Cars Toon: Mater's Tall Tales DVD Spanish from DisneyStore.com

If you’re a faithful reader of the official Disney Parks Blog, you may have caught word of ‘Time Travel Mater,’ a brand new ‘Mater’s Tall Tales’ in the Cars Toons shorts series. If word of the new show is a surprise to you, you’re in great company. It turns out it was a surprise to even many of the most diehard fans.

In the short, which has some very core homages to the Back to the Future film trilogy (in fact, according to the Pixar Wikia – note: contains spoilers, it borrows from an unmade short titled ‘Backwards to the Forwards’), Mater learns he must rewrite history back in 1927 in order to ensure that Radiator Springs is founded by Stanley, who is alive and well. But when Mater brings back Lightning McQueen to assist him, he may have ended up with more than he bargained for.

The Disney Parks blog shared the following clip from the short:

Now here’s where it gets tricky. According to the blog, it will ‘premiere’ at Blue Sky Cellar at Disney California Adventure on June 15 and then re-air on ABC on June 16. We here aren’t crazy about waiting that long and we suspect you aren’t either, so taking a cue from Mater, we did some time traveling and history revising of our own.

If our calculations are correct, ‘Time Travel Mater’ will have already debuted on Disney Channel earlier this week in the wee hours of the morn. But you probably missed it and we don’t have enough plutonium to re-revise it. Instead, it will re-air on Disney Channel on Thursday night/Friday morning at 2:25 am ET, followed by Saturday morning at 10:55 am ET and Saturday night/Sunday morning at 3:25 am, Sunday morning at 10:55 am, Sunday night/Monday morning at 3:25 am and Monday night/Tuesday morning at 2:00 am. You get the picture. And if our calculations aren’t correct, we’ll just go back in time again and edit this post so it is.

One last tip: if you’re going to record the show on DVR, make sure to modify the settings so it begins recording at least a few minutes before and continues to at least a few minutes after. Some folks have complained of the first airing getting cut off.

Enjoy the show.

UPDATE #1: 6/8/12 – While it lasts, someone uploaded a very poor quality rip from Disney Channel to YouTube which you can watch below

UPDATE #2: 6/8/12 – Having written this article prior to seeing the short, I erroneously stated it took place in 1927. A reader anonymously provided very specific information but as I feel it may be somewhat of a spoiler, I will just leave it at omitting the year originally specified.

‘Wreck-It Ralph’ Seven Super Hi-Res Stills Feature Brand New Characters, Arcade Classics

(Pictured) RALPH (voice of John C. Reilly) amongst other video game bad guys. ©2012 Disney. All Rights Reserved.

Technically, we have just three new stills from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Wreck-It Ralph, but to avoid confusion with yesterday’s stills, we have lumped them all together for your digital enjoyment. The new stills feature scenes from the teaser trailer released today, including the Bad-Anon segment featuring cameos by Bowser, Doctor Eggman, Zangief, M. Bison, Pac-Man’s Clyde and others; Ralph engaged in activity during his visit to ‘Hero’s Duty;’ and a look at the home of Venellope von Schweetz, the go-kart racer title ‘Sugar Rush,’ in which we meet fellow racers Jubileena Bing-Bing, Swizzle ‘The Swizz’ Malarkey and Taffyta Muttonfudge.

All of the stills are in super hi-res. If you’ve seen them extra large somewhere, they probably originated here. Click on any of the thumbnails to see the larger versions, then click on the resize icon to view them at full 10MP resolution.

Walt Disney Animation Studios and Emmy®-winning director Rich Moore take moviegoers on a hilarious, arcade-game-hopping journey in Wreck-It Ralph. Ralph is tired of being overshadowed by Fix-It Felix (voice of Jack McBrayer), the ‘good guy’ star of their game who always gets to save the day. But after decades doing the same thing and seeing all the glory go to Felix, Ralph decides he’s tired of playing the role of a bad guy. He takes matters into his own massive hands and sets off on a game-hopping journey across the arcade through every generation of video
games to prove he’s got what it takes to be a hero.

Wreck-It Ralph smashes into theaters on November 2, 2012.

WATCH: ‘Wreck-It Ralph’ Freakishly Awesome Teaser Trailer

(L-R) RALPH (voice of John C. Reilly) and VANELLOPE VON SCHWEETZ (voice of Sarah Silverman) in the video game world of Sugar Rush. ©2012 Disney. All Rights Reserved.

Although it actually previewed in theaters on Memorial Day weekend alongside the return of Disney/Pixar favorites, the long awaited teaser trailer for Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Wreck-It Ralph is now officially released online (after a brief exclusive on Xbox) and will be returning to movie theaters on Friday.

With support from Flo Rida’s ‘Good Feeling’ and the classic ‘Once in a Lifetime’ by Talking Heads, the trailer takes a glimpse at the life of Wreck-It Ralph (voiced by John C. Reilly), the villain of the popular video game ‘Fix-It Felix.’ When not working inside the game, destroying things, Ralph begins to realize he no longer wants to be the villain, voicing his concerns at the Bad-Anon support group which features cameos by Bowser, Zangief and Pac-Man’s Clyde, who takes the news in a way that only he can.

