On April 3, Disney Online announced the winner of its “Design a Fairy House Art Contest,” which ran in February on the popular online world for girls, Disney Fairies Pixie Hollow (www.PixieHollow.com). The fairy house, inspired by 15-year-old winning designer, Zoe P., from Frazier Park, Calif., was revealed during a special reveal ceremony in the Pixie Hollow Garden at the 17th Annual Epcot® International Flower and Garden Festival. Zoe and her family were in attendance to celebrate the momentous occasion, as her fairy house will be on display for the duration of the festival.

Chef Arnaud Lallement from l’Assiette Champenoise, a Michelin two-star restaurant just outside Reims, France, and Chef Scott Hunnel from award-winning Victoria & Albert’s at Walt Disney World Resort, are collaborating to create a French-inspired menu featuring superior products and seasonal ingredients sourced from around the world.
Master Pastry Chef Erich Herbitschek of Victoria & Albert’s at Walt Disney World Resort and Chef Mattieu Gerard Siegrist of l’Assiette Champenoise will lend their talents to create Remy’s savory breads and delectable dessert offerings.
French-trained Chef Patrick Albert, executive chef for Remy, oversees an all-star culinary team that will provide guests with a superb experience and epicurean excellence each day aboard the ship.
“Remy, a first-of-its-kind onboard experience, takes Disney Cruise Line dining to new heights,” said Ozer Balli, vice president, Disney Cruise Line Hotel Operations. “The extraordinary success of Palo on the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder encouraged us to create this elegant, upscale and even more intimate dining experience for the Disney Dream.”
The Discovery Channel announced its 2010-2011 line-up today which it’s preparing to present at its upcoming Upfront presentation where networks pitch their new shows to advertisers. Among the offerings is a new series called Reign of the Dinosaurs which the network describes as Avatar meets Jurassic Park.
Disneynature has just sent us this featurette for its upcoming film OCEANS (in theaters Earth Day, April 22). It features dazzling images from the film combined with a mini-narrative from Dr. Sylvia Earle, a world-renowned oceanographer. Leading hundreds of expeditions totalling thousands of hours logged, Dr. Earle is a former chief scientist for the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and is currently a National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence. Among her numerous awards and recognitions is the TED prize in 2009 and being named TIME Magazine’s first ‘Hero for the Planet.’

Peter Pan, a story which captivated the imagination of Walt Disney as early as 1935, will be showcased in a special exhibition at The Walt Disney Family Museum now through June 27, 2010. The feature-length animated film, released in 1953, will also be celebrated as the Museum’s film of the month in May.
ABC announces its summer schedule, with the return “The Bachelorette” on Monday, May 24 (9:00-11:00 p.m.); “True Beauty” on Monday, May 31 (10:02-11:00 p.m.); a special two-hour blind date-themed episode of “Wipeout” on Tuesday, June 1 (8:00-10:00 p.m.), before the premiere on Tuesday, June 22 (8:00-10:00 p.m.); “Dating in the Dark” on Monday, August 9 (10:00-11:00 p.m.), and “Shaq VS” on Tuesday, August 10 (9:00-10:00 p.m.).
Also premiering are three new scripted series, “The Gates” on Sunday, June 20 (9:00-10:00 p.m.); “Scoundrels” on Sunday, June 20 (10:00-11:00 p.m.); and “Rookie Blue” on Thursday, June 24 (9:00-10:00 p.m.).
New alternative series premiering are “Downfall” on Tuesday, June 29 (9:00-10:00 p.m.), and “Bachelor Pad” on Monday, August 9 (8:00-10:00 p.m.).
ABC News’ series joining the lineup are “Boston Med” on Thursday, June 24 (10:00-11:00 p.m.); “Primetime: Mind Games” on Tuesday, July 20 (10:00-11:00 p.m.); “Head Cases” on Thursday, August 19 (10:00-11:00 p.m.); and “Primetime: Crime” on Tuesday, August 24 (10:00-11:00 p.m.).
“Our strategy is to use the strength of our May programming to launch a strong summer schedule bolstered by three new scripted series,” said Stephen McPherson, president, ABC Entertainment Group. “We’ve got more than 210 hours of original programming this summer, including the return of our hits ‘Wipeout’ and ‘The Bachelorette.’ ABC will be a summer destination for viewers.”

This summer, Disney Vacation Club is scheduled to open the doors of its first ever international sales preview center at Tokyo Disney Resort. The 15,000-square-foot interactive center will give guests a peek at Disney Vacation Club resort hotels as well as other vacation offerings Disney offers. Guests can see for themselves a two-bedroom model of the vacation home accommodations that DVC members and families can expect to find on the island of O’ahu at Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas, Ko Olina, Hawai’i. And kids won’t be bored because Disney designed a supervised play area and interactive family discovery zone within the space. Check out this first artist rendering.
Although most character meet & greets at the Walt Disney World Resort are fairly standard from day to day, there are a couple of times per year when there are significant changes. These changes usually occur in April/May and September/October. In 2010, these changes are further complicated by the closure of Toontown and the Fantasyland expansion in the Magic Kingdom. Since we’re already getting into April, it’s time to take a look at some of the expected upcoming changes.
The Disney Store has had its share of corporate logos over the years and the current one (pictured, top) hasn’t been around for all that long, but a recent trademark application for a logo featuring ‘words and a cluster of stars’ suggests that Disney Consumer Products may have more in mind than just a series of store makeovers for its retail chain and online shopping destination.
DCP also recently welcomed the chain of Disney Store Japan back into the family.
