AKA the bootlegged trailer from last year’s Comic-Con, here’s the official release, all nice and clean with quality sound and the new title at the end. Enjoy!
In celebration of Tron Legacy, Walt Disney Studios has re-created Flynn’s Arcade off-site in San Diego, complete with ’80s arcade classics and a few other surprises. The campaign started off when Disney mailed tokens to Flynn’s Arcade to attendees with a coded message to visit the site Flynn Lives, a site purported to have been created by a group of unknowns who have followed the disappearance of Kevin Flynn some 27 years ago, claiming him to still be alive. The site gave the message to its visitors to go to a specific location in San Diego at a specific time and there attendees found themselves inside Flynn’s Arcade.
Standing alone in the back of the arcade was the game Tron itself, with an added surprise. The brick wall behind the game opened up to reveal an actual full-size light cycle on a revolving table.
Below is a photo gallery highlighting the arcade along with the cast and crew of Tron Legacy. All photos are © Eric Charbonneau/Le Studio/Wireimage and are provided courtesy of Walt Disney Studios.

Unfortunately we couldn’t be there, but Disney sends us their best, or presented them anyway. The first ever 3D panel at Comic-Con featured emcee Patton Oswald (voice of Remy), directors Tim Burton, Robert Zemeckis and Joe Kosinski (pictured, left) as well as a host of surprise guests, footage and more.
In addition to the current projects, Burton offered that he’ll be working on his take of the supernatural cult-classic soap opera, Dark Shadows. Robert Zemeckis, having expressed interest in a sequel to Who Framed Roger Rabbit? in the past, was unable to either confirm or deny if it’ll be on his plate any time soon.
Much to the delight of New Moon-stalking tweens everywhere, Johnny Depp the actor made an appearance at the panel too. At least they tell me it’s Johnny Depp. Something tells me there’s a Madame Tussauds somewhere missing something, based on this photo. Johnny would also like you to know that while Tim directs, Depp will be taking on the lead role of Barnabas Collins in Dark Shadows.
While still vaguely on the topic of Alice in Wonderland, Disney fans at Comic-Con have been instructed to follow @importantdate on Twitter. I don’t know if that account will do anything beyond the convention, but it might be worth a follow.
Shifting a little focus to Tron, the big news is its name: Tron Legacy (subject to change at any time of course). It appears Kevin Flynn has been living inside the mainframe for the past 25 years (evidently no one’s considered an upgrade in that time) and it’s up to now-adult son Sam to go in and locate his father.
We showed you the title treatment earlier, so here’s a sample of something else the fans at Comic-Con got to see. A little bit of concept art along with the cast of the new ‘stand-alone sequel.’ I know a lot has been made of this fascinating anti-aging technology they’re using to show a very young Kevin Flynn, but if you ask me, he doesn’t look like he’s aged all that much in 27 years.
As part of a viral campaign (evidently the mainframe doesn’t have any anti-virus software installed either), Disney has been sending out Flynn’s Arcade tokens and messages inviting folks to check out this website which currently very blatantly tells folks to meet up somewhere in San Diego in a couple of hours. So we’ll see what comes of that (well, I won’t).
Also in Tron Legacy related news, it’s being reported that Daft Punk will be touring in support of the new movie as they will exclusively be composing the music as we mentioned several months ago.
Yesterday, as you are probably aware, the teaser trailer to Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland was released prematurely. Although we did manage to save our own copy, when it became evident that Walt Disney Studios was not a fan of the breach, it was decided to simply delete the post that linked to it. So for that we both apologize to and appreciate those who posted the many links to our site posted on forums all over (on some interesting non-Disney topic forums too).
Fast forward to today and after making its official debut at the San Diego Comic-Con, we are pleased to bring the trailer back to you (hopefully for good). As we reported earlier in the week, Disney ran a Facebook campaign which pitted the fans of the Red Queen, the White Queen and the Mad Hatter against each other and granted the largest army of fans with the official first look of the trailer. Well, the votes are in, and no surprise, the Mad Hatter is the winner. Which only proves that we know how to pick’m (and that we sorta cheated and joined all three). Without further ado, I present to you the first teaser-trailer to the highly anticipated take by Tim Burton on the literary classic.
