‘Home Alone 5: Alone in the Dark’ Begins Production for ABC Family

ABC Family and Fox TV Studios announced that production has begun on the latest installment in the popular “Home Alone” franchise, starring Malcolm McDowell, Debi Mazar, Edward Asner, Eddie Steeples, and Christian Martyn. The movie is set to premiere as part of the network’s annual “25 Days of Christmas” programming event.

In “Home Alone 5: Alone in the Dark” eight-year-old Finn (Martyn) is terrified to learn his family is relocating from sunny California to Maine, and the scariest house he has ever seen! Convinced that his new house is haunted, Finn sets up a series of elaborate traps to catch the “ghost” in action. Left home alone with his sister (Jodelle Ferland) while their parents are stranded across town, Finn’s traps catch a new target – a group of thieves (McDowell, Mazar, Eddie Steeples) who have targeted Finn’s house. Produced by Fox Television Studios, the movie is directed by Peter Hewitt (“Garfield”), and written by Aaron Ginsburg & Wade McIntyre (“The Finder”).

Katie Couric’s Syndicated Daytime Talk Show to Premiere September 10

Executive Producer Jeff Zucker today announced key production updates for Katie Couric’s highly anticipated nationally syndicated talk show, “Katie.” The live, weekday show has already been cleared in 94% of the country, and will premiere on Monday, September 10, 2012. The show is distributed by Disney-ABC Domestic Television.

In an internal webcast to television stations that will air “Katie,” Zucker unveiled the show’s logo, and announced additions to the senior production staff including Director Joe Terry, who has spent the last 14 years as Director for “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” and Co-Executive Producer Kathy Samuels. Samuels is a producer with nearly 20 years of television experience, including live television and daytime talk show programming at NBC, Paramount Domestic, and CBS, and has been a part of several successful launch teams, including “Rachael Ray” and “Access Hollywood.” Zucker will serve as the day-to-day showrunner.

The webcast was conducted from TV One at ABC’s Manhattan headquarters, which will serve as home to the “Katie” set. The studio itself has a rich history, having served as the backdrop to the Kennedy/Nixon Presidential debates, and has housed broadcast programming including “Good Morning America” and election night coverage. “Katie” will broadcast live, weekdays in front of a studio audience.

“Katie and I are thrilled to share these updates with our partners and Katie’s fans,” said Zucker. “We now have our studio, a great-looking logo that exudes all of the qualities that we want the show to convey, and a terrific team with a diverse background of experience. We couldn’t be more excited about September 10. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”

Katie Couric is an award-winning journalist, best-selling author and popular TV personality. In addition to hosting the new nationally syndicated program “Katie,” Couric is also a member of the ABC News team. “Katie” will be executive produced by Katie Couric and Jeff Zucker and is distributed by Disney-ABC Domestic Television.

Disney Cruise Line Donates $250K to Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida

Disney Cruise Line presented a $250,000 donation to Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida in honor of the newest and fourth ship in its fleet, the Disney Fantasy. The donation is earmarked for a new Boys & Girls Club location in Cocoa near Port Canaveral, the homeport for the Disney Fantasy. Last year, Disney hosted a benefit cruise on the sister ship of the Disney Fantasy, the Disney Dream, raising $750,000 for Boys & Girls Clubs. Karl Holz, president of Disney Cruise Line and Captain Tom Forberg were joined by Gary Cain, president of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida, and several Club families who will have the opportunity to sail on the Disney Fantasy later this month.

“Disney Cruise Line has been a long-time supporter of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida,” said Holz. “As our fleet has expanded and our business has grown, it has been our pleasure to help the Clubs grow as well, so they can continue to inspire and empower young people. We are excited that this donation will assist in the development of a new facility close to our homeport, which will allow our crew members to continue supporting the Clubs through Disney VoluntEAR efforts.”

