Production has begun on “Skyrunners,” the first original movie for the newly branded television platform Disney XD. The science fiction adventure features rising star Kelly Blatz, who can also be seen playing the title role of the new network’s flagship series “Aaron Stone.” In addition Weta Workshop, the multiple Academy Award-winning world leader in special makeup, creature and visual effects (“The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, “King Kong” and “The Chronicles of Narnia” films), will design and provide the practical alien creature effects in the movie. The announcement was made today by Gary Marsh, president, Entertainment, Disney Channels Worldwide.

Grand Floridian to Host EASY-BAKE 2009 ‘Baker of the Year’ Contest

After searching America’s kitchens since last summer, Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE: HAS) today announced the names of the seven talented child bakers selected to participate in the EASY-BAKE 2009 “Baker of the Year” contest finals. Representing different states across the country, the seven finalists will be flown to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa in WALT DISNEY WORLD® Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, where they will compete for the title of EASY-BAKE 2009 “Baker of the Year” on May 7, 2009.

All About Remy and Disney’s Living Character Initiative

The newest chef at Walt Disney World Resort may be small in stature, but he’s a big hit with guests enjoying haute cuisine at Les Chefs de France in Epcot. With his flair for French fare, diners of all ages are eating up his whimsical tableside visits.

His name is Remy, and he’s the rat-turned-chef made famous in the Academy Award-winning Disney•Pixar film “Ratatouille.” A new Audio-Animatronicscharacter created by Walt Disney Imagineering, Remy stars in a new guest experience at Les Chefs de France entitled “Bon Appétit from Chef Remy.” Les Chefs de France is one of the restaurants featured at the France pavilion in Epcot.

Fatal Accident at WDW Leaves 1 Dead, 2 Injured (Updated)

News4Jax.com is reporting on an vehicular accident that took place on Walt Disney World property on Sunday afternoon. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a driver ended up swerving off the road into the path of an oncoming tour bus, killing the driver and sending three passengers on the bus for treatment for minor injuries.. The accident occurred between the Wilderness Lodge and the Contemporary Resort. Read the original article here.

UPDATE: Additional reports have confirmed the driver to be 47 year old Teresa Scarborough of Clermont, Florida and the number of persons treated for injuries is two. One report notes the bus was ‘parked’ while another indicates Scarborough lost control of the car and crossed into the lane of the oncoming traffic, according to the FHP.

The official Walt Disney World website has begun posting PDF versions of its menus for Table Service Locations. THE BIG CHEESE: Famed French Chef Paul Bocuse introduces his grandson — also named Paul Bocuse — to a new Audio-Animatronics figure named “Remy” April 3, 2009 at Les Chefs de France restaurant at Epcot in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Remy, made famous in Disney’s Academy Award-winning animated film “Ratatouille,” is featured at the restaurant in a new guest experience called “Bon Appetit from Chef Remy.” The Audio-Animatronics figure — the smallest ever created by Walt Disney Imagineering — interacts with diners inside the restaurant.
