Newly crowned “American Idol” Scotty McCreery takes a celebratory ride May 30, 2011 with Mickey Mouse through Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.  McCreery was honored in a parade at the Disney theme park and performed his new single “I Love You This Big.”  On Wednesday, the 17-year-old singer was crowned the new “American Idol” on the season finale which was viewed by an estimated 29.3 million people.

Hudson is the godmother for The Dream, the newest Disney Cruise Line ship which will have its maiden voyage on January 26.  Before performing on “American Idol” and winning an Academy Award for “Dreamgirls,” Hudson was a performer for one of the Disney Cruise Line ships.

For guests who opt to perform, the grueling audition process begins ‘backstage,’ in Studio 2B (essentially the on-stage and ‘backstage’ portions are treated as separate attractions, 2A and 2B on the park’s map respectively). At stake is a ‘golden ticket’ which grants the holder the ability to ‘FASTPASS’ their way through real-live auditions for the actual show (for those ineligible to use the ticket, it can be transferred once).

So one way to go ‘backstage’ at the American Idol Experience is to audition — and to make it all the way through. And as you’re about to find out, it’s easier said than done. Fortunately, there’s another way to see everything the performer gets to see and more and it’s called The Ultimate Backstage Experience.

Representing Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ first tour of its very own, the experience can currently be booked only as an add-on to a full package through the Walt Disney Travel Company (or your travel agent), which already makes the process a little more difficult. The other difficult aspect, it’s not cheap. The roughly two-hour experience rings up at $98 per guest. The good news is you can buy the experience only for those who are interested in going (age minimum of 8 ) and you walk alway with some hefty American Idol Experience-branded merchandise to go with it. Unlike other tours, as part of a package, the cost of the tour is added to your package balance, so you just need to pay it all off at the regular timeline, not necessarily when you actually book it.

As mentioned, the tour is roughly two hours and is offered only on Tuesdays and Saturdays at 1:15 pm. Because it’s not highly publicized and requires a package to book, you’re almost guaranteed a small group, if not solely your own. There was some initial confusion on where to pick up the vouchers as I was told multiple times over the phone I would get them when checking in, but no such luck. The Cast Member at check-in called Guest Relations at Disney’s Hollywood Studios who told him they understood the vouchers would be mailed to me. No worries, I paid for the

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla., May 29 — Dreams keep coming true for new “American Idol” Kris Allen.

Last week, the 23-year-old singer from Conway, Ark., became the newest “American Idol” by garnering the most fan votes in the television series’ thrilling Season Eight finale. Moments after his victory, Allen did what dozens of sports celebrities and heroes have done for more than two decades: He looked into a television camera and shouted, “I’m going to Disney World!”

This week, America’s newest star lived out his post-finale show pronouncement when he basked in the glow of a victory parade and gala celebration at “The American Idol Experience,” the new Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park attraction based on the “American Idol” television show.

Celebrating with Allen Friday at Walt Disney World was his new bride, Katy. The longtime sweethearts were married eight months ago.

Thousands of fans turned out May 29 for Allen’s day in the Disney sun, which included a party-filled procession through the theme park and a chance for fans to see the newest “American Idol” amidst the celebratory setting.

In the iconic commercial shot on the Nokia Theater stage in Los Angeles following the May 20 season finale show, Allen not only shouts the famous “I’m Going to Disney World!” line, but his voice also is featured throughout the ad as he performs the famous song, “When You Wish Upon A Star.” And with the same immediacy that has made the Disney spot one of the most beloved commercials of all-time, the newest “I’m Going to Disney World!” commercial debuted on television within hours of the “American Idol” finale.

By starring in the Disney commercial, Allen joins a line-up of superstar professional athletes and heroes who have shouted the famous “I’m Going to Disney World” line. He is the second singer ever to star in the Disney commercial in its 23-year history (2008 “American Idol” champion, David Cook, was the first).

Fittingly, Allen made his visit to Walt Disney World as Disney Parks asks guests “What Will You Celebrate?”

Allen’s victory on “American Idol” took the country by storm and highlighted Season Eight of the show.
