Earlier today, The Animation Guild Blog, representing the Local 839 IATSE union, provided a list of projects currently in the works at various studios in the Southern California area. Among the list are a few of interest when it comes to Disney television and feature animation.
Among the several already-known projects for Disney Television are two new entries: ‘Unannounced fairy tale’ and ‘Puppy Papers.’ An extensive Google search for the latter provided very little information on the new series, other than it’s being developed by Rough Draft Studios for Disney. All we could find were professional references for storyboard artist Aimee Major Steinberger and animation sheet timer David Lyman.
Disney Junior will debut the first six episodes of fairytale-inspired ‘Goldie & Bear’ on the popular WATCH Disney Junior platforms, beginning Saturday, September 12,with one new episode premiering on the WATCH Disney Junior app and WATCH Disney Junior.com each Monday from September 21 through October 12. Set in the magical world of Fairy Tale Forest, the animated series for kids age 2-7 reunites Goldie and Bear, after the renowned porridge incident featured in “Goldilocks and The Three Bears.” The series premieres in November on Disney Channel and Disney Junior.

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment today confirmed an earlier report that Pixar Animation Studios’ Inside Out will be available to own on 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray and On Demand on November 3, 2015, with an early Digital HD and Disney Movies Anywhere release on October 13.

The epic storytelling of Disney’s The Lion King continues with The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar, a primetime television movie event premiering in November on Disney Channel. The movie follows Kion, the second-born cub of Simba and Nala, as he assumes the role of leader of the Lion Guard, a team of animals tasked with preserving the Pride Lands. The movie is a precursor to ‘The Lion Guard’ television series, premiering in early 2016 on Disney Channels and Disney Junior channels around the globe. A special preview of The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar will be presented at Disney’s D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, on Sunday, August 16.
Just ahead of D23 Expo later this week, Walt Disney Studios and Pixar Animation Studios have provided us with this high-resolution, uncropped teaser image for their upcoming film, The Good Dinosaur (November 25, 2015).

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has released an clips of the behind-the-scenes bonus features from the ‘Walt Disney Animation Shorts Collection,’ available August 18 (now available for pre-order) as well as a digital release on August 11, focusing on Tick Tock Tale as introduced by Dean Wellins and Lorenzo as introduced by Mike Gabriel.
Several months ago, we revealed on Twitter that there would be a new phase for Hiro Hamada, Baymax, Gogo Tomago, Honey Lemon, Wasabi and Fred from the universe of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Big Hero 6. Although we didn’t know much about the new project, our source did advise us that it would surface for the holiday season this year and would involve a new look for the team. The source also advised us that the new project would not be based in video, but teased that it will present the team in a whole new form. Along with the new generation of Big Hero 6, there would be — of course — merchandising and recently, new product featuring the ‘Big Hero 6 Stealth’ team has surfaced online in the form of pre-orders. While they essentially appear to be repaints of previously released action figures from Bandai, they do give us a good look at what the ‘Big Hero 6 Stealth’ team will look like.
