Adventures By Disney Introduces Exciting Lineup of Value Itineraries with Exclusive Access and More Free Time
Adventures by Disney, named the World’s Leading Luxury Tour Operator by the 2009 World Travel Awards, adds a new line of itineraries to its award-winning list of family vacations for summer 2010. Known as the Gateway Collection, these itineraries provide guests with more time on their own to explore the destinations and sites at their leisure. In conjunction with the added time, travelers receive the benefits of Adventures by Disney’s highly-trained Adventure Guides who are the concierges for each trip and are always available to provide recommendations and schedule reservations so guests receive the most during their vacation. Additionally, the Gateway Collection features comfortable lodging and is priced as a value option for its select destinations, which makes traveling the world even more affordable.
Departing in summer 2010, these itineraries feature, “Gateway to London and Paris,” “Gateway to Italy” and “Gateway to Costa Rica” with dates in June, July, August and September. Guests may visit www.AdventuresbyDisney.com to learn more about the Gateway Collection vacations.
“We are constantly working to create new products that further accommodate guests’ vacation preferences and lifestyles and provide a range of itineraries to choose from, such as our high-end Signature Collection itineraries and most recently, our Adventures by Disney/Disney Cruise Line Mediterranean experience,” said Karl Holz, President of Disney Cruise Line & New Vacation Operations. “Our new Gateway Collection is ideal for guests looking for a vacation that balances just the right amount of leisure time and freedom to explore destinations on their own with the benefits of Adventures by Disney’s guided tours and VIP hassle-free travel.”
Gateway to Adventure
Designed from Adventures by Disney’s current model, the Gateway Collection includes guided group vacations similar to the classic and signature itineraries at a lower cost while also featuring more free time. Guests will enjoy activities available as part of the itinerary, such as climbing the bell tower of Notre Dame in Paris and also have the flexibility to spend the afternoon exploring more of what interests them in the iconic destination at their leisure. Travelers are able to enjoy more options at a value price.
All Gateway Collection itineraries feature Adventures by Disney‘s special touches called the “Disney Difference” and some VIP access into popular tourist attractions. On “Gateway to Costa Rica” guests are treated to a new destination that is not available on the classic itinerary. Families will become immersed in their surroundings when they embark on a jungle cruise through Tortuguero National Park with a naturalist, exploring the many canals and rich wildlife of the Mangrove.
For families interested in exploring Italy’s ancient wonders, but hesitant because of a lengthy time commitment, “Gateway to Italy” offers a slightly shorter itinerary that provides travelers with a comprehensive overview of the culture and history of the destination.
The Gateway Collection includes the following 2010 destinations and dates:
- “Gateway to London and Paris,” June 25, July 5, July 16 and August 2
- “Gateway to Italy,” June 24, July 15 and August 8
- “Gateway to Costa Rica,” June 27, July 16, August 7 and an adult-only departure September 4

Adventures by Disney Named ‘World’s Leading Luxury Tour Operator’ and Winner of Two Travel Weekly Magellan Awards
BURBANK, Calif., Nov. 10 — Adventures by Disney (AdventuresbyDisney.com), provider of high-end family travel experiences, was named World’s Leading Luxury Tour Operator and North America’s Best Luxury Tour Operator by the 2009 World Travel Awards. Adventures by Disney was also presented two Travel Weekly Magellan Awards for its consumer Web site and consumer collateral in fall 2009.
Hailed as the “Travel Industry’s equivalent to the Oscar’s”, the World Travel Awards acknowledges and celebrates excellence in the world’s travel and tourism industry and has become one of the highest accolades a travel product can receive. Highly-recognized as the premier award for the travel industry, the Magellan Award honors the best in travel and distinguishes those representing a high standard of excellence within the travel industry.
“It is an honor for Adventures by Disney to be named winner by two separate industry leaders in 2009,” said Don Gross, vice president, Adventures by Disney. “We have a team dedicated to providing the best in family travel to many of the world’s most exciting destinations. From the first Web site visit where parents experience interactive planning online, to the hassle-free itineraries that allow families to spend more time together, every vacation detail is covered. We are extremely proud to receive top honors in various industry awards and to take home winnings in multiple categories.”
In 2009, the 16th Annual World Travel Awards received the highest voters poll, with more than 180,000 industry professionals casting their votes for what they consider the very best travel, tourism and hospitality products and services in the world – ultimately naming Adventures by Disney the World’s Leading Luxury Tour Operator and North America’s Best Luxury Tour Operator.
Travel Weekly’s 2009 Magellan Awards received entries from across the U.S. and around the world that were judged and overseen by a panel of top travel professionals representing the best names and most accomplished leaders in the industry. Entries are judged against a standard of excellence rather than against each other – in fact, some categories may not have any winners at all. Adventures by Disney was named Gold Winner for Marketing, Consumer Website and Silver Winner for Marketing, Consumer Collateral.

WASHINGTON, Oct. 19 — One of the most adventurous characters in children’s literature, Flat Stanley, traveled to the prestigious Library of Congress today where he, along with the first three books in Flat Stanley’s Worldwide Adventures series, were inducted into the Library to help Adventures by Disney and HarperCollins Children’s Books celebrate an exciting new project called “The Search for Flat Stanley’s Next BIG Adventure.”
Due to his peculiar ability to be mailed to different locations, Stanley is the most well-traveled character in children’s literature, traveling around the world thousands of times annually in an educational project that has become a classic of the American classroom. Now budding writers and artists are invited to create their own Flat Stanley story in “The Search for Flat Stanley’s Next BIG Adventure.” In this nationwide contest, children ages 7 to 12 can win an Adventures by Disney vacation by creating a specially themed Flat Stanley and a 150-word story about his “Next BIG Adventure.”
Entries will be judged in three age groups – one for 7 to 8-year-olds, one for 9 to 10-year-olds and one for 11 to 12-year-olds. One winner will be chosen in each age group and each of the three winners can choose one of Adventures by Disney’s 19 worldwide vacations for their prize.
Parents, kids and educators can check out www.FlatStanleyBooks.com/AdventuresbyDisney for Official Rules and complete information on the Contest; fun, interactive games; and fascinating informational resources. The Contest runs through November 30, 2009 and no purchase is necessary to enter or win.
