Video: American Idol Winner Lee DeWyze Parade and American Idol Experience Appearance at Walt Disney World
Walt Disney World has provided us with this footage from the procession at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort earlier today. The newly crowned American Idol winner is seen traveling along the park’s Hollywood Boulevard with Mickey Mouse up to the American Idol Experience, where he addresses the crowd of fans and hangs out with Mickey and Minnie Mouse before heading inside into the American Idol Experience to make a surprise appearance. Towards the end of the video, Lee answers some questions including his take on the American Idol Experience, his new-found celebrity and his expectations for his first album.

Commercial: ‘American Idol’ Winner Lee DeWyze is Going to Disney World
Following in the footsteps of former American Idol winners Kris Allen and David Cook, newly crowned Idol Lee DeWyze muttered the famous phrase just moments after the announcement: ‘I’m going to Disney World!’
The commercial is a tradition that dates back to 1987 and has featured mostly athletes from professional sports (as well as the Olympics) but began featuring American Idol winners in 2008 in honor of the opening of the ‘American Idol Experience’ at Walt Disney World’s Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park.

New Video from Disney Parks Takes a Look at What’s New (and Almost New) at Walt Disney World
Via its YouTube channel, DisneyParks released a seven minute video which takes a look at some of the recent additions to the Walt Disney World resort such as the American Idol Experience at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the Move It, Shake It, Celebrate It street show at the Magic Kingdom as well as an extended look at the Contemporary Resort, from its design and construction in 1971 through the introduction of the Bay Lake Tower DVC resort and the Treehouse Villas.
How I Went Backstage at the American Idol Experience (and How You Can Too!)
Since its debut in February, the American Idol Experience at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been wowing guests with its faithful re-creation of one of television’s most popular shows. On-stage, audience members get to sit in on several shows a day where other park guests perform live on the set patterned after the American Idol season seven finale stage. The show’s daily finale always fills to capacity as hundreds who couldn’t get in grab a nearby seat outside and watch the performances on the giant Diamond Vision screen.
For guests who opt to perform, the grueling audition process begins ‘backstage,’ in Studio 2B (essentially the on-stage and ‘backstage’ portions are treated as separate attractions, 2A and 2B on the park’s map respectively). At stake is a ‘golden ticket’ which grants the holder the ability to ‘FASTPASS’ their way through real-live auditions for the actual show (for those ineligible to use the ticket, it can be transferred once).
So one way to go ‘backstage’ at the American Idol Experience is to audition — and to make it all the way through. And as you’re about to find out, it’s easier said than done. Fortunately, there’s another way to see everything the performer gets to see and more and it’s called The Ultimate Backstage Experience.
