‘Star Wars: Attack Squadrons’ Free-to-Play PVP Now in Closed Beta (Trailer, Details)

'Star Wars: Attack Squadrons'Disney Interactive, in association with its LucasArts division and Area 52, today announced that ‘Star Wars: Attack Squadron’ is now in closed beta testing and accepting applications at StarWarsAttackSquadrons.com. According to the announcement, ‘Star Wars: Attack Squadrons’ is a ‘free-to-play online space combat game where players customize iconic Star Wars ships and engage in high-velocity 16 player dogfights in fabled Star Wars locations.’

The player-vs-player will offer three different gaming modes: Free For All Fight for glory in 16 player death matches; Team Dogfight — Join a team and decimate the enemy team; and Base Defense — Defend your base or coordinate an attack on your enemy‚Äôs base. The game offers ship personalization and collectible upgrades, a reward system and promised ‘new ships, items and upgrades every month.’

Yesterday, both Lucasfilm and Disney registered a series of domain names, clearly pointing to a couple of large projects we can possibly expect to learn more about in the coming months, if not much sooner.
