ABC announced its summer lineup, with four new series joining the schedule: ‘500 Questions’ on Wednesday, May 20 at 8:00 pm; ‘The Whispers’ on Monday, June 1 at 10:01 pm and ‘Celebrity Family Feud’ on Sunday, June 21 at 8:00 pm, followed by ‘BattleBots’ on Sunday, June 21 at 9:00 pm on the ABC Television Network.
In a move that should bode well for the series currently in development, ABC and ABC Studios have applied for a trademark for ‘The Real O’Neals,’ a half-hour single-camera comedy that’s being executive produced by activist Dan Savage, creator of the ‘It Gets Better’ project. The series was formerly known under the working title of ‘Family of the Year.’ The official description for the series pilot is as follows:
Earlier this evening on Twitter, we shared that ABC plans on videotaping an episode of ‘America’s Funniest Home Videos’ at the Disneyland theme park on April 18, 2015, with a planned audience of 400 (though according to the permit itself, it’s actually 399). Shortly thereafter, host Tom Bergeron responded back to us noting that it will be his last time hosting the show and that ‘those will be a very special 400 to me!’
ABC today announced the premiere date today for the new half-hour reality series ‘Repeat After Me,’ hosted by Wendi McLendon-Covey of ABC’s ‘The Goldbergs,’ and inspired by a highly successful signature segment from the Emmy-winning daytime talk program ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show.’ ‘Repeat After Me’ will premiere on Tuesday, February 17 at 8:30 pm ET/PT on the ABC Television Network.
In ‘Repeat After Me,’ McLendon-Covey will instruct her celebrity friends, via a remote ear piece, to interact with everyday people in high-energy, comedic hidden-camera situations. At the end of each half-hour episode, the best moment of the night will be crowned in front of a live studio audience. The pilot episode stars Ellen Pompeo, Taye Diggs and Harry Connick, Jr.
Although ABC’s ‘Once Upon A Time,’ has already enjoyed a previous book release, Reawakened, which is essentially a retelling of the popular fairy tale series’ first season, it’s Ruby/Red who will receive the spotlight for the new original novel inspired by the series. Once Upon A Time: Red’s Untold Tale will provide some backstory to the character based on the traditional Little Red Riding Hood. The official publisher’s description is as follows:
Once upon a time, the dashing hero, Galavant (Joshua Sasse), lost the love of his life, Madalena (Mallory Jansen), to the evil King Richard (Timothy Omundson). Now, our fallen hero is ready to take revenge and restore his ‘happily ever after.’ But it won’t be without a few twists and turns along the way. ‘Galavant’ will premiere on Sunday, January 4 at 8:00 pm ET/PT with two 30 minute episodes, back-to-back on the ABC Television Network. The eight episode series will run through Sunday nights in January.
As part of its expansion in the unscripted arena, ABC Family announced today that it has picked up a new docu-series, ‘My Transparent Life,’ direct to series from Ryan Seacrest Productions.
The groundbreaking new reality series ‘My Transparent Life’ centers on a teenager named Ben who learns his parents are not only getting a divorce but also that his dad is becoming a woman. The series will follow Ben, his family and his friends as they support one another through this unexpected journey and watch Charlie slowly become Carly, as she experiences the many stages of her transition from male to female. The show is a generational story of a loving family and circle of friends supporting one another through this unfamiliar and unexpected situation.
