DWTS ‘Iconic Dance’ Week to Feature Karmin, Frankie Moreno

It’s “Iconic Dance Night” and the couples have been challenged by Judge Len Goodman to deliver show-stopping routines that the series has never seen before. The 11 remaining celebrities have chosen an iconic “DWTS” dance to reinterpret, MONDAY, OCTOBER 8 (8:00-10:01 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. For the first time ever, the celebrities have taken charge of the creative direction of the routine, given the responsibility for all artistic decisions relating to the performance.

In a one-hour special, “Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars – An Exclusive Encore,” we will recap Monday night’s stellar performances as well as include new, exclusive, behind-the-scenes footage and never-before-seen interviews , TUESDAY, OCTOBER 9 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET). Following the special, on “Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars — The Results Show” (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET), the couples face a double elimination and Karmin perform “Hello” and their irresistibly addictive single, “Brokenhearted,” from their debut album “Hello,” out now. Last year Karmin captured the attention of music lovers worldwide when they posted a cover of Chris Brown’s “Look at Me Now.” The clip went viral, becoming one of YouTube’s most viewed videos; since then they’ve racked up about a half billion views for all of their videos online. The duo released their first album, “Hello,” earlier this year, shortly after their television debut on “Saturday Night Live.” Amy and Nick spent the earlier part of the summer touring around the country and headlining festivals, including a performance for a crowd of more than 100,000 in San Francisco last month. Also performing Tuesday night is musician Frankie Moreno with a medley of “Tangerine Honey” and “Real Wild Child,” accompanied by Troupe members Lacey Schwimmer and Kyle Massey.

Also during Tuesday night’s results show, we will have the season’s first “AT& T Spotlight Performance,” featuring Joshua Johnson. Joshua, an ambitious young man from New York City, had always dreamt of going to college. But when his acceptance letter came from Penn State University, he realized he was never going to be able to afford it. His mother had lost her job years before and they had been living in shelters ever since. Josh decided he would raise the money he needed by tap dancing on the subway. He danced for hours, holding out his hat for donations. Eventually, he collected enough money to cover his freshman year of college. But to pay for future years, Josh would take a five-hour bus ride to New York every weekend and raise more money by tap dancing on the subway. Currently in his junior year at Penn State, he still travels to New York every weekend with the hope of raising enough money to get him through to graduation. Tuesday night, the ballroom welcomes Joshua and eight other dancers who will be dancing in a powerful piece by renowned choreographer JT Horenstein. The performance will be beautiful tribute to the people of New York, as Josh knows that without them he wouldn’t be in college.

Hosted by Emmy Award winner Tom Bergeron (“America’s Funniest Home Videos”) and Brooke Burke-Charvet (“Dancing with the Stars” Season Seven Champion), the celebrities perform choreographed dance routines which will be judged by renowned Ballroom judge Len Goodman and dancer/choreographers Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba.

The real Wreck-It Ralph may be nine feet tall and weigh 643 pounds, but we have a feeling there’d be just as much to love if he were about four inches, under a pound and made of vinyl — and we don’t think we’re alone either! So that’s why we’re pleased to present to you this sneak peek of the Funko POP! collection for Wreck-It Ralph coming soon exclusively to Disney Store.

Each of the figures seen here (Wreck-It Ralph, Fix-It Felix, Vanellope Von Schweetz and King Candy) are of the normal (up to) 4″ size and will retail for $12.50 each. At this time we do not know when they will become available either online or in the stores but we are aware of an October 28 date floating around. This specific date seems unlikely however because it is a Sunday and new merchandise at Disney Store locations debuts on Monday in our experience. As we noted, many of the Wreck-It Ralph items are available for purchase online already meaning they are likely to debut in stores within the next week or so, although there are several other items we know of that have not yet been publicly displayed.

