A beloved Disneyland attraction returns to Fantasyland on Friday, Feb. 6, when “it’s a small world” opens with some new storytelling magic. It’s being reported that Disney will invest $233 million into new projects for the free Disney Channel in Russia currently in development in partnership with Media One TV (Disney will have a 49% stake in the channel). The channel is already expected to air dubbed versions of Hannah Montana and other Disney Channel staples, but will also feature exclusive content developed directly for the market.
O the humanity! Spring Walt Disney World guests are still reeling over the cancellation over the never-quite-official Mickey’s Pirate & Princess Parties for 2009 and now this. According to the Orlando Sentinel’s Hal Boedeker, the planets and stars (Disney stars that is) have completely misaligned for this tradition. The games are reportedly taking a backseat to the stars’ careers and with the introduction of Disney XD, other promotional plans are in the works. See the rest of the report here.

Beginning February 9, packages will become available through August 15, 2009 for the promotion where guests can purchase 4 nights and get an additional 3 nights free. To qualify for the offer, packages must be booked by March 29.
MediumAtLarge.net, the official blog for the NY Comic Con (February 6 – 8 ) has announced that as part of the weekend festivities, it will offer a screening of the first fifty minutes of Disney/Pixar’s UP. The screening will be hosted by director Pete Docter and producer Jonas Rivera.

Disney Vacation Club has set an Aug. 4 opening date for the Bay Lake Tower, the time-share addition Disney is building next to its Contemporary Resort.
The date is earlier than the “Fall 2009” target Disney had been using until now.
Disney says customers who have purchased shares in Bay Lake will be able to start making reservations Feb. 8. That’s also the same date Disney will begin accepting reservations for in its Treehouse Villas from customers who own stakes in the Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa time share.
