Walt Disney Studios has just sent over some new stills from Prince of Persia starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Gemma Arterton, Ben Kingsley and Richard Coyle. We’ve added them to the end of our Prince of Persia photo gallery below.
Barry Hamilton and Edie Genden’s sixth grade classes from Mechanicsburg Middle School were named the grand prize winner of the OCEANS classroom mural contest, a national campaign to help students gain a better understanding of ocean conservation through art.
The Wyland Foundation, Fredrix Artist Canvas, and Volvo Cars of North America donated more than 300 50-square foot canvas paint kits to public and private schools and community centers across the nation. 29,000 students in 39 states painted murals about a range of issues affecting ocean health, from overdevelopment to declining marine biodiversity. But students also chose to contrast marine problems by highlighting the astonishing beauty that still remains in the ocean.
A few days ago, we were the first to bring you a first look at Walt Disney Studios’ Secretariat, ‘based on an impossible true story’ starring Diane Lane and John Malkovich.
Today, Disney has released the first trailer for the film which definitely lives up to the hype being generated around it with many calling this an Oscar year for Malkovich. You can view the trailer below.

Although there were perpetual rumors stemming from hope when the Disneyland Resort first announced the return of Captain EO for a limited time engagement, Disney Parks and Resorts successfully blindsided everyone this morning when they announced that it would not only return to Epcot this summer but would also return to Disneyland Paris, completing the circle of life.
The attraction will first re-open at Disneyland Paris on June 12, followed by Tokyo Disneyland on June 30 and finally at Walt Disney World’s Epcot on July 2.
It is official: he is back to change the World — for a limited time.
Even the experts who transcribed the paranormal activities chronicled in the Time-Life Mysteries of the Unknown series of books would clearly have trouble explaining this one.
Since the early 80s commercial for Lots-o-Huggin’ Bear found its way to the net, dozens of confused individuals are now congratulating Pixar on job well done, touting the ad as a fake — a viral video created in modern-day times designed to generate buzz for Toy Story 3 and its so-called ‘new’ stars.
If indeed this advertisement was somehow faked — and logic clearly points to it wasn’t — we’d love to know how the exact same hoax was pulled off at around the same time, half a world away.
Perhaps carying on a new tradition we experienced with UP, we also get our first look of a new ‘webisode’ titled Mission I: Buzz and Woody in which our heroes are re-introduced along with their first mission. The teaser also features a tad of never-before-seen footage from the film, in stark contrast to the infamous Japanese trailer which plays more like a Reader’s Digest condensed version of the film.
The first Saturday in May is Free Comic Book Day in which thousands of comic book shops around the globe offer the opportunity for fans and enthusiasts to pick up a free edition of new and old favorites.
With Marvel joining the Disney family, the Disney offerings have tripled this year as Buzz and Woody join Iron Man, Thor and Nova with each defending the universe in their own special way.
In Toy Story FCBD 2010 Edition from BOOM! Studios, the Pixar pals rally together when a new present for Andy makes an unexpected appearance. Good news and a temporary reprieve for the toys when Andy announces it’s a dupe, but what great unknown will he replace it with?
What happens when a half a dozen cars taking part in an illegal street race find themselves rolling through an exploding power plant at full speed? Such is the common-place, ordinary, humdrum scenario explored in the following new video featuring gameplay footage from Split/Second from Disney Interactive Studios and Block Rock Studio.
Available to own on Xbox, PS3 and Windows platforms on May 18, Split/Second is now available for pre-order on Amazon.com.
That’s the conclusion of a team of researchers from Save the Elephants, Oxford University and Disney’s Animal Kingdom who have discovered a new alarm call made by elephants in response to the threat of bees. Working with herds of elephants in Kenya, scientists theorize that this unique rumble may warn other herd members of the bees’ presence, prompting pachyderm retreats even when no are bees present.
“The purpose behind these studies is to find a novel way of keeping elephants from raiding the crops of local communities, and thereby reducing “human-elephant conflict,” according to Joseph Soltis, Ph.D., research scientist at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. “As human populations expand, they move into elephant territory and elephants and people end up sharing the same space. One of the consequences is that elephants start raiding crops, which can end up harming both people and elephants.”
Using an array of microphones hidden in the bush, scientists first recorded the vocal reaction of the elephants to bees and then replayed these elephant rumblings without bees present. When elephants heard this recording through wireless speakers, they behaved the same as they did when bees were present; they shook their heads, threw dust in the air, and ran away from the area. These very low-frequency “rumble” vocalizations are apparently different from other rumbles, leading researchers to believe that that elephants may use their voices to communicate threats to each other.
