A teen pop duo, “Jonnie and Brookie” of Phoenix, Arizona, have been named Radio Disney’s “Next Big Thing” (N.B.T.) via a poll that tabulated nearly nine million votes on RadioDisney.com and via texts to Radio Disney from listener’s mobile devices, it was announced on air by Radio Disney’s Ernie D. Radio Disney’s N.B.T., a recurring on-air and online programming feature, puts the spotlight on young recording artists and allows them to get their music heard on a national level. Since its November debut, Radio Disney’s N.B.T. introduced 11 unsigned acts and invited its kid and family audience to look, listen and vote for their favorite new artist online or via text.
“Jonnie and Brookie” (sisters age 16 and 14, respectively) will perform in concert at an exclusive Radio Disney event to be announced shortly. They narrowly edged out three other frontrunners — AllStar, Bre Morgan and Comic Book Heroes.
“We’re thrilled with the response N.B.T. has received from kids and parents and for the exposure it gives young recording artists via our broadcast and online media platforms,” said Kelly Edwards, director, Music, Radio Disney. She added, “We’re already preparing for the next round of N.B.T. artists.”
Photos, biography and music by “Jonnie and Brookie” are available at RadioDisney.com. Among the other N.B.T. acts this year are Cody Fry, Danielle Thrush, Hailey DiBiasi, Kacie Lynch, Katie Lawhorne, “Push Play” and Sarah Solovay.
