'Suburgatory' on DVDWarner Brothers Home Video has announced that it will make the complete first season of the ABC comedy ‘Suburgatory’ available to own on DVD beginning September 18, 2012, in time for the premiere of the series’ second season.

Tessa (Jane Levy) and George (Jeremy Sisto) have been on their own ever since Tessa’s mom pulled a Kramer vs. Kramer before she was even potty trained. So far, George has done a pretty good job of raising Tessa without a maternal figure in their lives, but suddenly he’s feeling a little out of his league. So it’s goodbye New York City and hello suburbs. At first Tessa is horrified by the big-haired, fake-boobed mothers and their sugar-free Red Bull-chugging kids. But little by little she and her dad begin finding a way to survive on the clean streets of the ‘burbs. Sure, the neighbors might smother you with love while their kids stare daggers at your back, but underneath all that plastic and caffeine, they’re really not half bad. And they do make a tasty pot roast.

The series also stars Carly Chaikin, Allie Grant, Alan Tudyk and Cheryl Hines.

Radio Disney to Host ‘Jake and the Never Land Pirates: Summer Adventures’ Events Nationwidd

Disney Junior is celebrating summer with fun, interactive events themed around the hit series “Jake and the Never Land Pirates;” May 2012′s #1 cable TV series among kids 2-5 and #1 cable preschool series in women 18-49. The “Jake and the Never Land Pirates: Summer Adventures” family events will be hosted by Radio Disney at over 25 Simon Malls across 10 markets beginning SATURDAY, JUNE 23 – SUNDAY, JULY 1.

Kids and families are invited to take part in a pirate adventure and collect gold doubloons, the series’ signature treasure, by completing themed activities. Kids will receive “Jake and the Never Land Pirates” bandanas and treasure maps before setting out on a variety of fun, interactive activities including creating treasure chests, Pirate Pal coloring sheets, a ‘Never Land’ photo opportunity and a ‘Look for Hook’ game, where kids will search for Captain Hook decals throughout the mall.

The Radio Disney Road Crew will provide entertainment inviting kids to sing and dance to popular Radio Disney Junior songs from their favorite Disney Junior series including “Jake and the Never Land Pirates,” “Doc McStuffins” and “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.” Additionally, there will be a special viewing area where families can watch episodes of “Jake and the Never Land Pirates” and “Doc McStuffins.” The Radio Disney Road Crew will give away Disney Junior themed prizes at each event.

Disney Channel Live Online Begins Testing for Comcast Subscribers; More Providers to Follow

Select Comcast subscribers are now (or soon) able to watch the Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney Junior networks broadcast live online. The channels will eventually be offered to all Comcast Xfinity customers who subscribe to them at no additional charge, but for now it appears to be in private testing.

The channels will eventually be accessible via WATCHDISNEYCHANNEL.COM, WATCHDISNEYXD.COM and WATCHDISNEYJUNIOR.COM respectively, along with apps for Apple iPhone and iPad devices as well as Android devices. In addition to watching the channels live, eligible viewers will also have the opportunity to watch select shows and movies before they air.

While the site promises that Disney Channel is actively seeking other cable providers to extend the online service to, those who aren’t eligible (which includes non-Disney Channel subscribers) are able to watch full episodes of the channels’ most popular series beginning a few weeks after the show has aired on the premium access channels.

Additionally, the service allows customers to watch the channels anywhere WiFi internet access is available, as long as it’s within the United States or its territories.

VIDEO: Cars Land Features Talking Mater and Lightning Meet and Greets

When Cars Land opens its garage doors to the public on June 15, 2012, a whole new land inspired by the Disney/Pixar films will immerse Guests in an environment unique to the Disney California Adventure theme park. Even the most familiar of faces will have something to talk about as the meet & greet characters of Tow Mater and Lightning McQueen, who have been a staple at the parks for years, will now communicate with guests.

They will trade off at their meet and greet spot, located at the Cozy Cone Hotel, where they will parade down Route 66 of Radiator Springs, chattering away for the first time in a Disney theme park. Voice talents Larry the Cable Guy and Keith Ferguson recorded all new dialogue for the vehicles, who will actively respond to guests based on their appearances. For example, in our video below, Mater comments on the flat ‘tires’ being worn by a passerby. As another example, guests sporting sunglasses may be complimented on their ‘tinted windshield.

Cars Land opens at the Disneyland Resort on June 15, 2012 as part of the park’s expansion which includes Buena Vista Street. A media preview for the event is scheduled on June 14.