‘Wreck-It Ralph’ Plush Now At Disney Store; ‘Monsters University’ Merchandise Preview

Today’s Disney Store update featured more than 100 brand new items to the online shopping destination including some great surprises. Among them were the plush and interactive dolls inspired by Wreck-It Ralph and a special preview at some of the merchandise coming for Disney/Pixar’s Monsters University.

‘Pretty Little Liars’ Renewed For Fourth Season on ABC Family

Michael Riley, president ABC Family, announced today that the network has picked up a fourth season of its hit original series “Pretty Little Liars.” The all new season will consist of 24 one-hour episodes that will start to air mid 2013. “Pretty Little Liars” will air a special Halloween-themed episode on Tuesday, Oct. 23rd at 8:00 – 9:00 PM ET/PT, as part of the network’s “13 Nights of Halloween” programming event, and then will return with the rest of season three in January 2013.

ABC Family’s #1 series of all time, “Pretty Little Liars” ranked as cable TV’s #1 series of summer 2012 in viewers 12-34 (2.6 million/2.8 rating) and Females 12-34 (2.2 million/5.0 rating), the #1 scripted basic cable TV series in Women 18-34 (1.2 million/3.7 rating) and the #1 series in Female Teens (1.0 million/8.6 rating). In its time period, “Pretty Little Liars” was easily the #1 cable TV show on Tuesdays at 8 o’clock throughout the season across target 18-34, 1849 and 12-34 demos.

The August 28th finale exploded social media sites across America, breaking the show’s own previous records, generating more than 709,000 tweets, peaking at an impressive 36,000 tweets per minute. With an all-day catch-up marathon and finale, “Pretty Little Liars” generated 1.9 million tweets, including more than 1.2 million between 8:00 and 10:00 pm. Moreover, according to SocialGuide, “Pretty Little Liars became the #1 “most social” TV series episode in history, breaking records with over 1.6 million comments.

“Pretty Little Liars” fans have been able to fill the void left when the show went off the air in August with ABCFamily.com’s new webisode series “Pretty Dirty Secrets.” The webisode series has been a tremendous hit with fans, vastly exceeding any short-form video series ever done on ABCFamily.com. The debut alone garnered over half a million views in 24 hours.

In the special Halloween-themed episode, entitled “This Is a Dark Ride” and airs Tuesday, Oct. 23rd (8:00 – 9:00 PM ET/PT), Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer are looking forward to some good old Halloween fun now that the traumatic events with Nate are behind them. But once aboard the Rosewood Ghost Train, the girls are in for much more than just some childish trick or treats. With “A” running amuck and unexpected party-goers popping up at every turn, this Halloween event becomes one killer party. Musical guest star Adam Lambert performs his songs “Trespassing” and “Cuckoo,” from his latest album “Trespassing,” during the Halloween festivities.

Cablevision to Add Disney’s WATCH Anywhere Service, ESPN 3D and ABC News/Univision

Cablevision (NYSE: CVC) and The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) today announced a comprehensive distribution agreement to deliver Disney’s robust lineup of top quality sports, news and entertainment content to Cablevision TV customers across television, internet, tablets and handheld devices. The new agreement enhances the multichannel business model and supports the companies’ mutual goal to deliver the best video content to customers across multiple platforms.

As part of the new multi-year agreement, Cablevision will launch several new services, including the full suite of authenticated WATCH products, ESPN3 and ESPN 3D, as well as the upcoming ABC News/Univision Joint Venture, a 24/7 news, information and lifestyle multi-platform network for English-dominant and bilingual Hispanics, the youngest and fastest-growing demographic in the U.S. In total, approximately 70 services are covered by the broad scope of this agreement including: ABC, ABC Family, Disney Channel, Disney Junior, Disney XD, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN Deportes, ESPNEWS, ESPN Classic, ESPN Goal Line, ESPN Buzzer Beater, ESPN 3D, ESPN GamePlan, ESPN FullCourt, ESPN3 and Longhorn Network; retransmission consent for WABC-TV and WPVI-TV, as well as more than 10 high-definition networks.

