Wreck-It Ralph Binder - Create Your Own from DisneyStore.com

'Wreck-It Ralph' Teaser PosterYahoo! Movies has debuted the newest trailer for Wreck-It Ralph from Walt Disney Animation Studios. Set to background music including ‘Funky Town’ by Lipps Inc and ‘Some Nights’ by FUN., the trailer takes a better look at Ralph’s plight to become more than just the bad guy as he departs from his home of thirty years to explore other options, landing him in games such as ‘Hero’s Duty’ and ‘Sugar Rush,’ where he (eventually) finds a kindrid spirit in Vanellope von Schweetz, a glitch who feels out of her place in her own world too.

Walt Disney Animation Studios and Emmy®-winning director Rich Moore take moviegoers on a hilarious, arcade-game-hopping journey in Wreck-It Ralph. Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly) is tired of being overshadowed by Fix-It Felix (voice of Jack McBrayer), the ‘good guy’ star of their game who always gets to save the day. But after decades doing the same thing and seeing all the glory go to Felix, Ralph decides he’s tired of playing the role of a bad guy. He takes matters into his own massive hands and sets off on a game-hopping journey across the arcade through every generation of video
games to prove he’s got what it takes to be a hero.

Wreck-It Ralph crashes into theaters on November 2, 2012. And if you are curious as to why the hero flushed the toilet, it’s because it was his duty.

‘Frankenweenie’ ‘Lightning’ Clip, Ads Introduce Shocking New Footage

'Frankenweenie'Walt Disney Studios has just released this new clip from its upcoming release of Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie. While New Holland seems like the picturesque town, it seems to attract more lightning than most locations. Could it be a result of the town windmill? Or is there more at play. In either case, in this clip titled ‘Lightning,’ new science teacher Mr. Ryzkruski (voiced by Martin Landau) explains to the class lightning’s rationale. But just what happened to the previous teacher anyway?

Also, from down under, we have a look at two new television ads for the film which contain quite a bit more animation, previously unseen.

Frankenweenie opens in theaters nationwide and Colossus will rise on October 2, 2012.

Walt Disney World Seeking Circus Acts for New Fantasyland

A new entertainment opportunity has been announced for the Magic Kingdom theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort. Under the title of ‘variety acts,’ the position is specifically looking for ‘fun and engaging circus-style variety acts, preferably those with levels and height, as well as audience participation.’ In addition, ‘these acts must be self contained, allow for quick set-up and strike, not use any permanent rigging, and be suitable for outdoor venues. They must also be suitable for family audiences.’ Solo clown acts are explicitly not being considered at this time.

Although the entry doesn’t explicitly say where the acts will perform, presumably the acts will be part of the ‘streetmosphere’ at the Storybook Circus section of the New Fantasyland expansion, which is currently open and operating, though the official New Fantasyland launch date will be December 6, 2012. Auditions are by appointment only and must be requested via phone at 407-397-3285.

Walt Disney World also recently announced it was seeking talent with physical comedy and improv skills for two new, ‘highly interactive, comedic and unique atmospheric experiences’ that ‘will bring fun and fantasy to each Guest’ for the Magic Kingdom.

Matterhorn Bobsled Vehicles, CA Screamin’ Sign Donated to National Roller Coaster Museum by Disneyland

Matterhorn Bobsleds. Photo © Disney Parks and ResortsMore than 53 years after opening the world’s first tubular steel roller coaster, Disneyland is donating two vehicles from the iconic Matterhorn Bobsled ride at Disneyland to the National Roller Coaster Museum and Archives. First open in 1959, the 1/100th replica of the real Matterhorn in Zermatt, Switzerland, was a dream of Disneyland founder Walt Disney.

‘This is the “holy grail” of artifacts for the National Roller Coaster Museum and Archive (NRCMA),’ NRCMA Chairman Gary Slade said. ‘The Matterhorn started the modern era of roller coaster design and launched the themed ride industry.’

Tame by today’s standards, the Arrow Dynamics/Disney Imagineering designed Matterhorn remains a thrilling ride for young riders and a memory-maker for families. Described as a roller coaster ride to an icy encounter with the Abominable Snowman, the Matterhorn speeds two-car sleds 18 miles-per-hour along its nearly 2,100 foot track.

‘We’re delighted to provide these pieces of Disneyland Resort history to the National Roller Coaster Museum, an organization that celebrates our industry,’ said George A. Kalogridis, president of the Disneyland Resort. ‘The Matterhorn Bobsleds vehicles and California Screamin’ signage represent two of our most beloved attractions, from the first tubular steel-tracked roller coaster in the world to one of the longest and most thrilling.’

The Matterhorn Bobsleds was a marvel of engineering when it opened at Disneyland. The 14- story ‘mountain’ was built like a skyscraper with multiple floors and cooling units. In addition to the bobsled cars, Disney graciously donated signage from the California Screamin’ roller coaster from Disney’s California Adventure. California Screamin’, built by Disney Imagineering and Intamin, is the second longest steel roller coaster in North America. It features a musical soundtrack and the only outdoor inversions at any Disney park in the U.S.

The official presentation of the donation was made at the Golden Ticket Awards at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. on Sept. 8, 2012.

