Just how well does the moat that surrounds Cinderella Castle at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom protect the castle and (New) Fantasyland from ne’er do wells? Just how to defeat the most magical place on Earth’s defenses and make scores of Disney cast members and characters alike succumb to your almighty being is at the heart of this question recently proposed on Quora.com in the Military Strategy category.

Proposed tactics range from a Dumbo-ized take on the Trojan Horse ploy to an all out assault, shamelessly including “it’s a small world” in its collateral damage. While we commend the operation known as ‘Bibbidi Bobbidi Boom!’ simply for its creative name, we’re not sure on whether facing the wrath of a certain Marvel super hero team is worth the effort (‘If we can’t save Cinderella Castle, we will avenge it.’) The most agreeable method, however, seems to be the most direct route and that’s simply making dining reservations (albeit a lot of dining reservations) for Cinderella’s Royal Table. The plus side: quality princess time, the negative: the plotter thinks Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride is still around the corner.

Disney Studios Collectors Cards Series Now Available Exclusively for D23 Members

Disney Studios Collector SeriesDisney D23, the official fan club for The Walt Disney Company, today announced the availability of a new 99 card series of trading cards celebrating the rich animation history of the Walt Disney Studios.

Each pack contains eight cards measuring 3″ x 4.5″ as well as a limited-edition, numbered mini-lithograph, described as a sericel-inspired translucent card. Packs also contain a special ‘Behind the Scenes with Becky Cline’ card which includes facts pulled from the Disney Studios Archive by Cline, the Archives Director.

Each pack of eight sells for $7.95 and subscribers will automatically receive two packs approximately every 4-6 weeks automatically, with the ability to cancel at any time. As an introductory offer, the first pack is just $1.95 and the shipping and processing fees (normally $3.95 per shipment) are waived.

The series will be available to the public beginning September 1, but Disney D23 members have the opportunity to purchase the series subscription beginning today. As an added bonus, the first 1,000 members to subscribe to the series will receive three bonus cards, commemorating Steamboat Willie, Brave Little Tailor and The Band Concert.

The series is being sold and fulfilled by Buena Vista Catalogue Co., which is owned by The Walt Disney Company. You can view additional information as well as purchase online here, although there have been several reports of problems doing so at this time. Orders have been made successfully over the phone at 1-888-265-9100 (Monday – Friday, 8 am – 1 am ET). Note that each pack is identical relative to its particular shipment wave.

ABC’s ‘The Chew’ to Feature Preview of New Primetime Series on September 2

Mario Batali, Michael Symon, Carla Hall, Clinton Kelly and Daphne Oz travel coast to coast — from California and New York to Hawaii and Nashville — to bring viewers a sneak peek at the ABC Fall Primetime lineup. Interviewing some of the network’s hottest new stars, the special has something for everyone. From diva-filled musical drama and deep and dark desires to quirky and “out of this world” comedies and thrillers, “The Chew Presents ABC’s Primetime Fall Preview Special” airs Sunday, September 2 (7:00-8:00 p.m., ET) on ABC.

Highlights of the special include:

“666 Park Avenue” stars Vanessa Williams (“Desperate Housewives”) and Terry O’Quinn (“Lost”) enjoy cocktails and canapés with Clinton Kelly from a chic Manhattan hotel room to talk about their sexy, seductive new primetime address. “666 Park Avenue” premieres Sunday, September 30 at 10:00 p.m., ET.

‘Odd Life of Timothy Green’ New Stills, Clips and Soundtrack Details

It’s hard to believe, but it’s been nearly a year to the day that we have been able to share images from Walt Disney Studios’ film, The Odd Life of Timothy Green. With just a couple of weeks before the film opens on August 15, however, that’s all about to change as Walt Disney Studios has provided us with eight new stills and one behind-the-scenes photo.

Most of the new images appear to reflect on the relationship between Timothy (Cameron ‘CJ’ Adams as he is now billed) and his new parents, Cindy and Jim Green (Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton) as well as Timothy’s extra special bond with Joni Jerome (Odeya Rush).

A few clips have also been released, essentially offering glimpses and slightly expanded looks at what we already know the setup of the film to be. In the first clip, titled ‘Dream Kid,’ Jim and Cindy are trying to come to terms with the reality that a child is not in their future, so they decide to write a recipe for their ideal child before planting it in the backyard:

In the next clip, titled ‘You Need to Look Out Back,’ Cindy is taken aback when she learns of the ‘affliction’ of newcomer-slash-houseguest Timothy, but ends up completely beside herself when she visits the backyard at the behest of Jim:

In the third and last clip, titled ‘Backpack,’ Cindy quickly learns to assume the role of first-time, over-protective mother as she and Jim send Timothy to school for the first time. Of course, she has legitimate concerns for her boy that most other mothers probably wouldn’t share:

Finally for this update, Amazon.com recently listed the tracks for the original motion picture soundtrack featuring music composed by Geoff Zanelli. The album (which appears to be available only on CD as a record on-demand option, otherwise as a digital download) features 24, non-cryptically — almost conversational — named tracks which should give the impression that the film presents a very uplifting tone/message. The track listing is as follows:

Disney Dream Portraits by Annie Leibovitz Series Continues with Haunted Mansion, Peter Pan Tributes

Via its official blog, Disney Parks and Resorts today unveiled the first few of a new series of portraits by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz portraying celebrities in iconic classic Disney roles.

The new images feature Russell Brand poised as Captain Hook facing his nemesis, the crocodile known as Tick-Tock with the caption ‘Where every moment leaves you hungry for more’ and Jack Black, Will Ferrell and Jason Segel as the Haunted Mansion ghosts, Phinease, Ezara and Gus with the caption ‘Where you can go on the ride of your afterlife.

The images have been added to the beginning of our gallery of Disney Dream portraits below:

Additional images from the series will be included as special inserts in the fall 2012 issues of GQ, O – The Oprah Magazine, People, People En Espanol, Vanity Fair, Real Simple, Essence and InStyle.

Walt Disney Animation Studios and Walt Disney Studios have provided us with these new hi-res images showing some of the development behind the three new game worlds (Fix It Felix Jr, Sugar Rush and Hero’s Duty) as well as character development, showing how Wreck-It Ralph (voiced by John C. Reilly) and Vanellope von Schweetz (voiced by Sarah Silverman) have evolved during the film-making process.

Walt Disney Animation Studios and Emmy®-winning director Rich Moore take moviegoers on a hilarious, arcade-game-hopping journey in Wreck-It Ralph. Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly) is tired of being overshadowed by Fix-It Felix (voice of Jack McBrayer), the ‘good guy’ star of their game who always gets to save the day. But after decades doing the same thing and seeing all the glory go to Felix, Ralph decides he’s tired of playing the role of a bad guy. Sneak Peek: ‘Fashion is My Kryptonite’ from ‘Shake It Up: Japan’ with Bella Thorne, Zendaya

This Friday, Disney Channel will premiere the all-new music video for ‘Fashion is My Kryptonite from the upcoming special, ‘Shake It Up: Japan’ during the broadcast of Toy Story 3 (beginning at 8 pm ET). Performed by Bella Thorne and Zendaya, the music video also features ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ host Cat Deeley.

In the music video, Bella and Zendaya travel through a secret closet door into a fantastical fashion wonderland filled with high style and runways. The song was written by Ben Charles and the music video was directed by Marc Klasfeld (Katy Perry’s ‘Last Friday Night,’ China Anne McClain’s ‘Calling All The Monsters’).
