On October 28, 2014, Disney Editions will release Disney During World War II: How the Walt Disney Studio Contributed to Victory in the War by John Baxter, only the second book of its kind to have ever been published on the subject. The publisher’s description is as follows:
Disney XD and Lucasfilm today introduced a new character from the ‘Star Wars Rebels’ series, Hera, the heart of the Ghost crew from Star Wars Rebels. The Twi’lek, voiced by Vanessa Marshall, is an ace pilot, able fighter and is revealed to fans in the behind-the-scenes video featuring creator interviews, character sketches, and animation previews, embedded below.
Hera is an especially gifted pilot. ‘I think she really makes flying the Ghost look easy,’ says Joel Aron, CG supervisor. And while she’s strong-willed, Hera also keeps the group together and can be warm and nurturing. ‘She knows how to talk to them to get the best out of themselves and to be part of that team,’ Aron says. ‘That to me is the commander of a ship.’
At the 111th Annual International Toy Fair in New York, Jazwares offered up a sneak peek at its expanded ‘Star Wars Spyware’ line featuring products inspired by the upcoming Disney XD series, ‘Star Wars Rebels.’
Among the items featured included a motion activated micro-listener device, a voice changer (droid or alien), decoder pen and spy light. Also being introduced was the innovative ‘Ezra’s Dart Listening Device Launcher’ which allows Rebels to launch a small dart-like projectile onto a flat surface and eavesdrop on Imperial conversations from a distance. Ezra will also have a multi-device spy tool added to his arsenal through the line.
Walt Disney Animation Studios has shared a new clip from one of the bonus features for the home video release of Frozen (available for (pre-order) titled ‘D’frosted: Disney’s Journey From Hans Christian Andersen to Frozen.‘ The clip features directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee alongside Disney Legend, Imagineer Alice Davis as they pore over some of the original illustrations created by her late husband and also-Disney Legend, Marc Davis.
Disney XD and Lucasfilm today introduced a new character from the ‘Star Wars Rebels’ series, Sabine. Sabine is a key member of the Ghost crew in Star Wars Rebels. As seen in the introduction video embedded below, featuring early design concepts, animation tests, and final art, Sabine is unlike any Star Wars character — especially in her love for blowing things up and tagging her work with graffiti.
Walt Disney Animation Studios has shared one of the bonus features for the home video release of Frozen (available for (pre-order) titled ‘Dressing Room’ along with an introduction by directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee. The clip, which is presented in animatic form using scratch voices, gives us a glimpse of what life might have been like should Elsa and Anna grown up with each other.
Disney XD and Lucasfilm today introduced a new character from the ‘Star Wars Rebels’ series. Zeb is a well-trained honor guard and is highly educated, according to executive producer Dave Filoni, which juxtaposes his brutish, alien appearance. He’s voiced by Steve Blum, who says, ‘He’s got a bit of a chip on his shoulder, hates Chopper and is starting to build a relationship with Ezra, begrudgingly.’
Zeb’s favorite pastime: beating up Stormtroopers, or bucket heads, as he’s heard calling them. He’s an agile fighter, using his hands, feet, and acrobatics. But there is more to Zeb than pounding Imperials. ‘It’s just going to be exciting to develop him and his bizarre new species,’ says Filoni, ‘and to explain to the audience where he came from.’
Walt Disney Animation Studios has shared one of the bonus features for the home video release of Frozen (available for (pre-order) titled ‘Meet Kristoff’ in which Anna and the ice man make acquaintances via alternate means. Also of note is that Kristoff does not appear to speak as Sven when conversing with him. It is presented here in animatic form using scratch voices as it was probably discarded earlier on in the production process.
One of the hotter properties at the 111th Annual International Toy Fair in New York is Disney XD’s and Lucasfilm’s new Star Wars series, ‘Star Wars Rebels.’ Although Lucasfilm has slowly been offering up character reveals and tidbits surrounding the new show, details have been slowly leaking through upcoming products including this 16-month 2015 calendar from Trends International.
The back of the calendar reveals the art for each of the months which either depicts characters engaging in battle, group shots or individual poses which also names them. In chronological order, the reveals/non-reveals are: Ezra, Hera, Chopper, Kanan, Sabine (depicted wearing a helmet as well as not), Inquisitor and Zeb.
Fans have been clamoring for ‘Gravity Falls’ merchandise since the show began in 2012 and now that it’s proven itself with a new series on the way, along with the ‘Mabel’s Guide’ short-form series and a line of series-inspired books, merchandising will soon be hitting the shelf.
At the 111th Annual International Toy Fair currently being held in New York, we were able to meet with Jazwares who is getting ready to launch an entire line of ‘Gravity Falls’ toys beginning in fall of 2014. While no photos were allowed of the products we saw (and not all the information was readily available), we did learn a few details which you’ll find below.