In honor of the park’s 50th anniversary, Disneyland has previously donated vehicles from both Mad Tea Party and Dumbo to the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, DC.

DEBATE: What Ingredient Makes the Dole Whip so Special? (Spoiler)

Dole Whip FloatYesterday marked the opening of the application process for the 2013 Walt Disney World Moms Panel available at disneymomspanelsearch2013.com. As with last year’s application process, there were questions regarding specific knowledge on Disney Parks (as well as Disney trivia in general).

One of the questions has seemingly sparked up a bit of a debate between hopefuls — and perhaps with good reason:

QUESTION: WHAT INGREDIENT MAKES THE DOLE WHIP SO SPECIAL?

(A) Whipped Cream (B) Pineapple (C) Soft Serve Ice Cream (D) Strawberries

Immediately we can eliminate both A and D simply because anyone who’s everlooked at a Dole whip, let alone ate one, can see those two options don’t exist. So that just leaves one of two remaining possibilities. Is it the pineapple that makes it special? or is it that it’s soft serve ice cream?

But before we answer, let’s just all agree on this: neither one of those really tends to make a product special. So we’ll just loosen up our definition of special just this once.

So the pineapple or the soft serve ice cream? The pineapple answer comes into question (and very reasonably so) because despite Disneyland only offering a pineapple version, Walt Disney World offers a choice of pineapple, vanilla or orange, and even a swirled combination. It’s also par for the course that if you do ask for a Dole whip at Aloha Isle at Magic Kingdom, you will be asked to choose your flavor. So apparently — at Walt Disney World at least — pineapple does not define a Dole whip. So it can only be the other choice: soft serve ice cream.

Except — what’s so special about soft serve ice cream, really? And we probably shouldn’t ignore the fact that… well… a Dole whip isn’t ice cream at all. The company that sells the Dole whip mix, Precision Foods, defines the product as ‘a lactose free dry mix that is reconstituted with tap water and frozen down in a soft serve machine.’ So soft serve? Yes. Ice cream? No.

So despite the process of elimination pointing very meekly at pineapple as the probable answer, the truth is, the answer is whatever the person who made up the question wants it to be and that is one answer we may never find out.

‘Wonders of Life’ Pavilion at Epcot Tagged for ‘Selective Demolition’

The Wonders of Life pavilion as it appeared in 2006Yesterday, Walt Disney Imagineering filed a notice of commencement with the Orange County Comptroller’s office to indicate intentions for ‘selective demolition’ to take place at Epcot’s ‘Wonders of Life’ pavilion. The notice comes just a just a few short weeks prior to the theme park’s 30th anniversary.

The pavilion, which initially opened in 1989 under sponsorship of MetLife, who would eventually drop sponsorship in 2001. The pavilion, which celebrated its last hurrah during the holiday season in 2006, has slowly transformed itself into the theme park’s ‘Festival Center,’ with access to ‘Body Wars’ being sealed off and the theaters for ‘Cranium Command’ and ‘The Making of Me’ being repurposed to hold festival-related docs and presentations. The future for the original theming of the pavilion, with its iconic double-helix DNA structure outside, grew ever more bleak, with reports often stating that should the pavilion ever return, it would not be in the familiar form it once was.

This prediction seemingly continues to be the case with the latest filing, which has Tampa-based Kimmins Contracting Group performing the work. Just what the work entails is anyone’s guess at this point as the textbook ‘definition’ of selective demolition is pretty vague and can involve virtually anything short of razing the entire building itself, but usually does involve modifying the physical form of the building in some capacity all the while maintaining the structure’s integrity.

There’s absolutely no reason to believe it based simply on this filing, but could Walt Disney World be preparing to make an announcement regarding the pavilion’s future just in time for Epcot’s 30th on October 1?

REPORT: ‘Festival of the Lion King’ at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Won’t See 2013

The latest species on the endangered list to be highlighted at Disney’s Animal Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort will be the Tumble Monkey, if reports are to be believed. A reliable insider has advised us that the gymnasts performing at the popular ‘Festival of the Lion King’ show located at Camp Minnie-Mickey have been put on six month notice (as of last month) and — to date — there have been no changes or amendments made to said job loss notification.

If this is indeed the case, it basically sets FOTLK for an early 2013 closing at the latest, lasting perhaps no longer than February (we were provided only with a rough timeline, not a specific date). Even so, it would be possible for the company to simply end the show and pay off the remainder of the contract should it determine to be more cost effective to do so.

The logical explanation provided for the end of the popular show’s reign (which has been a staple at the park since it opened in 1998) is that Camp Minnie-Mickey will be leveled in favor of ‘Avatarland’ which is expected to break ground in 2013. Most recently, reports have come in that ‘Avatarland’ is anywhere from stalled-to-canceled, but these reports mostly cite an IGN report which mentions only that the project is delayed, but even that arguably incorrectly culls its info from its own cited source, which effectively bases the rumor on nothing more than a combination of no concept art being publicly shared and (what amounts to) fanfic.

While The Walt Disney Company is being conspicuously mum on its plans for ‘Avatarland,’ it has seemingly been moving forward with the project, conducting balloon surveys and, of course, telling its current cast members their services will no longer be required soon.
