Earlier today, July 14, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” traveled to Fayetteville, North Carolina to surprise a family with the door knock that can change lives. The paratrooper team from the U.S. Army and service men joined “EM: HE” host Ty Pennington and the gang to surprise the Marshall family at The Steps-N-Stages Jubilee House. Barbara Marshall, a 15-year Navy Veteran, is fighting to end homelessness among her fellow female veterans. Barbara became passionately committed to her cause when she noticed that so many of our troops were living on the streets after risking their lives to protect their fellow Americans. Instead of just complaining about the situation, this formidable, no-nonsense woman decided to take action and established The Steps-N-Stages Jubilee House, using her own money.
Following an emotional update from last season’s ‘The Bachelor’ winner Emily Maynard who discussed the break-up with second-chancer Brad Womack, host Chris Harrison sat down with former ‘The Bachelorette’ Ali Fedotowsky and Roberto Martinez to catch up with the couple and get an update on their relationship.
The video interview, just released by ABC, shows the couple still happily together as they discuss their thoughts on the Ashley Hebert’s season and Bentley, with Ali drawing parallels between Ashley’s experiences and her own, although hers yielding very different results. The couple also talks about the pressures felt by the public and rumor mongering, following the Maynard-Womack update, with Ali citing an example of not being married by when it was expected to occur and the assumptions made by the public when its expectations aren’t met.
ABC and Global have jointly announced the renewal of the summer’s popular drama series, “Rookie Blue,” for a third season. Season Three is currently in development and will move into production in Toronto later this summer.
For ABC, the series ranks No. 1 in Thursday’s 10 o’clock hour in Adults 18-49 this summer, finishing No. 1 in its time slot on each of its three original telecasts. Moving to the 10 o’clock hour in its sophomore season, “Rookie Blue” is producing year-to-year gains for ABC, improving by 8% in Total Viewers and by 14% in Adults 18-49 from the Net’s Summer ’10 averages in the hour. In fact, with viewers and young adults, “Rookie Blue’s” sophomore season premiere (on June 23) posted ABC’s best summer numbers in the hour with regular programming since August 2008 (August 7).
The stakes are high as Ashley returns from her exciting tour of the Far East for an emotionally charged journey across the country to visit Constantine, Ames, Ben F. and J.P. in their hometowns. Her bonds are growing stronger with these men, but she is severely tested by some of the families. How ready are these bachelors for marriage? Ashley is about to find out from the people who know them best, as she moves closer to making her own fairytale come true. However, in a heartbreaking turn, she must send one man home, on “The Bachelorette,” Monday, July 18 (8:00 pm – 10:01 pm ET/PT) on the ABC Television Network.
Yesterday, July 10, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” traveled to Madison, Georgia, to surprise the Rucker family with the door knock that can change lives. Anaiah Rucker is a smart, fun, athletic, sweet, straight-A student with the dream of attending Harvard and becoming a doctor or lawyer, though she will be a fifth grader this fall. That dream was threatened on February 4, 2011 when Anaiah, then just 9 years old, saved her 5-year-old sister, Camry, by pushing her out of the path of an oncoming truck. Anaiah was struck herself, leaving her with massive, life-threatening injuries. Undaunted by these injuries, she has endured the amputation of her left leg and grueling rehab to get her body back in shape so she can continue playing sports, singing in the chorus, and working hard at her studies. Happy to have her best friend and sister Camry safe and sound, Anaiah and her family are focused on her getting well and making her stronger than ever, which is a challenge because she is currently wheelchair bound.
ABC showcases its upcoming primetime lineup with an exciting peek at its new shows and an interactive booth at Comic Con 2011, taking place in San Diego in late July. “Once Upon a Time,” “Charlie’s Angels,” “Castle” and “The River” stars and executive producers will participate in the convention for Q&A panels, press room interviews and special autograph sessions. Additionally, the much buzzed about new drama series, “Pan Am,” will also be represented at Comic-Con. Below are the details:
Barbara Walters will sit down with Casey Anthony’s lead lawyer Jose Baez in his first network interview since the jury acquitted his client of murder, manslaughter and child endangerment charges yesterday in Orlando, Florida. In a wide-ranging interview, Walters will ask Baez about his courtroom strategy, his client’s demeanor, the reasons he thinks she was found not guilty, how he was ceaselessly second-guessed by trial watchers and the media during the six weeks of testimony, and his newfound fame, among other topics.
ABC will broadcast its final episode of the Daytime Emmy Award-winning drama series, “All My Children,” on Friday, September 23, 2011. The iconic series will end in a manner that respects the show’s legacy and honors its history.
Out of love and respect for the show, many beloved actors will be returning to Pine Valley, including Josh Duhamel (Leo Du Pres), Eva La Rue (Maria Santos), Thorsten Kaye (Zach Slater), Carol Burnett (Verla Grubbs), Kate Collins (Janet Green), Jennifer Bassey (Marion Chandler), Melissa Claire Egan (Annie Chandler) and Leven Rambin (Lily Montgomery), among others yet to be announced. Final episodes will celebrate the stories of the families that fans have grown to know and love over the years.
The pressure mounts as Ashley must decide which four men will have the opportunity to take her home to meet their families. Taiwan, the “hidden jewel of Asia,” is the romantic city where Ashley will make her most important decision yet. She still has serious questions about some of the men, but must be ready to let two of them go forever. Will she make the right choice? And in a revealing, emotional tell-all update, Emily Maynard, the single mom who captured Brad Womack’s heart, will finally speak out about the state of her relationship with Brad, on “The Bachelorette,” Monday, July 11 at 8:00 pm on ABC.
