‘Shake It Up: Made in Japan’ To Premiere August 17 on Disney Channel

Rocky and CeCe win a trip to Japan to be part of a dance video game production and the world famous Blue Man Group performs in a madcap “Shake It Up” event that’s infused with Tokyo teen fashion and “J-Pop” music. “Shake It Up: Made In Japan” premieres Friday, August 17 at 8:00 pm ET/PT.

Zendaya and Bella Thorne perform three new original songs in the storyline: “Made In Japan,” “The Same Heart” and “Fashion is My Kryptonite.” The latter song will premiere on Radio Disney during a “Take Over” with Bella Thorne and Zendaya on Friday, July 20. Their music video for the song, guest starring Cat Deeley, will premiere on Disney Channel in August.

Beginning Friday, August 3, DisneyChannel.com/ShakeItUp will launch new music activities, games and quizzes inspired by “Shake It Up: Made In Japan,” including a quiz that will determine the Japanese-influenced fashions of a Rocky or CeCe-inspired avatar. Upon printing their avatar, viewers can learn how to assemble their own origami. Also on Friday, August 10, DisneyChannel.com/ShakeItUp will host an exclusive seven minute sneak peek of “Shake It Up: Made In Japan.”

“Shake It Up: Made in Japan” premiere on Disney Channel with a simulcast on WATCH Disney Channel. The special event will also be available on demand in WATCH Disney Channel immediately following the linear broadcast.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 18
“Shake It Up: Made in Japan” will be available on iTunes, Microsoft Xbox and Sony Playstation, as well as on Mobile VOD platforms which include AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon.

Starring are: Bella Thorne and Zendaya as CeCe Jones and Rocky Blue, Davis Cleveland as Flynn Jones, Roshon Fegan as Ty Blue, Adam Irigoyen as Deuce Martinez, Kenton Duty as Gunther Hessenheffer and Caroline Sunshine as Tinka Hessenheffer. Keone Young, Anita Barone, R. Brandon Johnson and Buddy Handleson guest star.

‘Odd Life of Timothy Green’ Free National Screenings Announced

Walt Disney Pictures has announced that it will be offering free screenings of its upcoming family film, The Odd Life of Timothy Green, nationwide beginning later this month. Free tickets to the screenings are now available through the SEE tab of the film’s See & Share app on Facebook. Tickets are available on a limited basis and it should be noted that while specific cities are listed, such as New York, the actual screening location may be elsewhere in the metro area.

The film stars Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton as a childless couple who want nothing more than to be able to star their own family, but can only dream about what their child would be like. When young Timothy (CJ Adams) shows up on their doorstep one stormy night, Cindy and Jim — and their small town of Stanleyville—learn that sometimes the unexpected can bring some of life’s greatest gifts.

The Odd Life of Timothy Green sprouts into theaters on August 15, 2012.

‘Time Machine Chefs’ Competition Seeks ‘Greatest Chef in History;’ Premieres August 16

Have you ever wondered what it was like to be a chef in 1416 A.D., or to cook in a medieval castle for kings and queens during the Tudor era? Well fasten your seatbelts and prepare for a journey through time when “Time Machine Chefs” blasts off, Thursday, August 16 at 9:00 pm ET/PT on ABC. With no modern appliances, amenities, running water or electricity, four popular chefs must create culinary masterpieces — and impress three esteemed judges — with only basic kitchen equipment, their imaginations and craftsmanship. Only one chef will be crowned The Greatest Chef in History.

The judging table consists of chef, restaurateur and cookbook author Nancy Silverton, Dave Arnold of the French Culinary Institute in New York City, and chef and cookbook author Silvena Rowe of Quince in London’s May Fair Hotel.

