‘Brother Bear,’ ‘Atlantis,’ ‘Mulan,’ ‘Hunchback’ All Slated for March 2013 Release on Blu-Ray

Kida fans rejoice! Walt Disney Studios has called in the plumber and the clog has been cleared, resulting in a deluge of animated classics all being released for the first time on Disney blu-ray on March 12, 2013. While not all of have been officially confirmed to us by Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, now is the time to start saving those pennies to complete your home video collection.

Continuing recent trends in providing the original motion picture in blu-ray format along with the direct-to-video sequels, first up on the list is the Brother Bear/Brother Bear 2 combo (available for pre-order) as well as Atlantis: The Lost Empire/Atlantis:Milo’s Return and The Hunchback of Notre Dame/The Hunchback of Notre Dame II, all three of which have been directly confirmed to us by WDSHE.

In addition, Amazon.com has also recently began listing Mulan/Mulan II for the March 12 release date (another listing for it has the artwork but no pre-order), essentially confirming that release. The Hunchback of Notre Dame/The Hunchback of Notre Dame II is also listed for pre-order on Amazon, with another listing showing the artwork.

At this point in time, all information provided to us is pointing at ‘classic DVD’ bonus features with nothing new added for the blu-ray releases.

Also being released on March 12, 2013 is Who Framed Roger Rabbit 25th Anniversary Edition as we have previously reported.

‘Monsters University’ Still Has Young Sulley Taking Mike for a Ride (Hi-Res)

While we hope to have a larger version soon, Walt Disney Studios and Pixar Animation Studios have released yet another new still from their upcoming prequel, Monsters University, via the studio’s official Tumblr.

According to the image caption, When it comes to college life, Mike and Sulley have VERY different ideas of what it means to have a good time — it’s a wonder these two mismatched monsters ever settled their differences.

Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan are an inseparable pair, but that wasn’t always the case. From the moment these two mismatched monsters met they couldn’t stand each other. Monsters University unlocks the door to how Mike and Sulley overcame their differences and became the best of friends.

Screaming with laughter and fun, Monsters University stars the vocal talents of Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, Dave Foley, Julia Sweeney, Joel Murray and Peter Sohn and is directed by Dan Scanlon and produced by Kori Rae. ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’ Comes to Eye-Popping Blu-ray on March 12, 2013

No news on a Who Framed Roger Rabbit sequel today, but we did learn that Walt Disney Home Entertainment has finally set a date for the 25th anniversary release of the classic groundbreaking film, making it available for the first time ever on Blu-ray on March 12, 2013.

Based on the novel, Who Censored Roger Rabbit by Gary K. Wolf, Who Framed Roger Rabbit is the story of a cartoon rabbit’s accused of murder and the toon-hating detective he must enlist to help prove his innocence. The film stars Bob Hoskins as Eddie Valiant, Christopher Lloyd as Judge Doom, Joanna Cassidy as Dolores, and Charles Fleischer as the voice of Roger Rabbit, Benny the Cab, Greasy & Psycho.

First Look: ‘Frozen’ Concept Art Featuring Anna, Kristoff (Hi-Res)

Courtesy of Walt Disney Studios UK, today we get our first look at newly released concept art from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ upcoming film, Frozen, featuring Anna and Kristoff.

When a prophecy traps a kingdom in eternal winter, Anna (Kristen Bell), a fearless optimist, teams up with extreme mountain man Kristoff and his sidekick reindeer, Sven, on an epic journey to find Anna’s sister Elsa, the Snow Queen (Idina Menzel), and put an end to her icy spell. Encountering mystical trolls, a funny snowman named Olaf, Everest-like extremes and magic at every turn, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom from destruction.

Directed by Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck and featuring original songs and music written by Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, Frozen journeys into theaters on November 27, 2013.

‘Monsters Inc. Run’ by Disney Mobile Now Available for Apple iDevices

Just in time for the theatrical release of Monsters Inc 3-D on December 19, Disney Mobile Games released ‘Monsters, Inc. Run‘ last night for Apple iPhone, iPad and iOS Touch devices ($.99).

‘Monsters, Inc. Run‘ is a side-scrolling action platform adventure that has players dashing through locations from the movie as their favorite Monsters, Inc. characters. Disney to Donate up to One Million Books to First Book via Groupon Grassroots

First Book and Disney Publishing Worldwide are once again teaming up to fight illiteracy by delivering new books to children of low-income families and the educational systems that serve students of low-income families. Via a Groupon Grassroots campaign, First Book will be accepting donations of $10 per Groupon which will go directly towards providing four new books to children in need. Disney Publishing Worldwide has committed to matching each donation up to a total of one million books.

At the Disney D23 Expo in 2011, Disney Publishing announced it was donating $500K and eight million books to the cause which was founded in 1992 and is now celebrating distributing over 100 million new books in North America.
