Earlier this year, we broke news about a new campaign Disney has launched titled ‘Dream Big, Princess.’ The campaign has already begun to manifest itself with signage at Target stores nationwide, as well as internationally.
It’s become one of the world’s worst kept secrets that Disney Parks has devised of a way to use drones in its nighttime entertainment offerings and is currently lobbying the FAA to allow them to do so. Almost on a weekly basis now, we are learning more and more of just how Disney is attempting to accomplish such a feat, pioneering methods and technology to do so.
Exactly one week ago, we covered a patent application that demonstrates the ‘flixel’ system being composed of a pico-projector and a mesh screen and now Disney has potentially revealed plans on how the system will sustain itself.
Walt Disney Animation Studios has released a new clip from its upcoming film, Zootopia (March 4, 2016), which you can find embedded below. The clip, titled ‘Have a Donut’ features Judy Hopps hot on the trail of Duke Weaselton (Alan Tudyk) as he gives chase through Little Rodentia, offering a great glimpse into how perspective of each animal species’ height comes into play.
In addition to featuring Marlin, Dory and newly introduced pals Hank the Septopus, Destiny the Whale Shark and Bailey the Beluga Whale, we also see returning favorites Squirt, Sheldon and Tad (although Monogram’s product description names Pearl).
However, seen here but not named (presumably identified by ‘Exclusive A’ and ‘Exclusive B’) are what appear to be a sea otter — who has been briefly mentioned in the past — as well as a grumpy looking sea lion.
Just ahead of the New York International Toy Fair which kicks off Saturday, Febuary 13, Disney and Hasbro have shared a first look at the ‘Elena of Avalor’ doll being produced in support of the new animated Disney Junior series. The doll is seen here, held by Aimee Carrero, who voices the title character.
‘Elena of Avalor’ will first appear as part of a crossover episode on ‘Sofia the First’ before launching its own series. It was recently announced that Jenna Ortega will also star as Elena’s younger sister, Princess Isabel; and Chris Parnell, Yvette Nicole Brown and Carlos Alazraqui will voice Migs, Luna and Skylar respectively, magical flying creatures called Jaquins who support Elena as she learns how to rule her kingdom.

Frozen, a new musical based on Disney’s Academy Award®-winning musical film, is slated to join Disney hits Aladdin and The Lion King on Broadway at a theatre to be announced in spring 2018, Disney Theatrical Productions announced today on Twitter @FrozenBroadway. Frozen will play its out-of-town tryout beginning in summer 2017 at a theatre to be announced.
As previously announced, Frozen features music and lyrics by creators of the film score Kristen Anderson-Lopez (In Transit, Up Here) and Robert Lopez (Avenue Q, The Book of Mormon, Up Here) and a book by Jennifer Lee (Wreck-It Ralph), the film’s screenwriter and director (with Chris Buck). Frozen won 2014 Oscars® for Best Song (“Let It Go”) and Best Animated Feature.
During the Q1 2016 conference earnings call, Disney Chief Operating Officer, Tom Staggs, announced that prior to the release of the Frozen sequel, a television special is currently under development and scheduled to air on ABC during holiday 2017.
In addition to the movie sequel and the holiday special, a Frozen themed attraction and pavilion is scheduled to open at Epcot at Walt Disney World in 2016 while a new stage show is scheduled to open this spring at Disney California Adventure, with a new themed land in development at Tokyo Disney Sea which will pay homage to the film in its own way.
Anthony Anderson, Molly Ringwald, Ellen Pompeo , Gabourey Sidibe and Vanessa Williams will guest star on Disney Junior’s critically acclaimed ‘Doc McStuffins,’ an animated series about a little girl who aspires to be a doctor like her mom and runs a clinic for stuffed animals and toys out of her backyard playhouse. They join previously announced guest star Christopher ‘Ludacris’ Bridges in Season Four, slated to debut this summer.
The new season will find Doc and her toy friends magically transported to a make-believe town, made up entirely of toys, where Doc serves as chief resident of the Toy Hospital.
For many visitors to Disney resorts around the world, the free guide maps provide an extremely useful way to orient themselves within the parks, with many even considering them inexpensive souvenirs. But as the parks change, so do the maps, and so they also provide historical documentation, tangible evidence of what actually was and what will always be.
On October 18, Disney Editions is slated to release The Disney Parks Maps, a compendium of Disney theme park maps from around the world, documenting the history of each park as it made its own transitions throughout the decades. The 144 page book is written by Kevin Neary, who has also authored the official Hidden Mickeys of Walt Disney World book due out in June.
