NEW YORK, Aug. 31 — “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” with Emmy Award-winning host Meredith Vieira, is pumping up the excitement for its eighth season by revealing ten consecutive $1-million moments this fall in the all-new Tournament of Ten. WAYNE, N.J., Aug. 31 — Toys”R”Us, Inc. and Disney Consumer Products (DCP) today announced that Toys”R”Us will carry an expanded assortment of exclusive Disney-themed Halloween costumes for boys, girls and babies to highlight the good works of Children Affected by AIDS Foundation (CAAF). To showcase their continued support of CAAF in its mission to provide assistance to children affected by HIV/AIDS in the United States and around the world, Toys”R”Us, Inc. and DCP made a joint contribution of $50,000 to kick off the 2009 costume program.
Beginning in September, an expanded line of 25 costumes based on popular Disney characters can be found at Toys”R”Us and Babies”R”Us stores and online at Toysrus.com, including beautifully crafted costumes resembling Disney Princess characters, Disney Pixar Toy Story’s “Buzz Lightyear” and “Woody”, Power Rangers, Winnie-the-Pooh and Tigger, and Disney Fairies’ “Tinker Bell.” The number of costumes included in this unique program doubles the offering from last year, and each bears a recognizable hangtag featuring the CAAF logo and a united mission statement from both companies.
The hangtags, along with unique signage, will help customers identify these costumes in stores nationwide, while online shoppers can find the assortment at Toysrus.com/ExclusiveCostumes. This year, CAAF will also highlight these costumes in a series of print and broadcast public service announcements that feature CAAF’s national spokesperson Jamie Lee Curtis, and promote the organization’s signature Dream Halloween events, of which the Toys”R”Us Children’s Fund and Disney Consumer Products are longtime benefactors.

It’s been a while since we offered an additional list of D23 Expo updates as the news that’s been coming out has been large enough to require its own entries, but we’ve also been accumulating a number of small news items so here they are:
– The photography policy has been updated to prohibit photography/videography during select screenings in addition to the Archives exhibit.
– The autograph policy has been introduced: No personal items from home are allowed. All items to be signed must be acquired/purchased at the event.

Review: There’s not an awful lot to this app, with one click on the iPhone/iPod Touch, it launches and connects to the Radio Disney website where it begins streaming, providing you with song/artist information along with an artist photo (when available). Another screen allows you to view the last 10 songs played on Radio Disney without disrupting song play. Additional features (such as making a song request, sending a shoutout, answering a poll, etc) require using the device’s Safari app to reach the Radio Disney website which exits the application and shuts off the music. The website itself has a really nice opening screen but quickly becomes difficult to navigate and to discern where the links to continue are and — to be blunt — these additional functions are so simple, they could easily be integrated directly into the app.
With over eleven million total viewers, Disney Channel’s 77th original movie became the second most popular Disney Channel Original Movie (DCOM) ever in terms of total viewers (HSM2 holds on to first) last night.
It was the most viewed event on all of television last night across all channels, almost doubling that of CBS, and joins both Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana and the Princess Protection Program to make the Disney Channel home to the top 3 scripted cable programs of the summer. Even more impressive, the Disney Channel holds the 4 most viewed scripted programs since 2007 with High School Musical 2, Wizards of Waverly Place the Movie, an episode of Hannah Montana and Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana.
It didn’t take long before Thomas Kinkade hinted at the subject of his next entry into his Disney Dreams series on his blog that we were treated to a look at his newest painting titled Cinderella Wishes Upon a Dream featuring Cindy and her Prince Charming taking a leisurely stroll with Cinderella Castle in the background.

Although we haven’t gotten confirmation directly from Disney as of yet, a reputable source has indicated that the re-opening date of the Tomorrowland Transit Authority in the Magic Kingdom has been pushed back yet again, for a third time. The current expected re-opening date is September 12.

With no official word from Disney to speak of, Laughing Place has posted a list of names that have been floating around as rumored inductees as Disney Legends. While LP claims Disney made the announcement, we can find no record of such at this time short of the names being listed from a couple of individuals on the web.
