Disney has sent us a teaser poster for the upcoming Jerry Bruckheimer highly-anticipated blockbuster Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time starring Jake Gyllenhaal. The film is set to be released in North America on May 28, 2010.
PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. (July 18, 2009) – In a surprise celebration onboard the Disney Magic cruise ship, Disney Cruise Line announced the VoluntEAR of the Year recipients, awarding the efforts of Disney crew members giving back to communities around the globe.
Beverage Host, Archie Bugarin, Broadcast Engineer, Edwin Non and Show Control Engineer, Derek Segarra were recognized for their collective efforts supporting outreach projects in Disney Cruise Line ports, as well as giving back to education programs in their home country of the Philippines.
“We are proud to honor the dedication of these crew members,” said Mark Witko, Disney Cruise Line Community and Government Relations Manager. “They exemplify the positive impact that Disney Cruise Line strives to have on communities, both in our ports of call and around the world.”
Tyler Perry, the creator of the popular Medea character and multiple sit-coms has a lot of televisions. And it’s because of one television, not in-particular, that Perry overheard a small boy crying on the news because he was kicked out of a swimming pool because of the color of his skin.
According to the posting on his website, the private club’s pool had apparently been rented out for use by an organization called Creative Steps, founded by Althea Wright to benefit inner-city children who are primarily black and Hispanic. According to Perry, the President of the club initially responded by returning the money back to the organization saying, ‘We don’t want to change the complexion of our club.’
Playhouse Disney’s #1 preschool series, “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse,” celebrates Pluto with a marathon spotlighting Mickey’s loyal pal, SATURDAY, AUG. 29 (7:00–10:00 a.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel. The marathon includes the premiere of a new episode, “Pluto’s Playmate” (9:00 a.m., ET/PT), which was inspired by the original 1941 Pluto cartoon of the same name featuring Salty the seal.
In “Pluto’s Playmate,” Mickey, Pluto and pals teach Clubhouse visitor Salty the seal some new tricks for his debut in Mickey’s Circus. The marathon schedule is:
ABC today announced the premiere of “Shaq Vs.,” a new competition series starring NBA superstar Shaquille O’Neal. The one-hour series, in which O’Neal will take his athletic prowess beyond the basketball court and strive to become a champion in a new sporting event each week, will debut TUESDAY, AUGUST 18 (9:00- 10:00 p.m. ET) on the ABC Television Network.
Over the course of the series, O’Neal will challenge Olympian and World Champion Michael Phelps in swimming; Ben Roethlisberger, Super Bowl-winning quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, in football; reigning U.S. Open, Australian Open and Wimbledon Champion Serena Williams in tennis; championship fighter Oscar de la Hoya in boxing; two time NL MVP and St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols in baseball; and Olympic gold medalists Kerri Walsh and Misty May-Treanor in beach volleyball.
“These athletes may be on top of their game, but I am up for the challenge,” said O’Neal. “I plan to train hard and win, so look out.”

Out of a record 425 submissions representing 25 countries, the judges of the Jackson Hole Film Festival have selected Disneynature’s Crimson Wing and EARTH as nominees for a total of eight awards.
Crimson Wing has been announced as a finalist for categories including Best Animal Behavior Program, best Wildlife Habitat Program and Best Theatrical Program.
EARTH has been announced as a finalist for Best Theatrical Program as well as the festival’s top prize, Outstanding Achievment. EARTH is one of only three films nominated for this award which seeks out to recognize a specific
outstanding achievement in technology, innovative storytelling, use of CGI or 3-D, in-field challenge or other extraordinary accomplishment.
Returning to life September 25 and continuing through November 1, Halloween Time brings fun for all ages to the Disneyland Resort with new screams at Space Mountain and a new, nightly fireworks show. Halloween Time offers families a chance to interact with some of Disney’s most beloved characters, dressed in seasonal costumes at Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure parks. It also gives guests a unique opportunity to experience some spooky fun with Disney’s more sinister characters, the Disney villains.
For older kids and adults, Halloween Time offers a new attraction: Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy in Tomorrowland at Disneyland. For the first time, riders will experience not only the thrill of flying through the galaxy, but the exhilaration of ghosts and ghouls screaming through space trying to contact them. Creepy creatures lurk around every turn as the eerie attraction provides thrilling drops like never before.
New this year is a fireworks spooktacular that will haunt the nighttime sky throughout the Halloween season. Jack Skellington, the Master of Scaremonies, invites everyone to join in the celebration, including a cast of Disney villains who get into the sprit with a wicked sense of fun.
ANAHEIM, Callif., July 17, 2009 – Marty Sklar, Executive Vice President and Walt Disney Imagineering Ambassador, spent a lifetime making magic for the Walt Disney Company. After 54 years of service, he was honored with a tribute window at Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., on Friday, July 17. The celebration coincided with the 54th anniversary of the opening of Disneyland, the place where Sklar began his Disney career.
Making it the number one network from 8:00 pm – 9:30 pm last night, the Disney Channel’s crossover event between Wizards of Waverly Place, The Suite Life on Deck and Hannah Montana dominated with a whopping 9.3 million total viewers in 5.8 million households. Disney Channel defeated second-place CBS by over 4 million viewers.
The show became the number one scripted telecast in 2009 in all television in total key demographics of Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14 and the number one scripted telecast on cable with total viewers. Only the Super Bowl surpassed the number of Kids 6-11 watching the event in 2009 across [i]all[/i] television. The same records were previously held by the Disney Channel Original Movie, the Princess Protection Program which debuted last month.
