Attractions magazine has recently reported on its blog that the spankin’ brand new and highly ill-received Stitch’s Supersonic Celebration in the Magic Kingdom has posted its closing notice for June 27 with no intention to return as some have previously reported.
Earning distinction as two of the world’s best Jungle Cruise skippers, Walt Disney World Resort Cast Members Beth Schafer and Alex Williams were recently chosen to represent the resort at Tokyo Disney Resort’s 25th Anniversary Celebration.
Emerging from their helm in the darkest wilds of the Magic Kingdom, Schafer and Williams earned their overseas excursion thanks to their knack for spinning humorous spiels and stories. They competed against 35 skippers to win their spots, auditioning in front of a panel of judges from Walt Disney World and Walt Disney Imagineering who scored them on performance and punch lines. In Anaheim, Jungle Cruise skippers Kevin Lively and Mickey Wright were chosen as representatives of the Disneyland Resort.
If you missed the simulcast of the blue carpet event here on Stitch Kingdom, please do not fret. (Okay, you can fret just a little bit). Coming soon is most of the raw footage from the event so you can catch all of your favorite American Idol (and Disney) stars as they graced the blue carpet prior to the main event.

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (Feb. 12, 2009) – With the largest-ever gathering of “American Idol” winners joining in the celebration, Walt Disney World Resort Thursday night raised the curtain on “The American Idol Experience,” a new attraction capturing the energy and excitement of the hit TV show.
Thursday’s grand premiere, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, was attended by all seven winners of the series, from season-one winner Kelly Clarkson to season-seven champion David Cook. Joining Cook and Clarkson were Jordin Sparks (season six), Taylor Hicks (five), Carrie Underwood (four), Fantasia Barrino (three) and Ruben Studdard (two). (more…)
A scheduled live performance by David Cook to air on Good Morning America this morning didn’t go quite as planned when problems causing the audio to intermittently cut out forced the aired performance to end prematurely.
With any luck, I will soon have video from GMA available featuring what little of the performance there was as well as an additional tour of the new American Idol Experience through the eyes of ABC weatherman Sam Champion and Cook’s colleague, David Archuletta.
Courtesy of Attractions Magazine comes this reportedly complete list of all of the American Idol stars that will be appearing during the 4:30 motorcade up along Hollywood Boulevard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios on February 12 to commemorate the opening of the American Idol Experience: (more…)

A beloved Disneyland attraction returns to Fantasyland on Friday, Feb. 6, when “it’s a small world” opens with some new storytelling magic. The addition of Disney characters and the rainforest scene isn’t all that guests will encounter when they re-acquaint themselves with the Disney theme park classic “it’s a small world.” The LA Times Travel Blog discusses how one of the world’s most famous theme songs is getting a makeover as well – including the fusion of music from several classic Disney films.
