Orlando Officer Arrested for Illegally Selling Theme Park Tickets, Used Hotel Keys

According to WOFL, FOX Orlando, Orlando police officer Wendell Robey turned himself in this morning on charges that he illegally sold complimentary theme park passes. Investigators say Robey also sold used hotel key ‘add-ons’ so that guests could take advantage of certain perks limited to on-site guests such as Disney’s free parking and extra magic hour (EMH) access and Universal’s express line service for attractions. Robey was one of four that investigators were seeking out on related charges.

Marvel Television to Produce Live-Action Dramas for ABC, ABC Family

Jeph Loeb, who was recently appointed head of Marvel’s new Television department provides this Marvel.com exclusive clip in which he talks about current and new projects that fall under his watch such as Disney XD’s The Avengers, Ultimate Spider-Man and Cartoon Network’s Marvel Super Hero Squad, but he also hints at new hour-long dramas that are being planned for ABC and ABC Family, television networks also under the banner of The Walt Disney Company.

In the video, which you can watch above, Loeb vaguely talks about the future plans for the new dramas, but does say that more news will be released at the upcoming San Diego Comic-con in San Diego, California.

J. David Davis Named President and General Manager of WABC-TV New York

J. David (Dave) Davis, executive vice president, ABC News, has been named president and general manager of WABC-TV in New York, the ABC Television Stations Group’s flagship station in the nation’s largest television market, it was announced today by Rebecca S. Campbell, president of the ABC Television Stations Group. The appointment of Mr. Davis, an executive with 30 years experience in the station business, is effective immediately, and marks a return to the number one station that he successfully managed from 2003-07.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s Expert Finds Species on Border of Extinction

Cotton-top tamarins at Rafiki's Planet Watch in Disney's Animal Kingdom © DisneyA tiny Colombian primate known for its distinctive punk-rock hairstyle is in imminent danger of extinction, according to new research done by an animal expert at Walt Disney World Resort. The findings paint the clearest picture yet of a dwindling population at risk.

The endangered cotton-top tamarin is found in a small area of northwest Colombia. According to the research featured in the journal Nature Communication, there are now just 7,000 of the species left in the wild.

Sorcerer’s Apprentice: Dozens of New Hi-Res Stills, Movie Surfers and the Experience

In case you couldn’t tell, we’re pretty darn excited about The Sorcerer’s Apprentice from Walt Disney Studios and Jerry Bruckheimer. We’re just a few days away from the world premiere and the publicity is stepping up accordingly.

Disney Channel recently released this Movie Surfers segment in which the Surfers meet up with Jay Baruchel who talks about impressing his mom by saving the world, learning valuable lessons and providing sage advice: if you’re going to go on a quest to save the world, use the restroom first. A small amount of new footage in this segment very much directed at its demographic.

Voice of Cinderella and Disney Legend, Ilene Woods, Dead at Age 81

Disney D23 has reported that Ilene Woods, best known to Disney fans as the original voice of Cinderella, has passed away at the age of 81. No additional details have been provided at this time.

Woods was offered the opportunity to audition for Cinderella after she had recorded demos of songs from the film for songwriters Mack David and Jerry Livingston who had become friends with her through a music radio show she once hosted. After hearing the recordings, Walt Disney extended an invitation for Woods to audition for the film — she won the role, but never met Walt until after the film had been completed.

Disney Store Montebello to Offer First Phineas and Ferb Meet and Greet

There’s 104 days of summer vacation, but Disney XD’s most popular duo just found a good way to spend one of them.

On July 10, Phineas, Ferb and Agent P will be on hand at the Disney Store Montebello to greet guests from 11:30 am – 3 pm. They’ll be trading off at the half-hour with Phineas and Ferb kicking it off at 11:30 and the bottom of each hour thereafter with Agent P beginning at 12 and appearing at the top of every hour following.
