Popular Young Adult Character Artemis Fowl Comes to Life in ‘Artemis Rocks!’ Tour with Author Eoin Colfer

On the heels of his overwhelmingly successful Fairies, Fiends and Flatulence international tour, Eoin Colfer will tour the U.S. as part of the Artemis Rocks! show.  The tour coincides with the publication of Artemis Fowl: The Atlantis Complex, the seventh title in Colfer’s best selling series of novels for young readers.

Artemis Rocks! launched with two sneak preview performances in Southern California on August 4th and 5th; the U.S. tour runs from September 14th through the 24th.   This talk show-style performance features a monologue from Eoin, a first rate writer and part time comedian.  Eoin will interview Artemis Fowl himself, and the shows feature original songs and newly created music videos.  There will be audience participation and book signings at all events as well.

A mobile texting campaign featuring Artemis Fowl songs will support the show.  In addition, Colfer will video blog from all tour locations.

Previously, Colfer, the creator of boy criminal genius Artemis Fowl, toured the U.S. in Fairies, Fiends and Flatulence, a one man live stage show that spins the hilarious tale of his childhood and his four mischievous brothers, and the invariably funny ways they inspired the characters in the Artemis Fowl books.  A family show in every sense of the word, Colfer draws on his own childhood for most of his jokes. Cute photos of the five devilish-looking Colfer brothers provide a simple backdrop for Colfer’s gags about fiends, fairies and flatulence, each of which is delivered with perfect deadpan timing.

Artemis Fowl: The Atlantis Complex is the latest in one of the most successful fantasy series worldwide. Combined sales of the ARTEMIS FOWL books have now exceeded 12 million copies, and the series is a constant on the New York Times list. The Artemis Fowl series has topped every other imaginable best-seller list as well – including USA Today, Publishers Weekly, BookSense, and even The Economist.

In the book, Artemis has committed his entire fortune to a project he believes will save the planet and its inhabitants, both human and fairy. Can it be true? Has goodness taken hold of the world’s greatest teenage criminal mastermind? Captain Holly Short is unconvinced, and discovers that Artemis is suffering from Atlantis Complex, a psychosis common among guilt-ridden fairies – not humans – and most likely triggered by Artemis’s dabbling with fairy magic. Symptoms include obsessive-compulsive behavior, paranoia, multiple personality disorder and, in extreme cases, embarrassing professions of love to a certain feisty LEPrecon fairy.  Unfortunately, Atlantis Complex has struck at the worst possible time. A deadly foe from Holly’s past is intent on destroying the actual city of Atlantis. Can Artemis escape the confines of his mind – and the grips of a giant squid – in time to save the underwater metropolis and its fairy inhabitants?

In addition to the Artemis Fowl series, Eoin Colfer is also The New York Times best-selling author of Airman; Half Moon Investigations; The Supernaturalist; Eoin Colfer’s Legend of… books; The Wish List; Benny and Omar; and Benny and Babe.  He lives in Ireland with his wife and two children.