We’re also introduced to other characters such as the video game’s hero, Fix-It Felix (voiced by Jack McBrayer) who’s bi-lingual, speaking the exotic Q-Bertese; Sergeant Calhoun (voiced by Jane Lynch); and Vanellope von Schweetz (voiced by Sarah Silverman) who proves to be more than a handful (albeit a freakishly big one).

The trailer comes just a day after we got our first look from the film, which you can see in our hi-res gallery shared below. You can click on any of the thumbnails to see the larger version and then click on the resize arrow to see the images at their original 10MP size.

On ‘Bachelorette,’ Emily Confronts Bachelor for Remarks in London (Minor Spoilers)

Explosive drama underlines the group’s trip to historic London. From Buckingham Palace to the Tower of London, Emily and Sean share the romance of the city. Shakespearian theatre will never be the same once eight men on a group date invade the Bard’s birthplace, Stratford-upon-Avon, to perform classic scenes from “Romeo and Juliet.” However, the after party turns from going to a pub for a brew to a brawl when Emily discovers that one of the men has made a disrespectful comment about her daughter, Ricki. Not only does Emily confront the offender, but she finds none of the other men support her and ends up making some stunning decisions. Jef and Emily have a proper English tea, but decide to ditch their stern etiquette teacher and escape to a local pub. Trying to put the drama about her daughter aside, she takes Jef to one of the most romantic spots in the city – the London Eye, a gigantic Ferris wheel on the banks of the Thames River. But Emily makes it her personal mission at the cocktail party to find out which guys knew about the offensive comment and why they didn’t warn her earlier about the insulting bachelor. Do any of these men have her back? She needs to find out and fast, as the group travels to Croatia next, on “The Bachelorette,” Monday, June 11 at 8:00 pm ET/PT on the ABC Television Network.

For her first one-on-one date of the week, Emily and Sean jump onto one of the iconic double-decker buses to tour the city. They share a romantic kiss at Buckingham Palace where Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, exchanged their public kisses as man and wife. Later that night, the couple share a private dinner locked inside the Tower of London. Emily seems smitten with her date, but will Sean be able to unlock her heart and get the rose?

The next morning eight lucky bachelors meet Emily at Stratford-upon-Avon on a group date. Some of men embrace the opportunity to become thespians for the day, acting in scenes from Shakepeare’s famous “Romeo and Juliet.” Emily hopes they all have a blast, since part of being a parent is learning to go with the flow. A confident Ryan relishes playing Romeo and having the opportunity to kiss Emily for the first time. Arie is terrified when he discovers he must dress like a woman to portray the nurse. Kalon is so fixated on his performance, he shoos Emily away so he can get more rehearsal time. The live audience that gathers gets a lot of laughs as the men perform their scenes with Emily playing Juliet, but Ryan’s kiss as Romeo rocks the rest of the guys to their core.

That night, when the group go to a local pub to celebrate their “reviews,” a fun time turns into a debacle. A brave bachelor tells Emily about an insulting remark one man made about her daughter and it becomes public knowledge. She confronts the thoughtless guy. Disheartened that any of her suitors would say such a horrible thing and discouraged that none of the other men stand by her in the confrontation, Emily makes some startling decisions.

Attempting to put the situation behind her, Emily tries to teach Jef the proper English way to have afternoon tea, but when the etiquette class becomes too much, they run to a local pub and then to the London Eye – one of the city’s iconic landmarks and symbol of modern Britain. Will Jef finally make his move and kiss Emily, or will he fail to seize the moment?

At the dramatic cocktail party, Emily is totally focused on grilling the men. Who knew about the disrespectful comment and why did no one alert her earlier about the boorish bachelor who made it? Arie, in particular, is put on the hot seat. Where is the man she can look to as a husband and a stepfather to her daughter? She is beginning to wonder if any of these guys can fill the bill. After the rose ceremony, eight men remain to travel onto one of Europe’s most beautiful countries: Croatia.

The 10 remaining men are:
Alejandro, 24, a mushroom farmer from San Francisco, CA
Arie, 30, a race car driver from Scottsdale, AZ
Chris, 25, a corporate sales director from Chicago, IL
Doug, 33, a charity director/realtor from Seattle, WA
Jef, 27, an entrepreneur from Salt Lake City, UT
John “Wolf,” 30, a data destruction specialist from St. Louis, MO
Kalon, 27, a luxury brand consultant from Houston, TX
Ryan, 31, a pro sports trainer from Augusta, GA
Sean, 28, an insurance agent from Dallas, TX
Travis, 30, an advertising sales representative from Madison, MS

Disney Enacts Food Advertising Restictions on Television; Announces ‘Mickey Check’ Tool

Mickey CheckBuilding on its landmark nutrition guidelines established in 2006, The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) today became the first major media company to introduce new standards for food advertising on programming targeting kids and families. This significant undertaking marks the latest step in Disney’s partnership with parents to inspire kids to lead healthier lifestyles. Under Disney’s new standards, all food and beverage products advertised, sponsored, or promoted on Disney Channel, Disney XD, Disney Junior, Radio Disney, and Disney-owned online destinations oriented to families with younger children will be required by 2015 to meet Disney’s nutrition guidelines. The nutrition guidelines are aligned to federal standards, promote fruit and vegetable consumption and call for limiting calories and reducing saturated fat, sodium, and sugar.

