Burbank, CA (October 14, 2009) – Christmas chaos ensues for the Bannister family when they adopt a misguided guard dog, Zeus, to try and keep their home safe from neighborhood prowlers in the new ABC Family holiday movie, “The Dog Who Saved Christmas,” premiering on Sunday, November 29th (8:00-10:00Pm ET/PT). The two-hour film, premiering as part of the network’s annual “Countdown to 25 Days of Christmas” programming event, stars Dean Cain, Gary Valentine, Elisa Donovan, Joey Diaz, Mindy Sterling, Adrienne Barbeau and Mario Lopez as the voice of Zeus.
All-new episodes of Disney•Pixar’s “Cars Toons,” an animated short series directed by Academy Award©-winner John Lasseter with Rob Gibbs co-directing and starring Lightning McQueen’s rusty friend Mater, will debut beginning FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 20 on Disney Channel, Disney XD and ABC Family. They are titled “Unidentified Flying Mater,” “Monster Truck Mater,” “Heavy Metal Mater” and “Tokyo Mater.”
Mark Mothersbaugh (“Devo”) composed the music for three episodes and BT (“The Fast and the Furious”), a prominent composer of dance and electronic music, scored “Tokyo Mater.”
The four new stories follow the popular shorts that began debuting in October 2008 and which have reached 22.9 million Kids 2-11, or 56% of all kids in that age group in the U.S., and 67.5 million total unique viewers.
“Cars Toons” are directed by John Lasseter, (“Cars,” “Toy Story 2,” “A Bug’s Life” and “Toy Story”) and co-directed by Rob Gibbs (“Cars,” “Finding Nemo,” “Monsters, Inc” and “Toy Story 2”). Kori Rae (“The Incredibles” and “Monsters Inc.”) is the producer. Victor Navone (“Cars,” “The Incredibles,” “Finding Nemo” and “Monsters, Inc.”) co-directed the episode “Tokyo Mater.”
In “Unidentified Flying Mater,” premiering Friday, November 20 on Disney Channel, Mater meets a cute little bucktoothed UFO named Mator, takes him out for a night of fun and they quickly become best friends. But when Mator is captured by the military, Mater and Lightning McQueen come to the rescue.
Burbank, CA – Francia Raisa (“The Secret Life of the American Teenager”) and Brendan Fehr (“Samurai Girl,” “Roswell”) have signed to star in the ABC Family and MGM Television original production “The Cutting Edge: Fire & Ice.” The two-hour original movie will begin principal photography this month in Montreal, Canada, and is set to premiere on ABC Family in spring 2010. “The Cutting Edge: Fire & Ice” marks the fourth installment of the successful franchise produced by MGM Television.
ABC Family will present the television premiere of the third installment of the “Legally Blonde” franchise, “Legally Blondes,” on Sunday, August 2 (8:00PM – 10:00PM ET/PT). In this newest chapter of the popular franchise, Reese Witherspoon, as producer, passes the blonde-baton to British twin sisters Becky and Milly Rosso, who expertly carry on the “Legally Blonde” legacy as Elle’s cousins, Izzy and Annie Woods. The Rosso twins are most recognizable as Disney Channel stars from “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.” Leading into the premiere of “Legally Blondes” will be the first two installments with “Legally Blonde” airing at 4:00PM ET/PT, and “Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde” airing at 6:00PM ET/PT.
Burbank, CA (April 9, 2009) – ABC Family has acquired a slate of theatricals including several network television premieres as part of an agreement with Disney-ABC Domestic Television. The network will air the network television premieres of the Walt Disney Pictures 3-D films “G-Force,” from producer Jerry Bruckheimer, in theaters this summer, and “A Christmas Carol,” starring Jim Carrey, to be released in theaters this November. The package also includes the network television premiere of “Beverly Hills Chihuahua,” and second position windows for the studio’s two recent films, “Race to Witch Mountain” and “Bedtime Stories.”
“Beverly Hills Chihuahua” is tentatively scheduled to make its network television premiere on ABC Family in 2010, “G-Force” in 2011 and “A Christmas Carol” in 2012. “Bedtime Stories” and “Race to Witch Mountain” will both tentatively mark their runs on the network in 2012.
