Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has announced that Sleeping Beauty: Diamond Edition will be available to own on Blu-ray on October 7, 2014. It will also be available in Digital HD and Disney Movies Anywhere same day.
The 2-Disc Diamond Edition Blu-ray Superset (Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy) contains digitally restored picture and sound, a digital copy of the film, and a variety of magical new bonus features, including ‘Once Upon A Parade,’ in which ‘Modern Family’ star Sarah Hyland tells us the tale of Walt Disney World’s new ‘Festival Of Fantasy Parade,’ ‘Art of Evil: Generations Of Disney Villains,’ a legacy piece spotlighting Disney’s favorite villain animator and Maleficent creator Marc Davis, and ‘@DisneyAnimation: Artists in Motion,’ in which Walt Disney Animation Visual Development artist Brittney Lee goes through the process of creating a three dimensional sculpture of Maleficent, completely out of paper.
From the world of Cars soars Planes: Fire & Rescue, a new comedy-adventure featuring a quirky crew of elite firefighting aircraft devoted to protecting historic Piston Peak National Park from raging wildfire. When world famous air racer Dusty (Dane Cook) learns that his engine is damaged and he may never race again, he must shift gears and is launched into the world of wildfire air attack. Dusty joins forces with veteran fire and rescue helicopter Blade Ranger and his courageous air attack team, including spirited super scooper Lil’ Dipper (Julie Bowen), heavy-lift helicopter Windlifter, ex-military transport Cabbie and a lively bunch of brave all-terrain vehicles known as The Smokejumpers. Together, the fearless team battles a massive wildfire, and Dusty learns what it takes to become a true hero.
Ahead of any official announcements, Amazon has begun listing several Disney films slated for a blu-ray release on August 12, 2014. While the domestic version of the site currently lists dates for just a couple of the titles on DVD format, Amazon Canada is being more forthcoming about the titles and the release date — if they are indeed correct.
The complete list of titles expected to be released on August 12 (so far) are: Tarzan; Hercules; The Adventures Of Ichabod And Mr. Toad; Mickey, Donald, Goofy: The Three Musketeers (10th Anniversary); and Bedknobs And Broomsticks: Special Edition.
In late 2005, Disney’s DisneyToon Studios (then the king of direct-to-home-video sequels) began development on a sequel to the 1970 animated classic, The Aristocats. Although some storyboards have been passed around the internet, little appears to be known about the canceled project and based on what is known, there’s probably a very good reason for it.
Walt Disney Records’ newly created line of collectible CDs, Walt Disney Records The Legacy Collection, will celebrate the anniversaries of Disney’s most cherished and classic properties that have been enchanting audiences for generations. Through 2015, Walt Disney Records will celebrate 12 anniversaries including Pinocchio (75th), Fantasia (75th), Cinderella (65th), Lady and the Tramp (60th), Sleeping Beauty (55th), Mary Poppins (50th), The Lion King (20th) and Toy Story (20th), among others.
The picture disc for The Little Mermaid features Ariel and Flounder on one side while Ursula is featured on the reverse; the reverse side for The Lion King features the iconic moment in which Rafiki presents baby Simba to the animal kingdom.
On June 24, 2014, Walt Disney Records will commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Walt Disney Animation Studios animated classic, The Lion King, with the release of a two-disc set, Stitch Kingdom has learned. Although it appears to have a couple of errors, a listing for the Legacy Collection edition has recently appeared on Amazon for pre-order.
Debuting in theaters on June 15, 1994, The Lion King remains one of the studios’ top grossing films to this day and has spawned Broadway, international and touring staged productions worthy of its success.
Prior to its removal, ‘Believe’ actress Jamie Chung’s bio on the NBC website was the latest to betray the envelope of secrecy surrounding the voice talent for Disney’s upcoming animated film, Big Hero 6 (November 7, 2014). Now removed from the live bio (but still available via Google Cache), her biography read, in part: ‘Going forward, future projects include Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, directed by Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller; Rudderless, directed by William H. Macy; indie comedy Flock of Dudes and Disney’s animated film Big Hero 6.’ It is being assumed that Chung will tackle the role of Leiko Tanaka /aka/ GoGo Tomago. According to Marvel, Tanaka is ‘young and highly agressive, with little patience for others, but a very strong will, someone who does not give up easily.’ Tanaka has ties to to the underworld, but opted to join BH6 rather than face jail time (for convictions unknown). By uttering her own name, she can transform her body into an explosive ball of energy which is able to be projected at vast speeds.
Disney’s ‘The 7D,’ a contemporary, comedic take on the world of the Seven Dwarfs, will premiere Monday, July 7, at 10:00 am ET/PT on Disney XD and will debut on Disney Channel and Disney Junior later this year. Joining the voice cast are Jay Leno and Whoopi Goldberg in the recurring roles of Crystal Ball and Magic Mirror, respectively. The series’ previously announced voice cast includes Kelly Osbourne as the comically evil villain Hildy Gloom.