The contribution will help fund programs at Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida that teach children character and leadership, develop life and health skills and expand their creativity and cultural awareness through the arts. Both Disney and Boys & Girls Clubs share the same values in championing the happiness and well-being of children, as well as motivating them to make a lasting, positive change in the world. The relationship between Boys & Girls Clubs and The Walt Disney Company started more than 50 years ago when Walt Disney was made an honorary member of the organization’s national board of directors.

“We are proud to serve children at Clubs in Brevard County where there is a need for comprehensive, dedicated youth development services and where all young people can come to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens,” said Cain. “We are very grateful for this generous contribution from Disney Cruise Line, which will have an immediate impact on our community and encourage the next generation of local leaders. The opportunity to sail on the Disney Fantasy will create magical memories for these children and their families.”

In keeping with maritime tradition, Disney Cruise Line also hosted a plaque and key exchange with members of the port and community leaders commemorating the inaugural call of the Disney Fantasy on Port Canaveral.

‘Red Car News Boys’ at Disney California Adventure Details via Casting Notice

The Disneyland Resort has issued casting calls for an entertainment show titled ‘The Red Car News Boys’ that will be presented in the Buena Vista Street area at Disney California Adventure at the Disneyland Resort starting June 15, when the area officially opens. They will join other previously announced acts such as the Five and Dime.

The act is described as a ‘high-energy group of 1920s/30s-era paperboys [who] will take to the streets of Disney California Adventure Park as they sing and dance to authentic period tunes.’

Roles currently being cast for include:

JOHNNY – portrays an older teen, the heart-throb leader of the pack, tenor
KIP – portrays a young teen, Johnny’s younger brother, the ‘exaggerator,’ tenor
FEETS CHARMING – portrays 14-17, very outgoing, strong tapper, tenor
BRASS TACKS – portrays 14-17, gymnast, the ‘funny guy,’ tenor
SHORTY MCGUIRE- portrays 14-17, 6′+, athletic, tenor
SAL – female, portrays 14-17, 5′ – 5’4″, tomboy who dresses in her brother’s clothes, alto

Actors must be at least 18 years of age and be skilled in both dancing and music theatre.

‘Doc McStuffins’ on Disney Junior FREEview Now Available on iTunes

Doc McStuffins, Sir Kirby, Lambie, Hallie, Stuffy (Disney Junior)

Disney Junior recently launched a free preview of its new series, ‘Doc McStuffins,’ on iTunes. The show, which debuts on the new 24-hour Disney Junior Channel on March 23, 2012, chronicles the practice of a six year old who can communicate with and heal toys while promoting a healthy lifestyle for its viewers.

Available for eager fans to preview is one of the segments (each show consists of two of them), ‘Knight Time’ in which Doc and toy friends Lambie, Stuffy and Hallie call upon an old friend to join them in play, only to learn that time and poor hygiene have left the once shiny knight with a bad case of Filthy-Icky-Sticky Disease. Also featured is the show’s highly addictive theme song, written by Kay Hanley and Michelle Lewis.

Bella Thorne, Zendaya to Meet and Greet with Fans at Disneyland Resort

In honor of the release of ‘Shake It Up: Live 2 Dance’ soundtrack, featuring music from the hit Disney Channel show, ‘Shake It Up,’ stars Bella Thorne and Zendaya will be offering the opportunity for fans to attend a signing being held at Studio Disney 365 in the Downtown Disney District of the Disneyland Resort on March 24.

The event will being at noon at which point Bella and Zendaya will participate in a Q&A session moderated by Radio Disney’s own Jake Whetter. The signing portion will take place beginning at 1 pm.

To attend the signing, guests must first purchase either a ‘Shake It Up: Live 2 Dance’ CD or ‘Shake it Up’ tee shirt at Studio Disney 365 beginning at 8 am that day. Each guest may purchase up to two CDs, but will receive a maximum of one voucher to return for the signing, at which point two purchased items can be signed (no personal items from home will be allowed). Only 200 vouchers will be distributed on a first buy, first served basis.

‘The Avengers’ 3D to Offer Limited Edition RealD Collectible Glasses
