Video: Epic Mickey’s Warren Spector Geeks Out with G4; New Gameplay Footage

G4 has just posted this video clip of Warren Spector providing an update on Epic Mickey from Disney Interactive Studios and Junction Point Studios. In the interview, Spector basically geeks out as he talks about being a life-long animation fan and talks about all of the animators from Disney and Pixar who they have consulted with on the project as well as the involvement from other business units such as Disney Consumer Products.

He also spends a bit of time talking about the music which was scored by Jim Dooley (evidently there are plans to release the soundtrack itself on audio CD in mid-September). Dooley has won an emmy for his scoring of the ABC cult-hit Pushing Daisies.

Disney Buses Involved in Another Crash, No Injuries Reported (Update)

Orlando Sentinel has picked up a story on the Florida Highway Patrol responding to a bus crash involving a Disney bus and a PT cruiser close to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Little is known at this time, but the Sentinel is reporting that there were 26 riders on board the bus and there have been injuries but specifics are unknown at this time.

UPDATE #1: The Orlando Sentinel is now reporting no injuries and that the bus driver was not at fault according to a FHP representative

Final Two ‘LOST’ Cast Photos Now Available for Purchase

'The Sanctuary' LOST Cast Photo“Soul Survivors” and “The Sanctuary,” the final two collector photographs from ABC’s hit series “Lost,” are available for purchase beginning today while supplies last. Featuring the cast from the final season, only 815 numbered reproductions of each image will be custom printed on high quality photo paper. Pricing for the 10×37 “Soul Survivors” print is $69.99; “The Sanctuary” cast photo will only be available as an 8×10 print for $19.99. A certificate of authenticity will be included for each print.

Vinylmation: Release Dates for Toy Story, Animal Kingdom, ‘Trade City USA’ Auction

One-of-a-kind 9" Vinylmation Steampunk figure by Chris ChapmanDisney Design Group and Disney Trading have announced several items today via the official Vinylmation blog:

In addition to the Annual Passholder exclusive Mr. Toad 3″ Vinylmation figure being released at the Disneyland Resort on August 27, the Toy Story collection will also be making its debut at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World at D-Street in the Downtown Disney district. The Mr. Toad 3″ vinylmation will be available to annual passholders at Walt Disney World on August 29.

Spectator ‘CHEAR’ Packages Now Available for 2010 Walt Disney World ‘Wine and Dine’ Half Marathon

Non-participants in the 2010 Wine and Dine can now purchase ChEAR packages with reserved viewing along the route to cheer on their friends and family and every one else running in the Wine and Dine Half Marathon taking place October 1 – 2, 2010.

There are three levels of the ChEAR package, each offering different perks:

  • Bronze (Free) – Gets you an e-newsletter which includes advice and hints for the best viewing spots along the route
  • Silver ($35) – Gets you the e-newsletter PLUS a ChEAR Squad gear kit which includes a bag, noise maker and tee-shirt

Disney and Pixar Innovations Considered for Scientific Achievement Academy Awards

The Scientific and Technical Awards Committee of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today that 15 scientific and technical achievements have been selected for further awards consideration, three of which have been created between Disney and Pixar. Although the list has been published, it’s completely preliminary and further innovations are being invited to be considered. The committee will meet in December to make recommendations to Academy’s Board of Governors, which will make the final awards decisions.

Among those devices and processes being considered are Pixar Animation Studios’ Misterd and Alfred (a job queuing and distributing rendering system) and XGen, an arbitrary primitive generator from Walt Disney Animation Studios.

Video: NASA Summit Provides Rare Insight into Imagineering; Little Mermaid 3D Model and Kim Possible Expansion?

NASA recently concluded its first Information Technology Summit in National Harbor, Maryland at which Jack Blitch, Vice President and General Manager of Walt Disney Imagineering Florida, delivered an amazing presentation to the attendees full of videos, photos and information rarely available to the eyes and ears of the public. Fortunately for those many of us who couldn’t attend the summit and attend the presentation, C-SPAN did and has made the summit available online, which we now present to you below:

During his twenty-plus years with Imagineering, Blitch served as Project Executive for the construction of Disney’s Animal Kingdom and worked other projects such as Star Tours, Tower of Terror, the new Tomorrowland, Blizzard Beach and Soarin’.