‘Frankenweenie’ ‘Art of..’ Exhibition to Tour Globe; Stops Include SDCC, Disneyland

'Frankenweenie' PosterSome exciting news came out late last night (or early this morning depending on where you are) for fans of Tim Burton and his upcoming stop-motion film, Frankenweenie. According to Walt Disney Studios UK, which posted the video below to its YouTube channel, a new traveling art exhibition featuring puppets, props and more from the film will be touring the globe starting later this month.

The video is hosted by Frankenweenie producer Allison Abbate, who gives an introduction to the ‘Art of Frankenweenie’ traveling exhibition as well as a sneak peek at some of the items that will be on display. The sneak peek is then followed by a list of cities and dates as to where one will be able to find the exhibit with state-side stops presumably including San Diego Comic-Con and the Disneyland Resort.

The schedule as presented in the video is as follows:

‘Newsies’ Original Cast Recording on Sale for $5.99

'Newsies' Original Cast RecordingThe MP3 downloadable version of the original cast recording of ‘Newsies’ is now available to own for $5.99 for a limited time on Amazon.com.

The musical, which made its debut on Broadway earlier this year, is nominated for a total of eight Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical (Harvey Fierstein), Best Original Score (Alan Menken, Jack Feldman), Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical (Jeremy Jordan), Best Direction of a Musical (Jeff Calhoun), Best Choreography (Christopher Gattelli), Best Orchestrations (Danny Troob) and Best Scenic Design of a Musical (Tobin Ost and Sven Ortel).

The 2012 Tony Awards will air tonight on CBS live from the Beacon Theatre in New York City at 8 pm ET. Hosted once more by the consummate Neil Patrick Harris, the show will include a performance by the cast of ‘Newsies,’ which is now running open-ended at the Nederlander Theatre.

REPORT: Cars Land and Buena Vista Street Preview; Hundreds of Photos and Video

Just a few days before its grand opening on June 15, 2012, Cars Land and Buena Vista Street at Disney California Adventure at the Disneyland Resort opened its doors for previews for Annual Passholders, Disney D23 and Club 33 Members. Guests — along with Disney Parks brass such as Robert Iger, Tom Staggs, George Kalogridis and Mary Niven — enjoyed dining, shopping and the attractions in both areas: Radiator Springs Racers, Luigi’s Flying Tires, Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree and the Red Car Trolley.

New entertainment also kept guests amused as Mater and Lightning McQueen (who now ‘converse’ with guests) traded off at the Cozy Cone Hotel and Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Pluto and Chip and Dale — all dressed in dapper 1930s garb — greeted guests in the Carthay Circle plaza area. Also making appearances throughout the day were the crowd-favorite Citizens of Buena Vista Street: Donna the Dog Lady, Calvin the Cop, Molly the Messenger and Phiphi the Photographer.

From Oswald’s to the Loz Feloz Five and Dime to Elias and Co., guests time travel along Buena Vista Street as the area ties itself to the other end of the Red Car Trolley line, the Hollywood Tower Hotel (a.k.a. the Tower of Terror) from hints of the hotel’s arrival to posters advertising who’s appearing at the Tip Top Club this week.

Highlights include touring the Fiddler, Fifer and Practical Cafe (Starbucks), Cars Land and Red Car Trolley merchandise, the attractions and their queues (including a clever Rust-eze tribute to the old Burma Shave roadside sign campaigns and a nod to Pixar co-founder Ed Catmull) and much, much more.

Disneyland Now Offering Mobile Theme Park Tickets via Web Enabled Devices

Disneyland Mobile Ticket Purchase via iPadThe Disneyland Resort has now launched a service which allows Guests with web-enabled devices to purchase and receive tickets through them. At this time, however, the resort is allowing only 1 day tickets to be purchased this way (both single and park hopper options available).

In order to purchase a ticket this way, point your mobile browser to DisneylandMobileTickets.com and fill out the secure order form. Once the order has been processed, you will receive your ticket in the form of a bar code on screen as well as by email. Cast members at the turnstiles will then be able to scan in your ticket bar code and allow admission.

According to the site, each transaction may be for up to a total of fifteen tickets and they must be used prior to December 31, 2013.

Please note that to our knowledge the Disneyland Resort has not yet officially announced this service, so until they do, using it is at your own risk.

UPDATE #1: 6/8/12 – This option has now officially been confirmed by the Disney Parks blog.

VIDEO: Marvel Universe Heats Up Club Penguin in June

Club Penguin 'Marvel Super Hero Takeover'It was bound to happen sooner or later: universes will collide when two of Disney’s largest properties, Marvel and Club Penguin join forces later this month. Details appear to be sparse at the moment, but beginning June 14, Club Penguin members will have the ability to suit up as their favorite Marvel superheroes and villains.

In addition, Club Penguin has set up a mini site for the event at ClubPenguin.com/Marvel which shows off many of the Marvel-inspired costumes.
