The Walt Disney Resort and Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings have announced the Disney’s Couture Wedding Collection by celebrity wedding designer David Tutera.

“I look forward to sharing my new David Tutera for Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings product collection with you. My wish is that that my collection will provide meaningful heirloom keepsakes for you to enjoy on the most special day of your life and for years to come,” says David Tutera.

Hyperion Unveils ‘Kernl’ Web Publishing Initiative

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that tomorrow’s broadcast of ABC’s Good Morning America will mark the official debut of a new ‘e-imprint’ initiative by Disney publisher Hyperion called Kernl (reasons behind name/spelling not revealed). Looking like your standard run-of-the-mill web-based video player, the Kernl is offered in a tabbed format and offers more in-depth text and other forms of information to supplement the originating content.

If you’re not confused about why this is news, please let me know, because I sure don’t get it.

Star Wars Weekends Host Jay Laga’aia Officially Turns to the Dark Side

The 501st Legion reported earlier today that Star Wars actor-turned-Star Wars Weekends host Jay Laga’aia has officially joined the dark side and has enlisted as a stormtrooper (TK 6352 to be exact). In fact, Laga’aia even assumed a false identity during the application process to keep it a secret.

The 501st Legion and the Rebel Legion provide characters for the Star Wars Weekends at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and its parade (all but Darth Vader I believe). No word on whether Laga’aia will be participating in the parade as a stormtrooper or himself, but I’d place most bets on the latter.

Disney’s ‘Ponyo’ to close L.A. Film Festival

PonyoVariety is reporting that Disney’s star-studded, English-dubbed version of Hayao Miyazaki’s film will be closing the Los Angeles Film Festival on June 28.

The movie whose plot is loosely based on that of The Little Mermaid is set to be released nationwide on August 14.

Papercutz to Produce Graphic Novels Based on Disney Fairies Franchise

Publishers Weekly is reporting that New York-based Papercutz who has made a name for itself by producing comics for the youth and tween market will start publishing graphic novels starring Tinker Bell and the rest of her fairy friends in both hardcover and paperback formats. The publisher plans on releasing four graphic novels a year with the first being released in April 2010.
