What happens to a family when a child’s birth becomes a medical mystery? Barbara Walters reports on Kaylee Halko and Lindsay Ratcliffe, two vibrant young girls who suffer from a rapid aging disease called progeria, a fatal condition that currently affects 68 known children in the world. The disease causes children to age at 10 times the normal rate. It’s extremely rare – occurring in only one in four to eight million births – and always fatal. On average, children die at the age of 13.

ABC’s ‘The View’ Celebrates 3000th Show with Special Commemorative Cupcake from Crumbs

On August 11, 1997, television viewers were introduced to a new and diverse menu of talk, entertainment and lifestyle programming each weekday, as ABC Daytime launched “The View.” The show, originally billed as “ABC Daytime’s lively and informative new talk show,” has flourished into one of the most popular and most talked-about programs, and celebrates its “3000th Show,” live, THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 23 (11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon, ET).

Celebrities to Join Historic ‘Stand Up to Cancer’ Multi-Network Event on September 10

An extraordinary lineup of actors, musicians, athletes and journalists have banded together for “Stand Up To Cancer” (SU2C), the groundbreaking initiative aimed at raising funds to accelerate innovative cancer research bringing new therapies to patients quickly that will saves lives now. “Stand Up To Cancer” (www.standup2cancer.org) will return to primetime TV on SEPTEMBER 10 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET). The one-hour fundraising event will be simulcast live and commercial-free on ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, Bio, Discovery Health, E!, G4, HBO, HBO Latino, MLB Network, mun2, Showtime, Smithsonian Channel, The Style Network, TV One and VH1.

Executive-produced by Laura Ziskin, the special will be hosted by Katie Couric, Diane Sawyer and Brian Williams (the anchors, respectively, of the CBS, ABC and NBC evening news programs), and will feature numerous celebrity cancer survivors who exemplify that cancer can affect even the smartest, strongest and toughest people in our lives. Those expected to participate include Christina Applegate, Lance Armstrong, Fran Drescher, Elizabeth Edwards, Delta Goodrem, Michael C. Hall, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Sharon Osbourne, Robin Roberts, Maura Tierney, Sofia Vergara, Marissa Jaret Winokur and Ethan Zohn. The broadcast will be dedicated to the 12 million U.S. cancer survivors and illustrate how groundbreaking research can change the tide in the fight against the disease. Updates will be provided on the work of the five “Stand Up To Cancer” Dream Teams, and Dr. Sanjay Gupta, CNN’s Chief Medical Correspondent, will report on other new medical developments. One of the musical performances will be an all-star collaboration led by Stevie Wonder with Natasha Bedingfield, Queen Latifah, Martina McBride, Aaron Neville and Dave Stewart.

After three years of living alone on the island, Claire kept a substitute baby fashioned of animal parts with buttons for eyes.  When Kate questioned Claire about what it was, Claire told her it was ‘all I had.’

New Celebrity Cast for ‘Dancing with the Stars’ to be Revealed via Live Press Conference August 30

For the first time in “Dancing with the Stars” history, the new celebrity cast will be revealed at a LIVE press conference. “Dancing with the Stars” co-hosts Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke will reveal the cast during an episode of “Bachelor Pad,” MONDAY, AUGUST 30 (8:00-10:00 p.m., ET), on ABC.

Immediately following each cast member’s live primetime unveiling, ABC.com will post the updated list online. ABC.com will also post the press conference, in its entirety, the following day. The Fall 2010 season of “Dancing with the Stars” premieres MONDAY, SEPT. 20 (8:00-10:00 p.m., ET).

ABC’s Wipeout Renewed for Fourth Season; New Courses and New Motivator to Debut

“Wipeout,” ABC’s outrageously popular reality series, has been picked up for a fourth season. Twenty-four daring contestants of all shapes and sizes will compete in the world’s largest extreme obstacle course designed to provide the best face plants, biggest splashes and wondrous wipeouts ever seen on television. Wipeout is hosted by John Anderson (ESPN’s “SportsCenter,”), John Henson (E! Entertainment’s “Talk Soup”) and co-hosted by Jill Wagner.

“I’m excited that a fourth season will give our team the opportunity to create bigger and funnier ways to wipeout contestants and thrill families across America,” said creator and Executive Producer Matt Kunitz.

‘Dancing with the Stars’ Teams with ‘Extreme Makeover Home Edition’ for Wisconsin Family

The “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” design team discovered there was a whole lot of shaking going on in Neenah, Wisconsin when they met Rhex Arboleda. Rhex is a hometown hero who has distinguished himself by locally leading the movement to banish the childhood obesity epidemic. In 2004 he created “Move to the Groove,” a dance program designed to get both teachers and students on their feet and in shape. Rhex’s award-winning dance program is currently being used in three elementary schools where health and wellness is a priority. Ironically Rhex’s own health and wellness, and that of his family, is compromised by the state of the 70-year-old home they live in.

ABC Extends Agreement to Air ‘Peanuts’ Holiday Specials for Additional Five Years

ABC today announced that it has extended its relationship with popular “PEANUTS” animated specials by Charles M. Schulz in a deal signed with Peanuts Worldwide LLC and Lee Mendelson Film Productions. The beloved Emmy Award-winning specials, including the iconic “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” and “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” created by Charles M. Schulz and produced and animated by Lee Mendelson and Bill Melendez, began airing on ABC in December 2001.

This fall the famed “PEANUTS” comic strip will celebrate its 60th anniversary. The first and most well known of the beloved animated holiday specials, “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” first aired on television in 1965, making this year the 45th anniversary.
