Disney World Still Draws Crowds Despite Flu Alert

ORLANDO, Florida (Reuters) – Mickey Mouse, Pluto, the Fairy Godmother and other Walt Disney favorites were still dishing out kisses, handshakes and high-fives at the Magic Kingdom on Thursday, despite the flu virus alert gripping the United States.

At the world famous Florida theme park, which is run by Walt Disney Co and visited by millions each year, enthusiastic crowds filled the avenues and rides, apparently unworried by the warnings of a possible pandemic of a new strain of influenza A (H1N1) virus.

Disney to Soften Your Brain on Hulu with Current and Classic ABC Shows, Soaps, Disney Channel and More!

LOS ANGELES — Hulu and The Walt Disney Company today announced that Disney, through a subsidiary of ABC Enterprises Inc., has agreed to join NBC Universal, News Corporation and Providence Equity Partners as a joint venture partner and equity owner of Hulu, a leading online aggregator of video content. Upon closing, the agreement will enhance Hulu’s programming line-up through the expanded online distribution of Disney’s most popular current and library primetime series and library feature films. In particular, full-length episodes of hit current and library programs like Lost, Grey’s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Private Practice, Ugly Betty, Scrubs, Greek, Hope and Faith, Less Than Perfect, Wizards of Waverly Place, Phineas and Ferb, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, General Hospital, The View and The Secret Life of the American Teenager will soon be streamed on Hulu on an ad-supported basis.

Disney ‘Driving a Hard Bargain’ with Hong Kong

HONG KONG (Reuters) – Hong Kong’s top financial official will meet Walt Disney Co. management in Los Angeles later this week to discuss the stalled expansion of the struggling Hong Kong theme park.

Disney and the Hong Kong government have been embroiled in protracted discussions over financing for a second phase of the world’s smallest Disneyland which could cost a reported HK$3 billion ($387 million).

The first Saturday in May marks the annual Free Comic Book Day in which comic book retailers all across North America (and even the world) offer select comic books for free.

One of the offerings this year will be a special edition of The World of Cars #1 from BOOM! Studios. In addition to Cars, BOOM! works hand in hand with Disney and Pixar to produce comics based on The Incredibles, Toy Story, Monsters, Inc., the Muppets and more.

The FCBD edition features an excerpt from the #1 issue which reveals
the origins of America’s favorite racer, Lightning McQueen. You’ll also find never-before-seen sketches, character designs and script pages.

BURBANK, Calif., April 29 — Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures has arranged with The Nature Conservancy to plant 2.7 million trees in Brazil’s Atlantic Forest, one of the planet’s most endangered rainforests, it was announced by Dick Cook, chairman, The Walt Disney Studios.
