At BookCon earlier this year, New York Times best-selling author and author of Disney Descendants prequel, Isle of the Lost, Melissa de la Cruz, announced that there would be a sequel to the book, expected in May of 2016.
Today, additional details of the upcoming title have been released. Return to the Isle of the Lost is now slated for publication on May 10, 2016, presumably aligned for a sequel to the telefilm for summer 2016 as well. Like the original book, Disney is listing a pagecount of 320 pages for the upcoming sequel. The preliminary publisher’s description is as follows:
Several months ago, we revealed on Twitter that there would be a new phase for Hiro Hamada, Baymax, Gogo Tomago, Honey Lemon, Wasabi and Fred from the universe of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Big Hero 6. Although we didn’t know much about the new project, our source did advise us that it would surface for the holiday season this year and would involve a new look for the team. The source also advised us that the new project would not be based in video, but teased that it will present the team in a whole new form. Along with the new generation of Big Hero 6, there would be — of course — merchandising and recently, new product featuring the ‘Big Hero 6 Stealth’ team has surfaced online in the form of pre-orders. While they essentially appear to be repaints of previously released action figures from Bandai, they do give us a good look at what the ‘Big Hero 6 Stealth’ team will look like.

To date, not much has been mentioned so far regarding the 20th anniversary Pixar’s Toy Story (1995), the first full-length computer generated film, though there has been no shortage of expectations for it. So far we’ve been aware of re-issues of merchandise from licensees such as Mattel and Thinkway Toys, but clearly there must be more in store. Surely next week’s D23 Expo should reveal more plans along with the reminiscent panel on Saturday, already announced.
Ahead of any official announcement, Amazon has listed the DVD version of Pixar Animation Studios’ Inside Out with a release date of November 3, 2015. There is, of course, a Blu-ray version listed along with an anticipated 3D Blu-ray, but the latter two do not have any release dates associated with them as of yet.
In addition, no news has been released in regards to bonus features, although we do anticipate the inclusion of the first short to take place inside the Inside Out universe, ‘Riley’s First Date.’ It’s also potentially likely that given that The Good Dinosaur is slated for release a few weeks later, on November 25, there may be a sneak peek for it as well. As usual, we will provide more information as it becomes available to us.
