Radio Disney will launch a new multi-platform daily programming feature, ”N.B.T.: Making It Big,” chronicling the rise of Allstar Weekend, the inaugural year “N.B.T.” (“Next Big Thing”) finalists now signed to Hollywood Records. Premiering on WEDNESDAY, MARCH 17, “N.B.T.: Making It Big” provides audiences on-air, online and via mobile devices an inside look at what it takes to make it big in the music industry. “N.B.T.: Making It Big” will take Radio Disney and Disney Channel audiences behind the scenes of Allstar Weekend’s journey leading up to the June 22 release of their debut album on Hollywood Records. Featuring details on how they first formed their band and became “N.B.T.” artists to what they love most about recording sessions, photo shoots, and making music videos, “N.B.T.: Making It Big” will give audiences a first-hand perspective into the lives of these rising stars.
Barnes and Noble announced its ‘More in Store’ program today which offers free bonus content to owners of its Nook portable e-book reader when visiting the store.
Amongst the offerings announced is the ability for Nook owners to personalize their Nooks with 13 screensavers, based on director Tim Burton’s sketches from Alice in Wonderland from Walt Disney Studios. The screensavers include images of Alice, the Mad Hatter, the White Rabbit, the Red Queen and other memorable characters from the imaginative movie. First up is the introduction of new Toy Story 3 pal Sparks. Sparks’ manufacturer’s description is as follows: Sparks will fly – literally – during electrifying playtimes with your new robot friend Sparks! This retro-inspired toy has flashing red LED eyes and a blaster cavity that actually spits out real sparks when he’s rolled along on his sturdy rubber wheels. Sparks also sports telescoping arms with working pincers, and an elevator action that raises his entire body to new heights. Sparking action completely child-safe. Requires two AA batteries (not included).
The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) has announced a couple of Content Theater Sessions for the 2010 NAB Show which bring Disney technology to the forefront. The show takes place in Las Vegas from April 10-15.
In ‘Alice in Wonderland’: Turning Fantasy into Motion Picture Reality,the session will will explore both the production and post production processes, and will describe the challenges of creating characters of unique heights and proportions with special attention to the hybrid of live action and visual effects and the conversion of 2D to stereoscopic 3D. Expected to appear on the panel are: Art Repola, executive vice president of visual effects and production, The Walt Disney Studios; Ken Ralston, multi Academy Award-winning visual effects supervisor for the film; Corey Turner, stereographer for the film; and Tom Peitzman, co-producer/visual effects producer for the film. The session is scheduled to place Monday, April 12.

no images were foundEarlier today, after a presentation of Toy Story 3 to attendees at the ShoWest convention at the Paris hotel in Las Vegas, Disney/Pixar’s John Lasseter, Lee Unkrich and Darla Anderson accepted the Big Ten award on behalf of Pixar Animation Studios in honor of its ten-in-a-row box office smashes.
The award may be a bit premature, however, if even a single percent of what we have heard from early reviews of Toy Story 3 is true. If so, the crew at Pixar are best advised to start working on their Big Eleven award acceptance speech.

At ShoWest 2010, Dolby Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE:DLB), announced it is working with Walt Disney Pictures® and Pixar® Animation Studios to deliver a new audio format, Dolby® Surround 7.1. Disney® and Pixar have stated that Dolby Surround 7.1 will be launched in select theatres with the release of Toy Story® 3 in 3D this June.
“For 40 years Dolby has not only provided content creators with the tools to create a more realistic audio experience, but has also enabled the exhibitor to deliver audiences the ability to experience the content as the creator intended,” said Page Haun, Senior Director, Marketing, Cinema Market Segment, Dolby Laboratories. “The release of Toy Story 3 in a discrete 7.1 mix will raise the bar for movie theatre owners and their patrons.”
Amid sunny skies at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, nearly a hundred Disney Cast Members gathered early this morning to show their support of the American Red Cross and give a ray of hope to the people of Haiti.
Over the last few weeks, approximately 1,700 individual Walt Disney World Resort Cast Members raised more than $47,000 for the American Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development Fund through direct contributions from their paychecks. Many donations came from Cast Members who work in Disney Resorts; they have found the effort especially meaningful as many been directly impacted by the tragedy in Haiti.
