Minnie Mouse Collection by Gerlan Jeans to Debut at New York Fashion Week

Gerlan Jeans has announced that as part of its Spring/Summer 2013 ‘Gerl Power’ collection, it will incorporate fashion icon Minnie Mouse into her own line of clothing.

The Minnie-inspired clothing is described as vivid repeat prints that showcase Minnie’s many moods and then ‘sets her signature bow free to fly!’ The signature ‘Minnie Bow’ is seen throughout the collection as a symbol of empowerment, taking the bow to new heights and making it the must-have accessory of the season. Fashion enthusiasts will take note of the flirty ‘Minnie Maxi-skirt’ and sassy ‘Bow-veralls’ as showpieces of the collection.

‘Minnie Mouse is a fashion icon that transcends time,’ said Stephanie Kraus, vice president of global product development and softlines for Disney Consumer Products. ‘Our collaboration with Gerlan Jeans brings to life Minnie’s flirty vitality and introduces her to a new generation of young women who will be inspired to infuse their fashion with fun.’

Both the Gerl Power and Minnie Mouse lines will be unveiled when Gerlan Jeans takes to the runway as part of New York’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on September 13, 2012.

‘Frankenweenie’ Victor and Sparky Ad, New Hi-Res Stills

Via its YouTube channel, Walt Disney Studios has shared its latest ad for Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie, which opens in theaters nationwide on October 5. They have also provided us with two new stills from the film which have been added to our gallery below.

A feature-length stop-motion remake of the original short film by Burton, Frankenweenie is a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new ‘leash on life’ can be monstrous.

Ross Lynch ‘Austin & Ally’ Soundtrack Release and Signing Event at Disneyland Resort

In honor of the release of the ‘Austin & Ally’ soundtrack, from the popular Disney Channel series of the same name, co-star Ross Lynch will be appearing at Studio Disney 365, located in the Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort on September 23, 2012, for a CD release and signing event.

To participate in the signing, guests must purchase a copy of the CD at Studio Disney 365 beginning at 8 am on September 23 (limit of two CDs per guest). Guests will receive a single voucher allowing them to return to meet with Ross Lynch from 1 – 4 pm. There will be a maximum of 300 guests allowed to partake in the event.

‘Disney Movies Anywhere’ Trademark Applications Filed

Last month, we offered up evidence that Disney’s (NYSE:DIS) proprietary digital film access system, once known as Disney Studio All Access, had undergone a name change to now be known as ‘Disney Movies Anywhere.’ Although DISNEYMOVIESANYWHERE.COM ultimately goes to the DSAA preview site (via disneymoviesanywhere.disney.go.com) and the company has kindly removed the website pictured here (which was never at the aforementioned domain name ironically enough).

Despite making changes to hide the new name, however, the Walt Disney Company formally filed several trademark applications last week for ‘Disney Movies Anywhere’ for the following areas:

Online retail store services
Provision of electronic access to audio and video media; provision of access to audio and video media stored electronically; providing electronic access to digital media; providing electronic access to digital media streaming devices; providing electronic access to digital entertainment systems for purchasing, managing, watching, and storing digital content; providing on-line communications links for the linking of digital content across different platforms, systems, and channels
Entertainment, education and online services
Conversion of digital content into other forms of digital content; providing electronic verification of online orders of digital content and generating electronic permission allowing users to access such digital content
Computer security services; authentication, issuance, and validation of digital certificates and codes

At this time, it is expected that ‘Disney Movies Anywhere’ will continue to use the Disney-developed Keychest digital rights authorization system.

WDW Refurb Update: Studio Backlot Tour, HISTK Playground Extension

The official Walt Disney World Resort website has been updated to advise that the existing ‘Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set’ play area refurbishment at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been extended through November 16, 2012. It is also listing the Studio Backlot Tour (and subsequently the AFI Showcase exhibit) as being closed from November 1, 2012 through November 16, however it is being reported elsewhere that the closure will actually begin in October, likely on the 8th.

~~We will update with official dates as they become available to us.~~ The official website calendar has been updated to reflect the October 8 closure date.

‘Cinderella’ Collector’s Edition Soundtrack to Feature Newly Recorded ‘Lost Chords’

Continuing with what appears to be a new tradition, the ‘Cinderella Collector’s Edition’ soundtrack will contain several of the film’s ‘lost chords,’ re-recorded and fully produced just as the company has recently done for The Aristocats and The Rescuers, according to Amazon.com.

The Collector’s Edition will consist of 24 tracks with 14 of them being dedicated to songs that were written for but did not make it into the film for whatever reason. While the songs (‘I’m In The Middle of a Muddle,’ ‘Dancing On A Cloud,’ ‘The Dress My Mother Wore,’ ‘The Mouse Song,’ ‘The Face That I See In the Night,’ ‘Sing a Little, Dream A Little’ and ‘I Lost My Heart At the Ball’) have been released previously in their included demo form on DVD, they will each be accompanied by a fully produced version ‘featuring full orchestration and mastering as if they would have been included in original films.’ Unfortunately Amazon.com does not list who recorded the new tracks, but if the aforementioned releases are any indication, they will be performed by contemporary artists.

The soundtrack will be available to own on October 2, 2012, the same day the Blu-ray is released, and is currently available for pre-order.

VIDEO: ‘Wreck It Ralph’ Faces Wrath of ‘King of Kong’ at PAX; Free Screening Contest

He may have been the first person to break the million point barrier on Donkey Kong, but ‘King of Kong’ Steve Weibe will need quite a bit more practice when it comes to facing Wreck-it Ralph in the game of ‘Fix-It Felix Jr,’ based on both Wreck-It Ralph from Walt Disney Animation Studios and the legacy of 8-bit video games.

Weibe was invited by Disney to visit the Wreck-It Ralph exhibit at GameWorks for the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) in Seattle where he had the opportunity to play the ‘Fix-It Felix Jr’ arcade game which premiered at San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year. While he managed to top the high score list, Weibe felt way short of the million points mark, though in his defense it was not only his first time playing the game, but it wasn’t precisely his cup o’ tea either. Despite drawing comparisons to arcade classics such as Donkey Kong, Rampage and others, Weibe compares it to Q*Bert of all things. In an interview held later, he explained that in Donkey Kong, moving Mario is a constant, but in ‘Fix It Felix Jr,’ Felix jumps from window ledge to window ledge, making the gameplay closer to how Q*Bert jumps from block to block. He did, however, liken the game’s jump button to that of the hammer button in DK.

As an added incentive for those in the Seattle area, anyone who can beat Weibe’s score at GameWorks by 11:59 pm on Sunday will receive a free private screening of Wreck-It Ralph before it debuts in theaters (no PAX admission required).

Wreck-It Ralph opens in theaters nationwide on November 2, 2012. A limited number of ‘Fix-It Felix Jr’ arcade games are expected to appear at participating movie theaters.