Cablevision customers will receive broad access to existing authenticated products like WATCH Disney Channel, WATCH Disney XD and WATCH Disney Junior, the to-be-launched WATCH ABC and WATCH ABC Family services and WatchESPN (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, ESPNU, ESPN Goal Line and ESPN Buzzer Beater). These products will give Cablevision customers more opportunities to access live and video on demand content, both in-home and out-of-home, on their computers, smartphones, tablets and gaming consoles.

Cablevision will also provide its TV customers with broad access to expanded On Demand content through Disney’s comprehensive TV+ initiative.

“This significant agreement ensures that our customers will continue to have access to dozens of ABC, Disney and ESPN networks for years to come and, for the first time, they will be able to enjoy Disney and ESPN programming outside the home,” said James L. Dolan, Cablevision’s president and CEO. “It includes the launch of new services, like ESPN3, and expanded availability of high-quality On Demand content, which is a key element of our video strategy and value proposition to customers.”

“With our robust and ever-growing multi-platform content offerings, we’re pleased to be able to expand our relationship with Cablevision,” said Anne Sweeney, co-chair of Disney Media Networks and president of Disney/ABC Television Group. “We look forward to working together to deliver our viewers and their customers better access to our broad portfolio of high-quality programming.”

The extensive and expanded rights package for Cablevision TV customers includes rights across multiple platforms for:

ABC On Demand, ABC’s fast-forward-disabled On Demand service, which currently features a selection of top-rated primetime entertainment programming, including episodes of such popular current ABC shows as “Castle,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Once Upon A Time,” “Private Practice” and “Revenge.” Full current seasons will be made available on a number of shows. Additionally, Cablevision customers will have access to a variety of ABC News programming as well as some local ABC owned-station content.
ABC Family On Demand, which features a variety of top-rated full episodes, refreshed monthly, from such popular millennial favorites as “The Secret Life of the American Teenager,” “Switched at Birth,” Baby Daddy” and “Melissa & Joey.” Full current seasons will be made available on a number of shows. ABC Family original movies like “12 Dates of Christmas” will also be available.
Disney-branded On Demand offerings, including Disney Channel On Demand, Disney Junior On Demand, and Disney XD On Demand. Refreshed each month, the Disney Channel On Demand offering will include episodes from such series as “Handy Manny,” “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse,” and “Jake and the Never Land Pirates” for preschoolers, as well as variety of episodes from “A.N.T. Farm,” “Good Luck Charlie,” “Jessie,” and other popular series for older kids. Select episodes featured on Disney Channel On Demand will be available in innovative new offerings, such as playlists and monthly programming blocks, in addition to a number of episodes available in multiple languages. A variety of Disney Channel Original Movies will also be available. Disney XD On Demand features a selection of episodes from such series as the Emmy Award-winning animated hit “Phineas and Ferb,” “Pair of Kings” and “Kickin’ It.”

‘The Hive’ to Premiere on Disney Junior October 8

Already a top-rated series seen in more than 150 countries worldwide, hit pre-school animation property ‘The Hive’ is finally landing in the U.S. on the Disney Junior channel, debuting on Monday, October 8. The Hive will air weekdays at 1:00 pm ET/PT and weekends at 11:30 am ET/PT.

A fun and friendly kids TV series in beautiful CGI animation, ‘The Hive’ follows the fortunes of Buzzbee and friends in their fun-packed adventures in the Hive. The trailer also features a variation of the ‘when the game is over,’ tagline we’ve been seeing on posters, but ends with ‘a new world comes to life’ which is a particularly odd way to describe something that’s presumably existed for decades.

Aside from that, set to Flo Rida’s ‘Good Feeling’ and Usher’s ‘More,’ the trailer features a combination of some previously seen animation along with plenty of new animation, once again focusing on the relationship between Ralph and Vanellope, although this time it’s much less about emotion and much more about empowerment. And being adorable.
