The surreal/fantasy-adventure film directed by Tim Burton, “Alice in Wonderland,” comes to DVD and Blu-Ray on June 1, 2010 (U.S. retailers). In the spirit of this fantastic journey, Disney Consumer Products and Charlotte Tarantola have come together to create stunning cardigans worthy of this celebrated Disney line: Charlotte Tarantola for Disney. Well-known in the fashion industry for her trend-right designs that play up coloration and innovative treatments, Tarantola was given access to Tim Burton’s artwork for “Alice in Wonderland” to develop a collection that captures the allure and mystery of Alice’s surrealistic journey in an apparel line that is decidedly 21st Century.
The collection offers prints, ruffles and sparkles that will make you never want to leave Wonderland. Like Alice peering through the looking glass, you can see flowery friends, tea-time treats, pocket watches, lace and mysterious keys, elements from the film with a balance of artistry and subtlety found only in other Tarantola creations.
“The arresting settings and characters in Tim Burton’s interpretation of “Alice In Wonderland” provided great inspiration and have made it possible for us to work with a group of renowned designers to create a truly unique collection of lifestyle products that will continue to position Disney at the forefront of fashion trends,” said Pam Lifford, executive vice president, global fashion and home, DCP. “Our collaboration with Charlotte Tarantola brings it all together in a way that is fun and interesting for consumers and Disney fans alike.”

So the next time you’re feeling nostalgic, give the Department of Education a ring and ask to be put on hold. Or just go to YouTube.

First it was Dumbo and Newsies, now Disney Theatrical has gone on to register a slew of domain names which — at times — makes you wonder which films didn’t make the cut. Granted the registration of a domain name doesn’t guarantee the project will ever see the stage, but so far, Disney Theatrical has proved to live up to its promises which should make the staged versions of some of these choices interesting to say the least. So without further ado, on with the show:
A couple of weeks ago, the official Disney Parks blog made it known that Disney had plans to jump on the Silly / Crazy Bandz tween craze and was going to introduce a line of Disney-themed (shaped) elastic bands.
Even though they’re being released in the UK (save for any importers who bring them over to this side of the pond), we just couldn’t resist mentioning these brand new Disney Princess pens from Pyramid International. Aurora, Cinderella, Snow White and Belle combine both form and function in these full body pens. And just that little something extra, the pens also feature a feathery dress as the perfect writing utensil accent for a budding princess.
After a bit of an oops! in which Hollywood Records had its own video suspended for copyright violation, they managed to reveal the new Miley Cyrus single Can’t Be Tamed off the album of the same title which hits the shelves on June 22.
In lieu of an actual music video, the YouTube offers up a photo of Miley along with the lyrics from the song sync’d to the music.
