KELOWNA, British Columbia — Children who visit the snow-covered virtual world of Club Penguin can put the time they spend online to better use than ever this holiday season thanks to a unique giving program that launches this week.
From now until January 4, visitors to Shoes.com can enter to win a 3 day/2 night trip for two, including hotel and airfare, to attend a live taping of Hannah Montana which is all the more special since I believe the audiences for the show are generally by invitation only. In addition to the grand prize, there will be five first prizes of a Disney Holiday Gift Pack which consists of 10 CDs from many Disney film and television productions as well as recording artists from Disney Records.
You can enter once per day. To view the rules and to enter, click here.
Earlier this week, we mentioned that in addition to releasing the Cutesters and Urban 3 series of Vinylmation collectibles on December 15 at the Disneyland Resort, that Vinylmation Apparel will also be introduced to the world (er.. Land). Now we get our first look at what just some of the Vinylmation-inspired line of clothing looks like courtesy of the official blog.
The limited edition consists of 24 unique pieces, each handpainted, numbered and signed by Noah. Each comes in a custom construction lunchbox and retails for $495 + tax and will be available for sale as soon as the store opens for business.
Due to weather concerns, Walt Disney World has decided to move the parade taping events scheduled for Saturday, December 4 to Sunday, December 6. Earlier today, the performance by the Jonas Brothers had to be delayed until Sunday and Celine Dion’s performance was moved to the Grand Floridian because of heavy rain conditions.
Guests who had tickets for this morning’s 7 am taping are eligible to attend the taping on Sunday. In addition, Walt Disney World is extending an option to those with tickets for tomorrow’s 11:30 am session to show up for the 7 am session if they so wish.
Just spotted earlier today on Big Bad Toy Store (although other importers are likely to carry them) is this set of 2 7″ tall Ultra Design Figures of Mia Wasikowska as Alice and Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter from Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland by Medicom.
Expected to ship in 2010, the set will run you about $35.
Now if something a little larger was what you had in mind, drink this one in. Medicom is also releasing a 12″ Mad Hatter doll which is sure to grab any passerby’s attention. Pricing for this crazy puppy will run you roughly $150-$200 depending on whom you buy it from.
Title: Phineas and Ferb Arcade (link)
Publisher: Walt Disney
Released: December 3, 2009
iTouch?: Yes (WiFi/Internet required for scoreboard)
Pros: Quick, addictive play, free preview available
Cons: Controls sometimes difficult, navigation buttons inconsistent
Review: In a series of 3 mini-games, Phineas and Ferb brings the number one show for kids ages 6-11 (not to mention popular with every other demographic) to the iPhone.
Here’s the plot: While Phineas and Ferb are trying to build a snow mountain so they can snowboard in the backyard (S’no Problem), older sister Candace goes surfing in the backyard tide pool trying to impress Jeremy (Cowabunga Candace!), all the while Perry the Platypus is acting as Agent P, trying to protect the secret hideout from infiltrators (Agent P’s Hideout).
Here’s the thing: If you’re a Phineas and Ferb fanatic, you might find yourself thinking those game names sound familiar — and they should. All three are actual almost-direct ports of existing games you can play online for free. Granted the controls are different given the nature of a personal computer versus an iPhone (and to be honest, in the latter two games, the iPhone wins in this respect), but gameplay is virtually the same which means if you aren’t familiar with them, you can try them out online first before buying the game (see links below).
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. and ANAHEIM, Calif., Dec. 4 — ‘Tis the season to be merry at Disney Parks, when the 26th annual “Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade,” featuring award-winning musical talent and iconic stars performing in this year’s television special, airs December 25 on ABC-TV.
This year’s show promises to dazzle viewers with must-see performances by Celine Dion and Stevie Wonder. Pop sensations the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato spread joy to all as enchanting sounds from world-renowned musical artist Yanni and his Yanni Voices echo through the park. “American Idol” Season 8 winner, Kris Allen, will perform and “Wizards of Waverly Place” star Selena Gomez will make a special appearance in the annual telecast.
From the newest Disney Princess – Tiana – to Mickey Mouse and all his ‘toon pals,’ beloved Disney characters will embrace the holiday spirit aboard awe-inspiring floats that “deck the halls” as they glide through the Disney theme parks.
Two of television’s most popular celebrities will appear as the hosts of this year’s program. From the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Florida, popular morning show personality Kelly Ripa returns as host, doubling her duties while partner Regis Philbin recovers from recent surgery. At Disneyland Park in California, worldwide television and radio host Ryan Seacrest takes center stage for the West Coast festivities. Nick Cannon, from “America’s Got Talent” makes his “Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade” television debut as co-host/man-on-the-street for the telecast.
The two-hour televised special will air nationally in High-definition December 25 on ABC-TV at 10 a.m. Eastern and 9 a.m. Central, Mountain and Pacific times.
While parents and children prepare to offer their day of volunteer service in 2010, two families will share their encouraging stories during the parade telecast of how they’ve made a difference by volunteering in their hometown communities, the inspiring motives that moved them to give back and the lessons their children have taken with them along the way.
Throughout the telecast, chart-topping talent and award-winning artists from around the world come together to share in the Christmas merriment at Disney Parks. (Please note: all talent and floats subject to change)
It’s been over a year since the incredibly popular Walt Disney World Satellite Maps by Robo section has been added to Stitch Kingdom and it was long due for an update. Thanks to Robo, many of the maps have now been updated to reflect changes in the resort over the past year as well as some additional maps added, most notably those for Downtown Disney and individual lands in the Magic Kingdom.
I also took the opportunity to address the fact that users needed to click Search in order to view all maps initially. Now all maps will be shown automatically by default while still allowing users to filter by category and optional subcategory.
Effective December 4, Studio Disney 365 located at Downtown Disney at the Disneyland Resort has new package prices as follows: From the Top – $19.95; Color Cue – $29.95; That’s a Wrap – $39.95; Secret Star – $34.95; Rock Star – $14.95.
Reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance by calling 714-781-Style.
