Even the experts who transcribed the paranormal activities chronicled in the Time-Life Mysteries of the Unknown series of books would clearly have trouble explaining this one.

Since the early 80s commercial for Lots-o-Huggin’ Bear found its way to the net, dozens of confused individuals are now congratulating Pixar on job well done, touting the ad as a fake — a viral video created in modern-day times designed to generate buzz for Toy Story 3 and its so-called ‘new’ stars.

If indeed this advertisement was somehow faked — and logic clearly points to it wasn’t — we’d love to know how the exact same hoax was pulled off at around the same time, half a world away.

Now we don’t speak Japanese, but we’re willing to bet that the English equivalent of what the girl yells towards the end is ‘This ad is real!’

So congratulations, Lotso. You’ve now rocketed yourself right up there with the Loch Ness Monster bath toy and Bigfoot cologne for young men.
