Music and choreographer details have been unveiled for “Thin Ice,” a live, televised figure-skating reality competition that will originate from the Premier Ballroom of the MGM Grand at Foxwoods March 18 through 21, and will air in primetime on the ABC Television Network on March 19 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) and March 21 (7:00-8:00 p.m., ET).
Beginning Wednesday, March 17, ABC will launch a full hydro projection video and audio to promote the upcoming season of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.” See current and former stars, along with the professional dancers, dancing on water in the fountain at the Grove shopping center in Los Angeles (on the water fountain across from Pacific Theatres). The captivating video, which will be projected four times per hour starting at approximately 7:00 PM PT and then repeated every hour, will be set to music leading up to the “Dancing with the Stars” two-hour season premiere on MONDAY, MARCH 22 (8:00-10:02 p.m., ET) on ABC.
The PlayStation 3 edition of Toy Story 3 from Disney Interactive Studios will be among the first titles to support the PlayStation Move motion controller in addition to the DUALSHOCK3 and SIXAXIS controllers according to a list posted by Sony. The controller, along with Microsoft’s Natal for XBox has been causing waves of whispers around the net recently, offering hope for non-Nintendo enthusiasts that the upcoming Junction Point title Epic Mickey may eventually find its way on other gaming systems besides the Wii.
Radio Disney will launch a new multi-platform daily programming feature, ”N.B.T.: Making It Big,” chronicling the rise of Allstar Weekend, the inaugural year “N.B.T.” (“Next Big Thing”) finalists now signed to Hollywood Records. Premiering on WEDNESDAY, MARCH 17, “N.B.T.: Making It Big” provides audiences on-air, online and via mobile devices an inside look at what it takes to make it big in the music industry. “N.B.T.: Making It Big” will take Radio Disney and Disney Channel audiences behind the scenes of Allstar Weekend’s journey leading up to the June 22 release of their debut album on Hollywood Records. Featuring details on how they first formed their band and became “N.B.T.” artists to what they love most about recording sessions, photo shoots, and making music videos, “N.B.T.: Making It Big” will give audiences a first-hand perspective into the lives of these rising stars.
Barnes and Noble announced its ‘More in Store’ program today which offers free bonus content to owners of its Nook portable e-book reader when visiting the store.
Amongst the offerings announced is the ability for Nook owners to personalize their Nooks with 13 screensavers, based on director Tim Burton’s sketches from Alice in Wonderland from Walt Disney Studios. The screensavers include images of Alice, the Mad Hatter, the White Rabbit, the Red Queen and other memorable characters from the imaginative movie. First up is the introduction of new Toy Story 3 pal Sparks. Sparks’ manufacturer’s description is as follows: Sparks will fly – literally – during electrifying playtimes with your new robot friend Sparks! This retro-inspired toy has flashing red LED eyes and a blaster cavity that actually spits out real sparks when he’s rolled along on his sturdy rubber wheels. Sparks also sports telescoping arms with working pincers, and an elevator action that raises his entire body to new heights. Sparking action completely child-safe. The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) has announced a couple of Content Theater Sessions for the 2010 NAB Show which bring Disney technology to the forefront. The show takes place in Las Vegas from April 10-15.
In ‘Alice in Wonderland’: Turning Fantasy into Motion Picture Reality,the session will will explore both the production and post production processes, and will describe the challenges of creating characters of unique heights and proportions with special attention to the hybrid of live action and visual effects and the conversion of 2D to stereoscopic 3D. Expected to appear on the panel are: Art Repola, executive vice president of visual effects and production, The Walt Disney Studios; Ken Ralston, multi Academy Award-winning visual effects supervisor for the film; Corey Turner, stereographer for the film; and Tom Peitzman, co-producer/visual effects producer for the film. The session is scheduled to place Monday, April 12.
