Disney Channel’s hit comedy series “Sonny With A Chance” has inspired a new series of comedic webisodes, “MacKenzieFalls.com,” which explore the fictional tween melodrama and its popular leading man Chad Dylan Cooper (played by actor Sterling Knight), seen each week in “Sonny With A Chance.” A new webisode will premiere every Monday during the summer, beginning MONDAY, JUNE 22, and an exclusive expanded “MacKenzie Falls” will be part of the bonus content on the Disney DVD of “Sonny With A Chance: Sonny’s Big Break,” available August 25.
MacKenzieFalls.com joins two popular digital initiatives: TweenWeekly.com, an online version of the fictional tween magazine featuring stories about the So Random cast, and SoRandom.com, the “official” website for the sketch comedy show depicted in “Sonny With A Chance.”
Regarding the project, Lauren DeVillier, vice president, Digital Media, Disney Channel, said: “’Sonny With A Chance’ presents us with a host of organic story extensions that served as a portal to ‘MacKenzie Falls’ and great new insight into one of the show’s most popular characters, Chad Dylan Cooper.”
At www.MacKenzieFalls.com, visitors can create their own “MacKenzie Falls” video trailer via the “mix-up mash-up” activity on the site. It will also feature fictional “Mackenzie Falls” cast bios, a “yearbook” photo page and a User Gallery that showcases select “mix-up mash-up” videos.
The webisodes, written by “Sonny With A Chance” creator/executive producer Steve Marmel and executive producer Michael Feldman, will be available on Sprint TV, AT&T CV, Disney Channel on Demand and through iTunes as podcasts.
Disney Channel’s “Sonny With A Chance” is a comedy series that goes behind-the-scenes of a Hollywood production when talented Allison “Sonny” Munroe (played by Demi Lovato) makes the leap from the Midwest to Los Angeles to join the cast of “So Random!,” the most popular sketch comedy TV show for kids and tweens.
Meanwhile, Sonny must also contend with heartthrob Chad Dylan Cooper, star of the rival show “MacKenzie Falls,” who makes it known that he thinks his dramatic work is better than her comedy career. Starring alongside the multi-talented Lovato are Tiffany Thornton as Tawni, Sterling Knight as Chad, Brandon Mychal Smith as Nico, Doug Brochu as Grady and Allisyn Ashley Arm as Zora.
