With two weeks left to go before we see the theatrical release for The Sorcerer’s Apprentice from Walt Disney Studios and Jerry Bruckheimer Productions, we wanted to offer you a little something extra. While other sites are still scrambling to show you clips we shared with you days ago, we (virtually) traveled halfway around the Earth to Walt Disney Studios Australia just so we could bring you this spankin’ new featurette (and nearly fell off the planet in the process!).
Yesterday, at the Shops at Montebello in Montebello, California, Disney Store launched its first of many new stores this year to feature its new ‘Imagination Park’ concept in which the store is designed to resemble a park full of imagination and wonder, broken down into different neighborhoods while offering unique experiences.
On hand to celebrate the day’s momentous occasion were Disney Store President Jim Fielding and stars from the Disney Channel original movie Camp Rock 2, Maria Canals Barrera, Chloe Bridges and Anna Maria Perez de Tagle.

Later on in the day, Stitch Kingdom’s Kelly Noble had the opportunity to explore the Disney Store ‘Imagination Park’ at Montebello experience which features an exclusive RIDEMAKERZ opportunity featuring the stars of Disney/Pixar’s Cars. Rehearsals are underway for the Encore! Cast Choir and Orchestra’s summer production, Dream Our Dreams, A Musical Tribute to the Legacy of Disney. Known for staging spectacular charity concerts, the volunteer ensemble has chosen Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central & Northern Florida as their 2010 beneficiary.
Encore! offers Cast Members an outlet for their creativity and a chance to showcase their talents while performing great music for worthy causes. The troupe, founded in 2002, has grown to include roughly 330 singers, 100 instrumentalists, 50 dancers and a production team of 40. Encore! producer Bruce Light says at least half of the group has jobs outside of entertainment and aren’t performers by trade. For all involved, it’s a labor of love.
Disney Family.com announced today the first ever Take a Chance – Make a Change Contest inspiring people to visit GetHatched.com, Disney Online’s latest Web site created with award winning actress Teri Hatcher. The contest encourages people to share a life-long goal that they have yet to achieve, with the grand prize winner receiving $10,000 to put toward fulfilling their goal or improving an area of their life that they have always wanted to change. The contest will run through July 26, 2010.
Disney Book Group will publish a middle-grade baseball series written by National Baseball Hall of Famer Cal Ripken Jr. and co-authored by Baltimore Sun sportswriter Kevin Cowherd. The series will feature characters from a Babe Ruth League team named the “Orioles”. The agreement for world rights was negotiated by Stephanie Owens Lurie, Editorial Director, Disney-Hyperion, an imprint of Disney Book Group, and Ian Kleinert, of Objective Entertainment.
The first book in the series—Hothead—will be published in Winter 2011 under the Disney-Hyperion imprint. It centers on all-star third baseman Connor Sullivan, who has a big problem: his temper. The story was inspired by Cal’s own struggle with frustration as a young player. Additional books will follow every year.
Imagine owning your very own TRON Legacy lightcycle. That’s what Parker Brothers Choppers in Melbourne, FL is trying to sell you at a measly $35,000 (starting at that is). According to the eBay ad that’s recently been making headlines, the custom motorcycle brothers will be constructing a fully functional custom bike based on the non-functioning model that Walt Disney Studios debuted at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con and has been toting around to D23, E3 and a whole bunch of other alphanumeric acronyms.

It’s not often that Walt Disney Studios holds a world premiere in New York City, but having filmed just about all of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice throughout the city, we were thrilled to learn that the Big Apple will be playing host to one of the greatest summer blockbusters from Walt Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer.
In addition to a formal ceremony dedicating the day to the film and Fantasia segment, rock bands OneRepublic and Alpha Rev will be holding a free concert in honor of the film that evening at Bryant Park. The concert, open to the public, will take place shortly after the world premiere at the New Amsterdam Theatre, home to Disney Theatrical’s Mary Poppins.
