Report: Meeting Captain Rockhopper at Walt Disney World

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to meet Captain Rockhopper himself at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The Captain brought along a penguin friend as well.

As reported earlier here on Stitch Kingdom, the Club Penguin characters are currently involved in a test appearance at Walt Disney World from April 30 to May 13, meeting with guests several times a day by the Backlot Tour (between the entrance and Soundstage 1). If the test proves to be succesful, the penguins may return again in the future for extended visits as well as potentially visit other Disney Park resorts. During the meet & greet, children were invited to sign a guest book (presumably to gauge interest) and it’s clear that the penguins are loved.

Guests meeting the penguins are also offered Club Penguin-themed temporary tattoos and — true to game form — a post card featuring the pair with a surprise on the reverse side: a code to unlock a special in-game gift from Rockhopper for your penguin! I won’t say what the item is, but it’s very cool and it’s a great souvenir sure to remind you of meeting the penguins in real life.
