BURBANK, Calif., April 29   — Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures has arranged with The Nature Conservancy to plant 2.7 million trees in Brazil’s Atlantic Forest, one of the planet’s most endangered rainforests, it was announced by Dick Cook, chairman, The Walt Disney Studios.  In keeping with the Disneynature EARTH’s themes of protecting the planet and its wildlife, Walt Disney Studios volunteered to plant a tree in honor of every moviegoer who saw the film during its first week of release.  The motion picture grossed an impressive $16.1 million at the box office during week one and broke an opening day record as well as an opening weekend record for a nature documentary.  The film also garnered the highest praise from critics and moviegoers alike.

Florida Legislature Passes Time Share ‘Debt-Cancellation’ Bill

The Florida legislature has approved a bill that allows time share operators such as Disney’s Disney Vacation Club (DVC) to sell policies to new buyers that will allow them to walk away should they suffer a loss of income. The bill, championed by Disney, means that hesitant prospective buyers who are afraid to invest in the time share given the current state of the economy will now be offered the potential to drop the time share and any remaining balance due.

The bill will be sent to the Governor’s office who’s expected to sign.

A teen pop duo, “Jonnie and Brookie” of Phoenix, Arizona, have been named Radio Disney’s “Next Big Thing” (N.B.T.) via a poll that tabulated nearly nine million votes on RadioDisney.com and via texts to Radio Disney from listener’s mobile devices, it was announced on air by Radio Disney’s Ernie D. Radio Disney’s N.B.T., a recurring on-air and online programming feature, puts the spotlight on young recording artists and allows them to get their music heard on a national level. Orlando’s WFTV Reports Possible Case of Walt Disney World Tourist with Swine Flu (Updated)

WFTV Channel 9 in Orlando is reporting a case of a Mexican tourist who came to visit Walt Disney World a couple of days ago being infected with the swine flu.

At this time, both Disney and the Orange County Health Department claim no knowledge of the situation.

UPDATE: A representative from the Orange County Health Department acknowledges that a tourist had been tested for the swine flu on Monday night but that the results have not yet become available. While many people have come into hospitals claiming to have swine flu symptoms, the tourist in question was the only one to be tested so far (and presumably because he’s from Mexico).
