I’m sorry, what year did you say you were from?
Here’s my dose of Saturday Synergy. I’m playing catch-up on this past week’s television and finally muddling through the soon-to-be-over Life on Mars. In this episode, All the Young Dudes, Sam makes a promise to ‘make it up’ to Annie when he gets back to 2008 (or 2009) from 1973. He’s got a laundry list of hip and current buzz-word laden things to do for her: take her to Nobu for sushi; fill up her ipod with the Justin Timberlake library; and even take her to EPCOT Center to ride Spaceship Earth. EPCOT Center? What you talkin’ bout, Sam Tyler?
(Epcot dropped the Center portion of its name (and the acronym in general) in 1994.)
Seriously though. Even if it still had been called that for the previous 14 years in Sam’s world, is that really the most relevant 2000-ish thing he could offer? How about taking her for a spin on Toy Story Midway Mania at Disney-MGM Studios? Now THAT would have blown her mind.
