The Social Security Administration released its list of most popular baby names for 2009 today and it appears New Moon trumps Twilight as Jacob and Isabella took both #1 spots for boys and girls respectively. Edward comes in at a respectable 137 (up 11 over 2008) and Cullen also saw a significant increase over 2008, rising 297 spots to take #485.
In the Disney arena, Demi broke through the top 1000 spots this year to take spot #883 and Selena gave a good effort, rising 28 spots to #323, but despite a small decrease, Miley still reigns queen of the group with #189, her second best since storming into the top 1000 back in 2007.
Cullen did actually see the largest increase of all the male baby names while Alvin took the biggest fall of just 133 spots, compared to Marely which took the biggest hit for the girls — 517 spots. Conversely, Maliyah was most improved with a jump of 342.
