‘The View’ Scores Interview with International Sports Star David Beckham

David Beckham is synonymous with international soccer. He leaves women panting and crowds chanting. Now, for the first time, he is a featured guest on ABC’s Emmy® Award-winning talk show “The View,” live, Monday, April 26 (11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon, ET). The announcement was made today by Barbara Walters and Bill Geddie, executive producers.

Regarded as one of the world’s premiere soccer players, Beckham plays in midfield for Milan in Serie A, on loan from the Los Angeles Galaxy, though he is currently on the mend after rupturing his Achilles’ tendon. In 2007 his contract with Los Angeles Galaxy was the highest player salary in MLS history. He launched a successful football school, The David Beckham Academy, in both London and Los Angeles. Instantly recognizable, the name David Beckham has provided him celebrity status beyond the playing field, with hundreds of endorsement deals, fragrance lines, merchandise deals, charitable work, films, magazine covers and as a lucrative spokesperson, making him a financially successful entrepreneur. Beckham was called the ultimate “metroxexual” in 2002. He is married to Victoria Beckham, a fashion icon who rose to fame in the 1990s as part of the internationally successful pop group “Spice Girls.” They have three sons and currently reside in California. Victoria Beckham was a first-time co-host on “The View” on 2/17/10, and made her first guest appearance in September 2009. “Posh & Becks,” as they were dubbed by the media, are undoubtedly one of the most photographed and sought-after celebrity couples.

“The View” features Daytime Emmy Award-winning hosts Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd. It’s the original forum in which real women discuss everyday issues, share their opinions and engage in colorful conversations.
