D Street at Downtown Disney West Side © DisneyA new store has joined the unique collection of shopping and dining experiences in the Downtown Disney area with the opening of D Street, where urban-inspired product “intersects” with a Disney creative edge.

D Street is located in Downtown Disney West Side and showcases a mix of products for both men and women.  Items include cutting-edge apparel, pop culture novelties and Vinylmation™ collectibles.  The store offers an unfinished “industrial look” with fun, oversized props adorning the venue.

Disney Channel Star David Henrie Cited in Los Angeles for Disturbing the Peace

TMZ.com and Radar Online are reporting that David Henrie (Justin on Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place) and his younger brother Lorenzo were cited (not arrested) last night by the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department for disturbing the peace and attempting to start a fight at Universal Studios Hollywood’s Citywalk. The two were released to their father early this morning.

No further details regarding the incident are available at this time.

Report: Miramax to Return to Co-Founders

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Bob and Harvey Weinstein, the brothers who founded Miramax and later sold it to The Walt Disney Company are about to take the reigns once more. At a reported $600 million, the Hollywood power duo will once again oversee the production and distribution company they named after their parents.

Advanced Ticket Sales for Disneynature’s OCEANS Help Save More than 790 Acres of Coral Reefs So Far

“OCEANS” won’t open till Earth Day, yet 400,000 moviegoers have already bought tickets to catch the movie in its opening week and protect coral reefs in the process.  The “See ‘OCEANS,’ Save Oceans” initiative has bolstered ticket sales for the film; Disneynature’s pledge to make a contribution in honor of everyone who sees the motion picture between April 22-28 has already translated to more than 790 acres of marine protected area in The Bahamas—and that number is still growing with advance ticket sales on the rise and the April 22-opening just a week away.

“With 400,000 tickets sold so far, Disneynature’s second film is making a huge splash and saving coral reefs along the way—and ‘OCEANS’ hasn’t even opened yet,” said Chuck Viane, president, distribution, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. “Coral reefs are essential to the global ecosystem; we’re already on our way to establishing more than 790 acres of new marine protected areas—that’s the equivalent of about 600 football fields or nearly the size of New York City’s Central Park—and sales are still going strong.”

ACM SIGGRAPH announces the launch of the Learning Challenge at SIGGRAPH 2010 – an open competition sponsored by Disney Research with the goal of finding new and creative ways to use technology to make learning fun for children. Based on the principle that fun and learning should not be contradictory, teams are asked to develop an engaging, computer-based learning application that will delight, inspire, and reveal key learning concepts for children ages 7-11.

The Walt Disney Company to Donate $150K to Aid Quake-Affected Schools in China

The Walt Disney Company announced today it will contribute $150,000 to the China Youth Development Foundation (CYDF) to help rebuild schools devastated by a powerful earthquake in the western Chinese province of Qinghai.

“On behalf of The Walt Disney Company, I extend our deepest condolences to the people of China and hope our contribution can help the children and families affected by this terrible earthquake,” said Robert A. Iger, president and CEO, who announced the donation while visiting Shanghai.

Final ‘LOST’ Cast Photograph to be Exclusively Revealed in ‘TV Guide’ Magazine

The final “Lost” cast shot, entitled “Final Flight,” will be exclusively revealed as a two-page spread in TV Guide magazine in their April 19th issue, hitting newsstands today. The image will be available for purchase as a limited edition print run of 300, numbered and signed by ABC chief photographer Bob D’ Amico. The exclusive print will include an ABC certificate of authenticity.

“Lost” fans can purchase the limited edition print by going to www.officialLostphotos.com, which is the sole home of all of the cast images from every season of “Lost” going back to the series premiere in 2004. The image will be available for order as a 16×20 print. The price of an unframed print will be $49.99.