“We’re proud of the impact we’ve had over the last six years,” said Robert A. Iger, Chairman and CEO, The Walt Disney Company. “We’ve taken steps across our company to support better choices for families, and now we’re taking the next important step forward by setting new food advertising standards for kids. The emotional connection kids have to our characters and stories gives us a unique opportunity to continue to inspire and encourage them to lead healthier lives.”

Since 2006 when Disney became the first major media company to establish nutrition guidelines, the company has successfully combined its unique storytelling, beloved characters, and unparalleled reach to make healthier lifestyles for families more appealing and more fun. Disney’s unmatched efforts have received critical acclaim and recognition from moms, nutrition experts, and federal regulators.

“This new initiative is truly a game changer for the health of our children,” said First Lady Michelle Obama. “This is a major American company – a global brand – that is literally changing the way it does business so that our kids can lead healthier lives. With this new initiative, Disney is doing what no major media company has ever done before in the U.S. – and what I hope every company will do going forward. When it comes to the ads they show and the food they sell, they are asking themselves one simple question: “Is this good for our kids?”‘

“Mickey Check” Tool
In addition to its new advertising standards, Disney today introduced the “Mickey Check” tool, an icon that calls out nutritious food and menu items sold in stores, online, and at restaurants and food venues at its U.S. Parks and Resorts. By the end of 2012 the “Mickey Check” will appear on licensed foods products, on qualified recipes on Disney.com and Family.com, and on menus and select products at Disney’s Parks and Resorts.

Disney Magic of Healthy Living on Vacation
In 2006, Disney pioneered new, well-balanced kids’ meals served at its Parks and Resorts, which automatically include nutritious sides and beverages such as carrots and low-fat milk, unless parents opt out. Of the more than 12 million kids’ meals served last year at Disney Parks and Resorts in the U.S., parents stuck with the healthier options 6 out of 10 times. Now, Disney will enhance its breakthrough efforts by further reducing sodium in kids’ meals and introducing new well-balanced kids’ breakfast meals.

Disney Magic of Healthy Living at Retail
Since 2006, Disney Consumer Products (DCP) has sold more than two billion servings of Disney licensed fruits and vegetables in North America, and has transformed its food offerings resulting in 85 percent of all U.S. licensed products meeting the company’s nutrition guidelines and only 15 percent reserved for special occasion treats. Additionally, Disney will further reduce sugar and sodium in all licensed foods.

Disney Magic of Healthy Living On-Air
Disney’s iconic characters, creativity, and family entertainment platforms offer a unique position from which Disney can help make nutritious eating and physical activity fun and rewarding. Disney Magic of Healthy Living includes online resources for families, live events, as well as informative short-form programming. The on-air spots, which today reach almost 100 million households in the U.S. on Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney Junior, inspire and encourage kids and families to live healthier lifestyles through better eating habits and fun activities.

Disney’s 2006 nutrition policy stipulated that promotions aimed at children 12 years old and under – most notably for films — would meet specific guidelines. Since then, Disney kid-targeted film promotional campaigns feature only healthier food and beverage products.

“Making healthy eating and physical activity fun is central to creating healthier generations to come,” said Dr. James O. Hill, who worked with Disney to develop its nutrition guidelines, and is executive director of the Anschutz Health & Wellness Center at the University of Colorado. “Disney is using ‘magic’ – fun and creativity – to encourage kids and families to make positive changes, and it is working.”

CONFIRMED: ‘Where’s My Perry?’ Coming to Apple, Android Devices in June

'Where's My Perry?' from Disney Interactive StudiosAt E3, Disney Interactive Studios has confirmed a Stitch Kingdom report from earlier this month that it would be releasing a spin-off of its popular ‘Where’s My Water?’ mobile game, featuring Perry the Platypus /aka/ Agent P from Disney XD’s ‘Phineas and Ferb.’

In ‘Where’s My Perry?,’ Perry is summoned into action by his boss, Major Monogram, but he gets trapped in the complicated network of tubes that typically lead him to the briefing room instead.

Using mechanics from the game that inspired it, the water streams are influenced by Dr. Doofenshmirtz and his ‘crazy-nators’ that can turn water into steam and ice on command.

‘Where’s My Perry?’ is expected to be available on the App Store for Apple iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad devices and Google Play for Android devices late this month.
