Your PhotoPass Magic Shot Photos Wanted and a Few Updates

The Definitive Guide to Disney’s PhotoPass is long overdue for a facelift and I’m shamelessly asking for your support – especially if you’ve found the site to be helpful to you in the past.

I’d like to replace the current magic shot samples with larger, unmasked versions. So if anyone can contribute their magic shot photos to the site, I’d greatly appreciate it. I’m even welcoming the same magic shot multiple times from different families as I will be able to display varying examples in a couple of different ways. If you are willing to help, please email them directly to [email protected]. Please make sure these are the full size images however and not copies directly off the PhotoPass website. Also preferably without any additional borders added (but any are welcome).

Shots from Walt Disney World, Disneyland and the World of Disney NYC are all welcome.

On the topic of magic shots, Stitch Kingdom reader Cynthia has alerted us that there is a new shot introduced this past month. At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, on Sunset Boulevard with Tower of Terror in the background, PhotoPass offers a Mickey Balloon shot where a bouquet of balloons is inserted into your hands. No further details are currently available (hopefully an example photo will be available soon).

On PhotoPass in general, the website now accepts both the Disney Gift Card and the Disney Rewards card as forms of payment.

Disney Label Donald Duck Transformer on the Way?

The following image of a potential new Disney Label transformer has been popping up on the internet as of late and has even reported to have been spotted inside a Hong Kong shop, with an expected release date in August.Disney Label Donald Duck Artwork

Because of his resemblance to an assumed yellow car (such as Bumblebee), Donald has earned himself a not-so-family-friendly nickname of Bumbleduck.

WASHINGTON, D.C., May 14, 2009 — Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman, Jay Rasulo appeared on Capitol Hill this week to communicate his strong support on behalf of the Travel Promotion Act.  The bill, which is co-sponsored by Senator Mel Martinez of Florida, seeks to create a nonprofit entity that would execute a nationally coordinated travel promotion program encouraging more people to visit the United States.

Appearing before the Senate Subcommittee on Competitiveness, Innovation and Export Promotion, Rasulo told the body that, in addition to having a much easier, user-friendly entry process, the United States would greatly benefit by the creation of travel promotional entity that could speak with one voice, to welcome those who have avoided visiting the U.S. since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 and more recently, because of the effects of the economic recession.

Star Wars Weekends 2009 Map and Schedule Now Available

Stitch Kingdom is proud to be one of the very first to bring you the SWW 2009 map and schedule in PDF form. This is the same map you will be able to get in person at the park.

Here’s a brief rundown of the event’s events:

CELEBRITIES
It appears that James Arnold Taylor and Ashley Eckstein will be appearing only for their respective events and will not be offering formal autograph sessions as the rest of the celebrities will.

FASTPASS distribution for celebrities will be done outside the main entrance, to the right of the turnstiles. Distribution is most likely to start prior to park opening. Each guest is entitled to one FASTPASS and each guest must have a FASTPASS in order to obtain an autograph.

MERCHANDISE
Once again, Wicket’s Warehouse will serve as the official Star Wars Weekends merchandise location. Wicket’s is located inside Soundstage 1 at the top of Pixar Place, next to the Backlot Tour. Last year, guests were routed backstage to enter the warehouse.

CHARACTERS
Rebel Alliance characters can be found in the area surrounding Star Tours and the Premier Theater (located near the San Francisco backdrop). Empire characters can be found around the Backlot Tour area. All of the characters from 2008 are expected to return with an additional meet & greet opportunity with Captain Rex from the Clone Wars.

PARADE
The Star Wars Celebrity Motorcade featuring Star Wars characters and Star Wars Weekends celebrities will kick off at 11:40 am. The parade begins near the entrance, travels up Hollywood Boulevard and turns at the Sorcerer’s Hat to end near Star Tours, where a celebrity welcome ceremony is held at 12:00 pm.

EVENTS
Events will take place at two main locations: The Jedi Academy Training stage and the Premiere Theater.

JEDI ACADEMY TRAINING STAGE EVENTS:
Jedi Training Academy - A modified version of the daily event, the special SWW edition includes the opportunity for some padawans to battle Darth Maul while others take on Lord Vader. Participants chosen at random. Times: 9:30am, 10:20am, 12:30pm, 1:20pm, 2:10pm, 4:15pm, 5:15pm, 6:15pm

Padawan Mind Challenge – Star Wars fans aged 11 and younger can sign up at the SWW Information Desk beginning at 9 am to compete in this traditional trivia challenge. Challenges take place at 11:00 am and 5:45 pm.

Hyperspace Hoopla! - This not to be missed event closes the day. All of the Star Wars characters join the event’s host on stage in a very irreverent (but family-friendly) salute to the galaxy. Note that in order to obtain a good view of this show, guests will attend the last Jedi Training Academy session. The ~25 minute show kicks off at 7pm.

PREMIERE THEATER EVENTS:
Behind the Force – Join host Ashley Eckstein in Clone Wars: Behind the Force – a show that explores the excitement of Star Wars: The Clone Wars with a fascinating look behind the scenes led by the talented voice behind “Ahsoka” and other guest celebrities. Times: 11am & 3:35pm.

Stars of the Saga: Star Wars Celebrity Talk Show Hosted by Jay Laga’aia – Experience the fascinating life and movie-making adventures of our three visiting celebrities. Get your
questions ready because the presentation concludes with a lively audience Q & A session. 1:15pm

Visit to The Maul Starring Ray Park (May 22-24 only) – Experience a Master Class from the action film icon, Ray Park, hosted by Jay Laga’aia. 5:30pm