The “Time Machine Chefs” are:

Chef Art Smith is executive chef and co-owner of Table fifty-two in Chicago and Art and Soul in Washington, DC, as well as Southern Art and LYFE Kitchen restaurants. In 2012 Chef Smith opened his latest restaurant, Joanne’s, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, with Lady Gaga’s parents, Joseph and Cynthia Germanotta. In 1997 he became the personal chef to Oprah Winfrey, a position he held for 10 years. Chef Smith has made numerous television appearances, including Bravo’s “Top Chef Masters” and Food Network’s “Iron Chef America.” He is also the author of three award-winning cookbooks.

Chef Chris Cosentino has been executive chef of Incanto in San Francisco since 2002 and is co-owner of Boccalone, an artisanal salumeria. Chef Cosentino has worked at a number of notable restaurants, including Red Sage in Washington, DC, Rubicon, Chez Panisse, Belon and Redwood Park. He debuted his first cookbook, Beginnings: My Way to Start a Meal, in 2012 from Olive Press media.

Chef Ilan Hall is best known to television viewers as the winner of Season Two of Bravo’s “Top Chef.” Chef Hall trained at Italy’s Lorenzo de Medici Apicus Program and at the Culinary Institute of America. He is owner and executive chef of The Gorbals in Los Angeles, CA.

Chef Jill Davie is a private chef in California. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and UC Santa Cruz, Chef Davie has served as Chef de Cuisine at Josie Restaurant in Los Angeles. In August of 2006, she won the grand prize of $10,000 on Food Network’s “Hot Chefs: South Beach” competition and was a contestant on “The Next Iron Chef” in 2007. Chef Davie has appeared on numerous television programs and is currently a partner and head chef at Venice Beach Wines.

‘Jake and the Never Land Pirates: Jake Saves Bucky’ on DVD in October

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has announced that it will release the primetime special, ‘Jake and the Never Land Pirates: Jake Saves Bucky‘ on Disney DVD on October 16, 2012. The hour-long special is expected to premiere on Disney Junior in September.

Set sail with Jake and his crew on a full-length, high-speed adventure on the high seas. According to the Never Land Pirate Code, Jake and his crew must race Bucky against the Jolly Roger and the sneaky Captain Hook. But if Bucky loses, he’ll belong to Hook forever! Of course, Hook uses every trick in the book and wins the race! But, Jake and his crew might have a way to get Bucky back. With the help of Peter Pan, the young pirates embark on an adventure across Never Land that includes getting past a fire-breathing dragon! With your help, Jake’s crew can save Bucky from the devious Captain Hook!

ABC Receives 48 Emmy Nominations

ABC received 48 nominations for the 64th Primetime Emmy® Awards, covering the eligibility period of June 1, 2011 through May 31, 2012. The nominations were announced today by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences from the Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre in the NoHo Arts District, California. Television Academy Chairman and CEO Bruce Rosenblum presided over the nominations along with Kerry Washington from the ABC drama “Scandal” and Jimmy Kimmel, host of ABC’s late night show “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”

Among ABC’s nominations were 14 for “Modern Family,” which received nods for Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Supporting Actress for Julie Bowen and Sofia Vergara, and Outstanding Supporting Actor for Ed O’Neill, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Ty Burrell and Eric Stonestreet. “Dancing with the Stars” received two nominations, for Outstanding Reality – Competition Program and Tom Bergeron for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program. “Jimmy Kimmel Live” received a nod for Outstanding Variety Series, Ashley Judd received a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie for “Missing,” and “Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution” and “Shark Tank” were both nominated for Outstanding Reality Program.

Jimmy Kimmel, will host the 64th Primetime Emmy® Awards, broadcast live coast to coast, Sunday, September 23, 2012 exclusively on ABC. The festivities begin with “Emmy’s Red Carpet Live” from 7:00-8:00 p.m., ET/4:00-5:00 p.m., PT, immediately followed by the award ceremonies, live from 8:00-11:00 p.m., ET/5:00-8:00 p.m., PT. This will be Kimmel’s first time hosting the Primetime Emmy telecast. Renowned director/producer Don Mischer will serve as executive producer for a record 12th time.
